The Hero of the Celestial Hundred had only two weeks to live to his 65th birthday. He was heavily injured during the clashes in Hrushevskyi street on February 18. Furthermore, his already frail health was finished off by ice-cold water from water cannons. On 7th March Vasyl Sheremet's heart stopped beating in a Kyiv hospital.
“His neighbor handed over his documents to me. There were the icons of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in his passport and employment records book. I know that he had been to church often lately. He is going to be alright,” Halyna, his younger sister, quietly says.
