[You]:
When the days are cold
And the cards all fold
And the saints we see
Are all made of gold
[Sergio]:
When your dreams all fail
And the ones we hail
Are the worst of all
And the blood's run stale
[Troy]:
I wanna hide the truth
I wanna shelter you
But with the beast inside
There's nowhere we can hide
[All]:
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
The three of you sung the song dull as the dark starry sky from Fifth Harmony's concert tonight. Those hallow feeling in your chest were like a weights dragging you down. You wonder why emptiness was the heaviest feeling of all. It was a good thing the fans never noticed it, how can they though when the song speaks dark as your heart's feeling right now.
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
The beat of Sergio's drums is the only loudest instrument emitting in the arena, but it was good to hear, good thing you chose the song to be acoustic this night.
[Sergio]:
At the curtain's call
It's the last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl
So they dug your grave
And the masquerade
Will come calling out
At the mess you made
[Troy]:
Don't wanna let you down
But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
Don't wanna hide the truth
No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come
Your eyes remains looking down on the guitar you're plucking, your fingers shifting on the neck of the instrument makes a audible grazing noise.
[All]:
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
You moved your mouth closer to the microphone in front of you, closing your eyes as you sing the verse of your song.
[You]:
They say it's what you make
I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul
I need to let you go
You again opened your eyes, glancing to the side, looking directly at the specific person out of the five figures standing at the side of the stage watching your performance.
You stared at Lauren's enticing emerald eyes, singing the next lyrics like you want her to feel the emotions in your heart that you're anointing to her.
Your eyes, they shine so bright
I wanna save that light
I can't escape this now
Unless you show me how
[All]:
When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
"If you would just let me..."
Lauren's mind races when she heard those words. This was an indirect confession, or that's what she thinks of it. What was she supposed to do, her mind was thinking of different things that it made her speechless.
Lauren moved her face away from your touch, she can still feel the imprints of your hand burning on her cheeks, it wasn't her body reacting to your touch, you just left a heat because you're sick, yeah that was only it. Or that's what she think it is. She retreated back her hand you're holding to her chest, her thumbs playing with the bottom collar of her shirt.
"I-i uh.." Lauren stuttered. She shook her head and quickly stood up from her seat, taking the empty bowl and plate with her then heading straight to the door, leaving you there disappointed.
You sigh, closing your eyes shut tight and shaking your head. "Does that mean I'm rejected?..."
"No, I wouldn't reject you if I were Lauren." Camila entered your room, holding a towel and a tub of hot water. She sat on the chair that Lauren was sitting on and place the things on the bedside table.
Camila dipped the towel on the hot water carefully and twist it tightly to drain the excess water. "You're the closest person who has a trait we like for Lauren, I'm impressed at your grandmother raised you to be a better person than your brother." She told you, gently dabbing the wet cloth on the side of your face.
You stared at her for a moment, taking in her features. You never really looked at Camila long enough like Lauren until now. You admit, Camila is very attractive, no wonder Sergio's head over heels for her. Thinking about Sergio put up a small smile on your lips, and Camila noticed it.
"What are you smiling there for?" Camila lightly chuckles side glancing you, moving the towel down to your neck.
You shook your head. "I'm just thinking that Sergio's very lucky to have you." Camila looked at you puzzled. "I mean, I'd date you if I didn't like Lauren."
Camila paused, looking at you with wide eyes. A wide smirk stretched on her lips. "So you like Lauren?" She asked with a teasing tone.
"Yes." You admitted, nodding your head. "There's no point on hiding it, you girls will eventually know it anyways."
Camila giggled. "You're a very honest person, Y/N, and very direct too."
"Well, I want to express what I'm thinking than saying nothing and regretting it afterwards."
Camila ordered you to lie down, and you obliged to do so, then placed the folded towel on your forehead. "Take a rest, so you'll be able to perform tomorrow." She said before turning around to leave.
You wrapped your hand around Camila's wrist, stopping her. You sat up for a moment and signaled Camila to get closer to you. Camila sat at the edge of the bed next to you, watching you closer as she waited for you to say anything. You huff a soft smile, placing your hand on top of the brunettes head and patting them gently.
"Thanks, Monkey." You chuckle, sliding your hand at the back of her head to pull her gently closer and plant a soft kiss on her forehead. When you pulled back you gave her a soft smile. "If Austin comes near you again, tell me alright?, or any other guys who annoys you."
"Even Sergio?" She asked.
"Why?, does he annoy you?" You looked at her confused.
She sigh. "Yeah, it's annoying that he's still haven't made a move yet."
You chuckled at her. "Don't worry, he's just shy but sooner or later he'll be making a move."
Ally entered the lounge, her eyes landing on a certain guy that has his arms crossed against his chest while staring on thin air deep within his thoughts. Ally rounded the empty sofa and walked towards Troy, earning his attention. Troy smiled at Ally and watched her took a seat next to him, folding her leg under her outstretched one.
"Is there something wrong?" Ally asked the boy before her.
It was odd for her to find Troy that quiet, and it made her uncomfortable. Troy' was a childish person, he never last a day without making anyone around him laugh. He always find himself laughing in the most seriousness of times. He was a person who doesn't want others to feel left out and feel like they're in a wrong place hanging out with wrong people.
Troy nods his head. "Yeah, just thinking of something." He replied quietly.
"You're the one here who says to never think deep about things." Ally reminds him. "You know you can always talk about it to me."
Troy forced a small and tight smile, nodding his head at Ally. "I know.."
Ally thought for a moment, thinking about bringing up someone but hesitated, knowing that it might still be a sensitive subject for Troy. "You know, Sergio showed me a picture of your ex girlfriend." She finally told him. "She's really pretty, I'm a cockroach compared to her. She awkwardly laughed.
"That is not true." Troy shook his head, disagreeing on what Ally thinks of herself. "You're more beautiful than what you think."
Ally coughed, looking away to hide the blush forming on her face. "T-thanks." After that it was in pure silence again, Ally quietly groan at herself, contemplating that she should give Troy a little..more push to talk.
"I don't want to come off as nosy but, are you still in love with her?" She asked.
Troy shrugged. "I don't know.." He mumbled. "But...I still care about her, she still means to me that I thought I didn't anymore."
Ally nods her head slowly, listening to Troy. "Tell me things about you two."
"Well," Troy sighs. "Trisha and I was inseparable when we were in highschool, I always make sure that she gets to class safe, always drive her home and that she shouldn't be insecure of not being good enough. I always spend my time with her family, and even on every events my family comes with me too. On our senior year, there was this time that she cried thinking that what if she wasn't able to pass the entrance exams where all the greatest architect's graduated from, will she be able to handle her family's firm."
"Did she passed?"
Troy smiled. "She's the smartest girl I knew, Of course she passed." He replied, but slowly his smile altered. "But that's where all things get rough." Troy pursed his lip to a tight line. "When our future got bright ahead of us, we started losing light. There wasn't a week that we don't fight, and sometimes it lasts for about three days." Troy begins to explain their fall out.
"I, too, was taking architecture and took the exams the same as her, but unfortunately I didn't pass. But it was okay with her, so I chose another school to study in." He paused. "It was my third year in college and was excited to be an incoming fourth year in the end two semesters, but..my father got into an accident. We're not that fortunate as Trisha's family was, so all the money I saved for college were used to my father's hospital bills, I stopped for a semester, and all those times I just helped my mother take care of my father while Sergio worked his ass off to pay the bills. And because my father's medicines were expensive, the chance of me studying again was small, so I worked in as a crew member in a fast food chain, and I'll tell you, the people I work with were very kind,"
Ally nodded her head as she listens carefully on Troy's story. It was so unfair that a loving, caring and a kind person went through a tough time, but still managed to be the same, but that's what life gives you, challenges makes the person he is.
"Days turned into weeks, months, years and I stood in the crowd proudly smiling at Trisha when she graduated college. Our relationship were still going strong throughout those times. But one day came, and we made a decision that we never thought we'd made." Troy's eyes started to tear up. He sighs, swallowing down the lump in his throat. "It was Christmas Eve, my family and Trisha's family got together to celebrate, Trisha and I spend at their garden for a moment, away from everybody, talking about how she'll handle their family's firm, how she'll take over his father's footsteps. Basically all the things she dreamed of that was few steps away from her." Troy pauses, wiping the tear off his cheeks.
"Then she begins to talk about me. Her first project was here, in Boston, and she wanted me to come with her, she wanted me to live with her and she'll cover up all the expenses, even the university she wanted me to study in, saying that she can't put all of my talents into waste. But I didn't want the idea of it. Us living together was a part of a dream I have but it was a wrong timing. Not until my father's in a rough condition."
"So what happened?" Ally blurted out. Her cheeks reddened when she realized it but it put Troy into just a few minutes of happiness in all of those turmoil he feels talking about his past.
"Things got heated up. She became furious when I disagreed, she said that, what will happen in my life if a just sit around and never work hard on the things I wanted to achieve, but she was wrong, I'm not even just sitting around, I was helping my family, I was helping my father." Troy paused, sniffling lightly. "She made me choose. Me coming with her..or it was over."
"....So you chose to break up?"
"I chose my family." Troy replied. "Never put the people you love on a place where they have to choose between career or family, it can be a debatable subject but, what's the meaning of being a successful person when you don't have a family to share or be happy with it." Troy explained.
"After that?"
"Weeks passed, Trisha flew over here in Boston to follow her dreams while I continued on to help my family."
Ally nods her head slowly in understatement. "That was brave of you, Troy, choosing something even though it may had cause you to sacrifice your own happiness."
"Happiness always had its end, Ally." Troy told her. "Maybe the day Trisha and I broke up, was the exact day my time being happy with her was to end."
"You're really experienced in handling reality, huh?"
"Just a bit." Troy chuckled halfheartedly, nodding his head. "I wasn't like this before, the time after my father's accident, it was as if my eyes became clearer. That the world doesn't only revolve around Trisha and her family, the world was much more bigger than I thought it would be."
Ally gave him a concern, small smile. "You were growing up."
"But we were growing apart." Troy drag the back of his palm across his cheeks, when tears again escaped from his eyes. "I never regretted my decision, but...since then, my life became a full series of what if's." Troy said. "What if I chose her? What if I studied here in Boston and What if my father didn't get into an accident..."
It became silent again as Troy's story ended. Ally inhaled, closing her eyes momentarily, sighing as she stared the side of Troy's face. How old was this man before her, 21?, and it's been three years since they broke up. So Troy was 18, legal but still young to experience a life that makes you feel like you're crawling in a pin hole.
Ally gave him a warm smile. "Thank you, Troy."
"For what?"
"For opening up to me." She replied, leaning her head on Troy's shoulder. "Even if it makes you feel things that you don't want to feel anymore, you still gave it a shot."
Troy chuckled. "I did, didn't I?" Ally felt Troy's body vibrated from his laugh. "It kinda made me feel better, so thank you, too, for listening."
Troy looks over to the side, while Ally tilt her head back to see Troy's face inches away from her. Troy's breath hitched, his brown orbs staring into Ally's. Troy was never sure of how he feels for Trisha, back when he saw her at the café, but he was for sure, indeed, falling for the woman before him.
He gave her a warm smile. Maybe it was a good thing that he experienced those hard things in life, if he didn't, he wouldn't be able to meet Ally.
"You're lips on my lips, it's a merry merry Christmas"
"It's the most beautiful time of the year..." You trailed off after Sergio, as the both of you wrote the lyrics down the sing book you're holding.
While the two of you left Troy on his own, giving him the time to think. You and Sergio went straight to the studio you rented out to write some music that you're going to be releasing within a month and a half. You're irritated by forgetting it, Christina informed it to the three of you a few months before you remembered it to do. Maybe because the fight between you and Lauren, and Camila's almost accident preoccupied your mind.
Sergio tilts his head to the side, heaving out a bored sigh. "I thought Christina's coming?" He asked slightly going impatient. "She mentioned that she's going to be introducing someone, do you know who it is?"
You averted your gaze from the song book and look down to your wrist watch. "She'll be here in a few minutes." You answered. "You think I'm interested on meeting who it is?"
"Nah, I don't think you give a s**t about it."
"That's what I thought." You hummed.
Your head perks up from the sound of the door opening. Christina confidently enters the room, as professional as possible, you know she likes it doing that. Trailing behind her was a tall man, brown hair, lazy eyes. Actually you know him, not really know him as an acquaintance, you always see him after your band finished performing.
Sergio stood up, with you you willingly trailing behind. "We almost thought you weren't going to show up." He grinned at Christina.
Christina rolled her eyes. "As if I'm the type of person to do that."
"Well I'm thankful that you aren't."
"Anyways." Christin moved to the side and pointed to the boy beside her. "This here is Shawn Mendes, he's going to be needing your band to feature on his upcoming album."
You nod your head and lend out your hand towards the boy. "Y/N, Y/N Y/L/N." You introduced yourself, shaking his had gently
After that Sergio took Shawn's hand and shook it as well. "Sergio Aguilar."
"Shawn, I'm a big fan of your band." He gently smiled at the two of you. "But where's the other one though?"
"Troy's having a bit of a problem, but don't worry, he'll b fine." Sergio replied.
Shawn nods his head. "Good, now." Christina clapped her hand. "How about we start discussing about your second album?"
