Alpha Whyte

Chapter 2

We follow behind the guard as he leads us to meet the luna. The questions on my mind are unending and I hold Allen's hand, to comfort him. If it turns out she wants to add more to his punishment, I don't mind taking it all again for him.

As we enter the hall room, I see that the alpha and Grayson are also present. Something is definitely wrong. Why is the Luna requesting for I and my brother's presence in front of the alpha and the beta?

I and Allen kneel when we get close enough and we wait for what it is they have to say.

"You both have been called here because we have an assignment for the both of you. You especially, Serene." The luna says and despite not knowing what the assignment is yet, I feel relieved that we aren't getting flogged.

"I do not know if you've heard about this pack called Siverstone before but they are our enemies. They seek to end us." She says and I remember now that it's the same pack she and the alpha were discussing earlier on. But what has that got to do with me? She did say she had a plan...oh no, it better not be what I'm thinking.

"They are a very unpredictable pack and so we need to get ahead of them. We need to know their next move and for that to happen, we need a spy. One we can trust not to fail us."

It is what I'm thinking. They do not want to send one of theirs but they want to send me.

"We all have black fur in this pack apart from you Serene. You and your brother are quite different and so it will make the job easier for you. Don't know how you're going to do it but you must make him accept you into his pack and you must learn his secrets, his plans, his weaknesses." She continues and I stare at her in shock. How does she except me to please someone who they obviously seem to fear? What if he kills me for stepping into his territory?

"And just to make sure you do not do something stupid or escape, we will hold your brother captive so, be careful because any decision that you'll make, your brother's life will be at stake."

"No. Please do not do that. I don't want him to get hurt." I cry out and immediately Allen is seized by Grayson. I try to pull him back but a slap from the beta sends me crashing to the floor.

"Please.." I cry out, caressing my cheek.

"If you want nothing bad to happen to your brother. Do as we say." These are the words from the alpha before I'm sent out and Allen carried to one of the prison, I suppose.

Why does life have to be so unfair to I and my brother? I don't even mind going through all of this. I do not just want my brother to experience this too.

I'm certain I look crazy as I walk through the hallway and back to my room. I have no other choice than to do what they've instructed me to do. Allen's life will be on the line if I do not.

By the time I reach my room, Grayson is already there and waiting.

"We leave now." He says with no remorse. I can't believe this is the same man I once thought I loved.

"Can I at least get to see my brother before I leave?" I ask but he hesitates. I can still feel the sting of his slap on my face.

"Just this once, please. I do not know what is going to happen after now."

"Fine. Five minutes. I don't have time to waste." He finally agrees and walks away. I walk behind him into the prison yard and the guard let me pass when he sees Grayson.

Allen is laying on the floor when I get there but on seeing me, he stands up.

"Serene, are you going to be okay in where you're going?" He asks. I can't believe he's worried about me when he's in this situation.

"I'm going to be fine. I want you to take care of yourself. Be strong and I will try my very best to make sure nothing bad happens to you." I tell him and pull him in for a hug. He's the only one I have in this world and I can't believe I'm going to leave him for a while. I don't even know how long I'm going to be a spy for?

"You need to be strong. We'll get through this. Always remember that I love you."

"I love you too. Please be safe." He starts crying again and it breaks my heart the more.

"Time is up." Grayson states from the door and I have no other choice than to say goodbye to Allen. For now, I hope.

"Just before I leave. I want to let you know how much I hate you, Grayson. You're mean and wicked and evil. I can't believe I fell for all your lies. I hate you." I confess when we leave the building and after he's done with showing me the path I'm supposed to follow. This will be the first time in the past five years I'm going out of their territory.

Grayson moves closer to me at my words and leans in to my ear, his left hand twirling with my hair.

"Those aren't the same words you said while you were underneath me. I know you still want me, love and you wish we could have been an happy couple but trust me, you'll get over it soon." He whispers and I push him away that instant.

"Well, that's if you survive where you're going. Remember, we will meet at the central road in every two weeks. Make sure not to get caught." He adds before leaving. Just the thought of me walking into another territory is scaring the hell out of me but I do not seem to have a choice.

It feels like my whole world is being thrown into a state of jeopardy as I stand, watching from a distance, my father being brutally attacked by a rival pack.

It's all too fast. We were discussing about my future some minutes ago and now he is being attacked and being torn apart by the crimson pack.

Without thinking twice, I change into my wolf form and run into their midst. I haven't been in an actual fight before but there's no way I'm going to watch these men tear apart my father.

I let out a growl as a sign of warning and stand protectively in front of my father. They start backing off slowly, making me feel I can chase them away but in a swift second, one attacks and throws me off balance.

He presses me to the ground and all my effort to get back up seems to be in vain. He's twice my size and also, I'm sure he's a skilled fighter and killer. There's nothing else I can do than to watch as the others resume their attack on my father.

He looks very weak and can hardly stand or fight back and I fear what might happen soon if they do not stop.

There comes an howling from afar and that is what it takes for them to stop. They retreat but I can tell they feel very satisfied with all that they have done.

I get up immediately and change back to my human form as my other pack members arrive and I rush to my father at once.

I cannot hold back my tears as I watch his almost lifeless body.

"Please father, do not leave me. Please." I beg but there comes no response from him. This cannot be happening. It can not.

As I watch him shut both eyes, a sudden realisation dawn on me but I do not want to believe it. There's no way he's dead. No__no__no!

I let out a loud scream and suddenly, I jolt awake.

'It's a dream' I realise. It's the same nightmare I've had continuously for the past eight years and it feels like torture remembering how my father died and still haven't done anything to the pack that is responsible for it. The crimson pack took someone very dear away from me and the only time I'll feel at peace is when I do to every one of them what they did to my father.

I no longer feel like sleeping and so I get up from my bed and stride to the window. After some minutes passes by, I jump out and change swiftly to my wolf form. If there's anything that is going to distract me at the moment then it will be, going for a run.
