Annabelle

Was she really going to sneak into the kings room while everyone was asleep? What would he expect from her? Most importantly would she be comfortable doing it? Even though she didn't spend alot of time with Queen Charlotte growing up she was always very kind to her and they got along pretty well.

You would always hear terrible stories of what other royalties would do to their staff and how they were treated. Annabelle's family was always treated well. After they had finished their meal Annabelle went upstairs to get the Queens bath ready. She opened the door to the bedroom to get the Queen when she heard her and the King talking, so she closed the door a little bit so she wouldn't be seen.

" After I've bathed for the night how about I come over and we have some alone time?" Charlotte asked him.

" Would you be upset with me if I just went to sleep? I'm really tired today and just want to rest" He told her.

" Oh, yes of course. I also am feeling kind of tired" Queen Charlotte said with disappointment in her tone.

" I'll make it upto you I promise" he told her.

Annabelle could hear the sounds of them kissing. Annabelle tried to not make a sound, once again he wasn't making any sense to her.

Annabelle opened the door fully and cleared her throat " So sorry to interfere, but your bath is ready whenever you are" she told the Queen.

" Thank you Annabelle, Have a good night" she told the king giving him one final kiss.

As Charlotte walked towards her room Annabelle and the King made direct eye contact and he smiled at her. Annabelle didn't react and went into the bedroom closing the door behind her. Annabelle helped the Queen undress, got the rag and soap and started to clean her. Normally they chatted during the bath but the Queen was silent tonight, and Annabelle had alot on her mind as well. Once the bath was over Annabelle helped her into her nightgown.

" Is there anything else I can do for you tonight?" Annabelle asked.

Charlotte gave a small smile " No, have a good night Annabelle" she told her as Annabelle gave her a curtsey and left her room.

Annabelle looked at the Kings door and bit her bottom lip, she wasn't sure what she was going to do, but she had time before she had to decide. She made her way downstairs and decided to take a solo walk around the grounds. A million different thoughts were running through her mind she didn't even notice James was outside having a smoke.

" Annabelle is everything alright?" he asked her as he exhaled.

" Yes everything is fine, just wanted to get some air before I went to sleep" she told him.

" Just don't wander too far, it's safe here. But you could get turned around in the dark" he told her.

" Did you want one?" he asked her.

" I've actually never smoked, my father is very strict about it" she told him.

" I won't make you, but if you want one let me know" he told her.

" Sure" she told him as he came over to her handing her one, and using his lighter to light it.

She put it in her mouth and inhaled, instantly coughing.

James just laughed " You didn't need to inhale that much, just a little" he told her.

She inhaled a little more " I don't think I like it" she told him.

" It takes a few times, but I understand I can finish it off for you if you want" he told her and she nodded handing it back.

" Is your father really strict in general?" he asked her as he inhaled her smoke.

She nodded " He's a warrior so he's very protective, he means well but it can be a lot " she told him.

" It also doesn't help you're his daughter, my father is a lot less worried about my brothers and I then my sisters" he told her.

" You're so lucky to have siblings, how many do you have?" she asked him.

" Two brothers and three sisters. I'm the youngest of the boys, but my sisters all are younger" he told her.

" I'm sorry to ruin the evening but I'm actually heading inside, did you want me to walk you in?" he asked her.

" I think I'll stay out for a little bit longer, could I have another smoke before you put it out?" she asked him and he grinned nodding.

" You'll like this, open your mouth" he told her as she gave him a confused look but did it anyway.

He inhaled and gently grabbed onto her face blowing the smoke into her mouth. She inhaled and still coughed some but not as bad.

" That felt uh very intimate" she spoke out loud as she could feel her cheeks getting flustered.

He laughed and winked at her " That was the point innocent Annabelle" he told her as he walked back into the castle.

" I mean it don't wander" he told her as he turned back one last time to look at her.

Annabelle wasn't sure what to make of James now either. Surely he wasn't interested in her too right? She stayed outside for a few more minutes before heading inside. She stood in the front entry silently listening to hear if anyone else was awake. It seemed silent so she quietly made her way up the stairs to the King and Queens floor. She quietly knocked on the Kings door and he opened it with a big smile.

He ushered her inside and quietly closed his door, the second the door was closed their lips were locked. They moved their way over to his bed sitting on top of it still kissing, the King was gently nipping at her bottom lip so Annabelle opened her mouth for the king to slide his tongue into her mouth. They continued to kiss for awhile and Annabelle pulled away breathing hard.

" I want you to be honest with me, you're free to tell me whatever you're thinking and feeling" the king said.

She nodded " How do you feel about me?" he asked her.

She sighed " I really don't know, I find you extremely attractive and you give me butterflies, whenever I see you it's like my brain doesn't work. But you're the King and Married, it complicates this" she told him as he just sat listening.

"Thank you for your honesty, I was worried you were only kissing me because of my title, and worried how I'd react if you didn't kiss me" he told her.

" I genuinely feel the same, I want to spend my time with you, and kiss you, as well as other things. But we obviously can't do that publically" he told her with a sigh.

" How would you feel if we continued with this and see where life goes?" he asked her.

Before she could answer he spoke again " I can't promise you anything, you and I both know what my title allows and doesn't allow. But I can promise you that I will do my best to make sure you are happy, we can also stop this whenever the other wants to" he told her.

Annabelle sighed " what about the Queen?" she asked him.

" I'm not the only king that has had interest in others, but It must be kept a secret unlike how other Kings do it. If she were to realize it was an affair with you she could terminate your contract and I would have no say in the matter" he told her.

" I just don't want to hurt her" she started to say when he cut her off.

" What she doesn't know won't hurt her" he told her.

" So what do you think?" he asked her and she slowly nodded.

" I'd like to give this a chance and see where this goes, King Albert" she said before kissing him.

" Just Albert" he told her kissing her again.
