Chapter 8: Hitting the town

1237 Words
“So, where do you wanna go?” He asked, as he started the engine of his black civic car while Jane and I sat in the back and Michael beside Jason. “Is there a town nearby? I want to get some new films to watch. Ones that are actually decent and scary,” I said, as we came out of the forest and onto the road. He nodded and drove along the road until we came to a set of red traffic lights. While we waited for them to change again, I looked out the window and noticed another driver, a blonde lady, staring straight at Jason who had one hand resting over the wheel and was looking ahead, totally oblivious. I looked at his side and noticed another lady in the passenger seat next to her husband who was staring at Jason too. They were like love sick puppies. The lady on Jason’s side was nudged roughly by her husband as he realised what she was doing. After twenty minutes of driving, we parked up outside a mall type place and headed inside the bronze edged, automatic doors. The place was packed with people. It was painted all white, shiny and new looking, very well looked after, I thought to myself as Jason gently led me by the arm towards the escalator stairs that led up to HMV. I couldn’t help but notice that every single female, whether woman or teenager, would stare at Jason and Michael longingly as we passed by, hoping they would look their way, but they didn’t seem to notice them at all as they climbed the escalator. Jason turned and looked down at me behind him. I’m pretty sure I had the same look on my face as those women right then as I took in his gorgeous face and eyes, which were now a piercing blue, so people wouldn’t ask questions he had said. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a white t-shirt that clung to his chest snugly, allowing you to see how very muscular he was, (though it was in more of a warrior way which I definitely preferred than bodybuilder style) and leaving his very muscular arms on display. He even had the slightly raised veins thing going on, it was hot. “Hey Missy, you still with me?” he grinned, knowing full well what I was doing. I blushed and pushed him off the step as we reached the top, with him laughing and shouting, “Hey!” I left Jason looking at some music with Michael and headed for the films with Jane. I was starting to get annoyed with all the women staring at him. He was definitely more popular with the ladies than Michael, and my wolf didn’t like it. “How you doing down there?” asked Jane with a big grin on her face. “Alright now. I guess it’s the werewolf healing, right?” I asked seriously. Jane laughed hysterically for about a full ten minutes before wiping her eyes and saying, “Oh, Josie, you do make me laugh. There is no such thing as magical fast healing or changing on a full moon. We are just plain human in this form, and we are plain wolves in our wolf form. It’s nothing as special as the movies or books, although it is true that we do age a lot slower because of the constant changing inside of us, and we do have more strength than any normal human simply because wolves are known for being pure muscle and strength, so I suppose that can be added to our human self, but apart from that, we aren’t invincible, one shot from any bullet, and we die like anybody else, oh, and I like to wear silver,” She replied, showing me her silver cross necklace. She was still giggling to herself even as I went up to the cashier to pay for my films, blushing furiously and being so thankful for my ebony skin. Before I could object, Jason came over and handed the lady a twenty, making her go weak at the knees even though he gave her more of a cold stare than a welcome greeting. It gave me the chills and a little ache inside when I recalled those contempt looks being directed at me once. Jane just rolled her eyes, as though she were used to seeing all of this. I noticed that when the cashier gave him the change, he was very careful not to make skin contact with her. We headed back to the car after wandering around the shops for a while, with Jason still managing not to touch anyone among the massive crowd. He looked so uncomfortable, not meeting any humans eyes and looking as though they made his skin crawl being around them. I was learning fast he was very antisocial, Jane mentioned Blaze was trying to help him fit in with society more, but Jason didn’t leave the pack site unless he absolutely had to, he really struggled being around humans. That didn’t stop the women staring at him hungrily, though. One young girl and her friend had even stopped us all just to ask for his number. Before he could give some rude uncompassionate answer, Jane had rushed over beside him and said,” Sorry girls, but this man already has a girlfriend. You see my friend there, that’s his partner.” She smiled politely, pointing at me. They nodded and walked off, sulking and blushing, while my heart was racing just at the mere thought of being his. “Thanks, Jane, I owe you,” he replied, as we crossed the parking lot towards his civic. I noticed a man watching us from inside his blue ford. He was a handsome man, as were most of the young changed wolves, (I don’t know why I thought he was another werewolf, he just had that look) with bulging muscles, green eyes and sun-kissed blonde hair. He noticed me looking and gave a toothy grin before starting his car and pulling away and speaking into his phone. “Hey, this sounds weird, but some guy was just staring at us and talking into his phone. I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid, but it looked like he was talking about us,” I said, interrupting Jane’s chatting. “s**t, what’s he look like?” Said Jason. I repeated his description as best I could and his car and the toothy grin when he noticed I had seen him. “s**t, s**t, s**t!” Jason shouted, punching the pay meter and making a massive dent in it and some change fall out. He had one bad temper. “Who was it? Do you know him?” I asked meekly, not wanting to piss him off any more than he already was. “Yeah, that was Angelo. His Alpha of the pack we’ve been dealing with. He’s a dangerous man, especially for women. I don’t want you anywhere near him girls, you got me? If you see him again, Josie, I want you to run like your life depends on it,” Jason growled, before climbing into the car and slamming the door so hard the whole car rocked. Jane gave me a “don’t look at me” look and climbed into the back seat.
