The hero of the Celestial Hundred Bohdan Solchanyk arrived at the Maidan by bus with a group of friends in the early morning of February 20. First they all together went to the barricades—they had to relieve the protesters exhausted by a hectic night. All of a sudden everybody was summoned to the October Palace: “Berkut men are retreating!”
According to eyewitnesses, the murder took place about 9 am, after Berkut's infamous decoy. Security men pretended to be retreating luring the protesters into a trap—under snipers’ bullets.
