"Serene." Allen runs to me and I feel relieved to be with him again.
Thank goodness he's okay.
"Are we being held hostage?" He asks and I shake my head.
"No. The alpha here is kind of an ally." I reply, scared to tell him the truth about the mess I've gotten into. I don't want him to get worried about me.
"They seem mean to me." He points out.
"We'll be out of here soon." Another lie. Derek has made it clear that he will hand me over to the court of elders.
I'm going to be away from Allen again. I may never even come back and I have no idea how to keep him safe. I can't take him with me for my trial.
"I need you to listen to me, Allen. I'll be off for a few days. I don't need you to worry. I'll make arrangements for you to stay here or to be taken back to meet Nala." I
