Jayden's POV:
Kali will have a concert in my hometown. This girl is everywhere. The worst thing is that I should take my sister to her show. Nothing in the world will make me do it. She might not be a terrible singer, but it doesn't mean I like her. I have other interests. They don't include babysitting my sister on a Friday night. I prefer to go out with my friends. We do it often, but I don't care. They are better company than my sister. Bailey thinks that I should talk with Ally. Here is one thing. She doesn't have a sister or a brother. My friend is the only kid in the family. She won't understand the struggles. That's why I wanted to be the only kid, but no. My parents had other plans. Honestly, I wasn't happy when I heard about the second baby. I liked being alone without sharing anything. Things changed since Ally was born. The good news is that she is a girl. The bad ones are that she is annoying. Mom is trying to make me spend more time with my sister. I am avoiding this so hard. No offense to her, but we can be together for more than ten minutes. Otherwise, we'll start arguing. For the best of everyone, we need to be separated. I can talk to my mom about the concert, but I don't think she will change her mind. All I will say is that it's worth a try. I hope that she won't make me go with Ally.
Kali's concert is after a week. I tried to argue with Ally as much as possible so she wouldn't go to that concert. This girl won't give up. She wasn't talking to me, no matter what I said. In the end, my mom agreed to get her tickets. Great. No matter what I do, she will make me go. I wish she could ground me like ordinary parents. Take my phone. I won't complain. I don't want to be with Ally. Is it so hard to understand? We can't stand each other. I will make sure to prove it to her.
I have a class with my friends. They are the only thing that keeps me occupied. Well, the teachers as well. At least it's a good distraction for me. That is all I can say. I'm still mad at my mom for this concert. I'll make sure Ally will miss it. Send me to jail, and I'll still like it more than this. When my class finished, I went to get food. My friends came as well. I know they have nothing to do with that, but I'm mad at everyone. It's so annoying.
- Spill the tea. Why are you so mad at us? - Bailey asked
- I'm not.
- Yes, sure. I can fly. Come on.
- It has nothing to do with you, ok?
- Ally?
- How do you know?
- No one else left.
- Did she do something? - Tom asked
- Mom wanted me to take her to this stupid concert.
- The singer didn't do anything to you. - Bailey said
- So what? This doesn't mean I want to spend time with my sister.
- I don't understand what you have against her.
- Do you have siblings?
- No.
- Exactly. If you had one, you would've understood.
- There is nothing wrong with liking someone.
- I didn't say the opposite.
- I think he has something personal against Kali. - Andrew said
- Like what?
- I don't know.
- Can we not talk about her? She can't even sing.
- I'm ready to argue with you here. - Bailey said
- Why don't you take Ally then? I don't want to go.
- First, she is not my sister. Second, I will be busy on that day. I won't go.
- What a shame. You could've saved me.
- Even if I went, I wouldn't take Ally.
- Why not?
- This is your responsibility.
- She won't go. I won't move from home even if the police come.
- Bailey, give up. He is stubborn. - Tom said
- Ok, but this doesn't mean you can put your mood on us.
- Are you mad at me now?
- I don't know. Maybe.
- What the heck did I do to you?
- You keep complaining. I feel like we have to listen to this daily.
- You asked. I didn't want to say anything.
- Because we are your friends. Is it that bad to care about someone?
- No, but.
- But what? Forget it. You won't understand. - she said and left
- Did I say something?
- Girls. We'll never understand them. - Tom said
- I will go and talk with her. - I said and left
I walked after her, but she didn't want to talk. I don't know what is going on with her. I checked the time and saw it was time for my next class. Bailey will wait. I sat next to her, but she didn't look at me. I can give up on her, but I won't do it. She is my friend, and I want to know what is bugging her. It can't be what I said. I didn't offend her that much. After class, the boys and I walked out. We went for lunch at a small restaurant. Our food came after half an hour.
- What is going on with Bailey? - Tom asked
- I have no idea. She didn't want to talk to me.
- Did she get offended? - Andrew asked
- How am I supposed to know?
- You can talk with her. That might help.
- I will go to see her for dinner.
- Oh, what is going on between you two?
- Nothing. I want to cut her off, but I can't do it.
- She might have a different opinion than us, but I like her.
- I know. This is why I'll try to fix this.
- Man, we know you care about her. - Tom said
- I care for all my friends.
- No, this time it's different. She is different.
- I have no idea what you are thinking about, but it won't happen.
- It's never too late for love.
- Am I talking with my best friend or an eighteen-year-old girl?
- Very funny. I'm serious.
- Me too. Nothing will happen between us.
- Then why do you care so much about her?
- Because I already argue with my sister all the time. I don't want to do it with her as well.
- Are you sure it's only that?
- Yes. There is no other reason.
- I hope you believe what you said.
- I do, no matter if you don't.
The boys and I kept talking. Later, I went home. I had some assignments to finish. For my luck, Ally was there. I stayed with her for a minute. It was quiet. There was no music. I stepped closer and saw that she had her headphones on. She looks so peaceful. I have no idea why we argue so much. I don't understand. I sat next to her and pulled out my things. I will try to see for how long we can stay without arguing. She didn't even look at me.
- For how long have you been here? - Ally asked
- Ten minutes.
- Will you leave?
- Do you want me to do it?
- Will you do something?
- No, I have some work to do. I will go out later.
- You can stay as long as you are quiet.
- I think I can do that.
- Why are you nice to me?
- I'm not. Let's say I'm not in the mood to argue with you.
- Where is Bailey?
- I don't know. Why?
- Can she come home?
- Why do you want her to be here?
- Because she treats me well and doesn't make fun of me.
- I don't think she will do this. I'm sorry.
- What did you do to her?
- Nothing. Why do you think it's my fault?
- Because she gets mad only at you.
- That is not true. She can get mad at everyone.
- Are you sure?
- Yes. I suggest you do your homework and stop worrying about this.
- You should do it too.
- I will go to my room.
- You said you would stay here.
- I changed my mind.
- I didn't lie.
- You are annoying.
- You are not better than me. - she said and stuck out her tongue
- If you are ten, keep doing this.
- Hey!
- Forget it. You won't understand.
- I'm old enough.
- For what? To tie your shoes alone.
- Not only that. I learned when I was nine.
- Good for you. I'm leaving.
- Great.
I tried. Nothing else could be done. Mom tried to talk to me when she came back from work. I told her to leave me alone. For dinner, I walked out. I went to buy food and walked to Bailey's house. Her mom opened the door and let me in. I don't come here often. Most of the time, we are outside. If I am here, it means something has happened. She told me Bailey was in her room. I walked in and saw her watching something. I thought she would notice me, but no. Maybe she doesn't want to do it.
- Hey.
- What are you doing here?
- I came to see you.
- I have nothing to tell you.
- I'm sorry.
- Honey, we are going out. There is food in the fridge. - Bailey's mom said
- Thanks, mom.
- I bought us food. If we don't eat now, it will get cold.
- Why are you here?
- To understand why you are mad at me. Tom and Andrew say things like this, but you don't care. Why am I the problem?
- I never said that.
- But I know it's true.
- Leave me alone.
- Please, Bailey. I don't want to argue with you. Also, Ally likes you.
- So? This doesn't mean anything.
- Are you sure?
- Where is that smell from? It's good.
- This is the food I bought us. Check it out. - I said and gave her the bag
- You bought.
- Your favorite. What do you say?
- You can't fix our problems with food, even if it's the most delicious thing on the planet.
- I know, but I tried.
- I will eat this. In peace.
- I won't say a word. I promise.
- You won't leave, will you?
- No.
- In that case, we can finish the movie I started. One step closer, and you are dead.
- Yes, miss.
- I'll go for plates.
- You can take drinks.
- No problem.
- Hey.
- Yes?
- I'm sorry. I didn't want to do this to you.
- I know.
- Then why are you mad?
- Because I care. It's not like I expect you to understand this.
- I'll try to be a better person for you.
- There is no need for that. I know who you are.
- Oh.
- In a good way. Let's go to the kitchen. The food will get cold.
- You have a microwave.
- It's not the same.
- If you say so.
Bailey and I watched the movie peacefully. I'm glad that she is not mad at me anymore. Food is not the solution, but I know what she likes. She cares. For what? Me? I'm not that important. Also, I don't treat her differently than the boys. I know she doesn't like me that way, but I might try to keep her. Sometimes, she is the only one who can understand me. Maybe that is because she is a girl. Well, I have to focus on something else. The stupid concert is coming. I won't take Ally, but I wonder what my mom will do. She won't like this for sure. I hope that I won't get grounded for that.
