The Final Choice

The Eternal Lovers – Part 3: The Final Choice The Door Waits Saanvi’s hands trembled as she stared at the Last Door, its stone surface shifting as if alive. The inscriptions of past names flickered, some vanishing, others appearing anew. It was waiting. It had always been waiting. Behind her, Aarav lay bleeding, his breaths shallow but steady. His fingers gripped her wrist, weak but insistent. Saarya stood nearby, golden eyes filled with regret. "You have seconds to decide. The Door won’t stay open forever." Saanvi clenched her jaw. The choice felt impossible. If she stepped through—Aarav would be lost to fate. If she stayed—she would become the new Guardian, trapped in this temple for eternity. She turned to Aarav. His voice was weak, but his eyes burned with love. "Live, Saanvi. Go through." She shook her head violently. "Not without you." Aarav coughed, gripping her hand tighter. "One of us… has to break this cycle." Saanvi’s heart shattered. There had to be another way. And then—she saw it. A crack in the prophecy. --- Breaking the Cycle Saanvi turned sharply to Saarya. "You said you were cast out because you refused the throne. But what if you were never supposed to take it alone?" Saarya frowned. "What are you talking about?" Saanvi turned back to the inscriptions on the wall. Names of those who had come before. She recognized some—legends, lost kings, warriors whose fates had been erased from history. They had all come here alone. But she and Aarav were different. They weren’t meant to choose one fate. They were meant to choose together. "What if two souls pass through at the same time?" she whispered. Saarya’s expression changed, a flicker of something between fear and hope. "No one has ever tried." Aarav forced himself upright, pain flashing across his face. "Then let's be the first." The Guardian of Fate, silent until now, finally spoke. His voice cracked like thunder. "You would defy the will of time itself?" Saanvi’s eyes met Aarav’s. "We defied fate when we fell in love. Why stop now?" They clasped hands, their fingers locking together as they ran toward the Last Door. The Guardian let out an inhuman roar. "NO!" The temple shook violently. The stone carvings shattered. The door began to close. But it was too late. Aarav and Saanvi leaped through the Last Door—together. And the world dissolved. --- Beyond Time Darkness. Silence. An emptiness so vast it felt like drowning in infinity. Then—light. Saanvi gasped as warmth flooded her body. She opened her eyes. They were no longer in the temple. No longer in Petra. They stood in a place that should not exist. An endless sky stretched above them, painted in shades of dawn and dusk at once. The ground beneath them was not earth but something softer, like walking on whispers of the past. And before them, stretching into infinity—a path. Aarav stood beside her, his wounds gone. His hand was still in hers. Saanvi turned to him, breathless. "Where… are we?" A voice answered—not the Guardian’s, not Saarya’s, but something older. A presence that had been waiting for them. "You have broken the cycle." The sky pulsed, the path shifting under their feet. "Now… choose your new fate." Saanvi’s heart pounded. Aarav squeezed her hand. They had finally escaped. But the journey was not over. They had entered the unknown. And now—they had to decide what came next.
