A hero of the Celestial Hundred Igor Serdyuk died on February 18 at the intersection of Instytutska street and Kriposnyi lane. At that time the violent confrontation between the Maidan protesters, on the one hand, and the government security forces and titushki [thugs for hire], on the other hand, had begun, the activists started erecting a protective barricade there. Igor like many others was busy carrying sacks with earth when he suddenly fell down on the ground—he got a fatal point-blank shot from a sawed off gun in the nasal bridge.
