“Look I am telling you, Alistair was with me. Karla walked past us and I walked to him. We talked a little, I said I needed to invite her over here. And when he let me go to find her I smelt blood and he helped me track the smell to her. He didn’t hurt her.” I said.

Rebecca handed the folder over and Alpha Lincoln and Luna Liliana looked at them thoroughly.

“Damon how sure are you of this?” Luna Liliana asked.

“I am 100% sure that it wasn’t Alistair. I was with him the whole time.” I said.

“Is there any children that might be half related? We can ask around the other packs.” Luna Liliana said.

“Liliana the other Alpha’s won’t easily admit if they cheated on their partners.” Alpha Lincoln said.

“Does the archives have birth records?” I asked.

“Yes, every 5 years the archives get updated. Computers and paper records.” Luna Liliana said.

“Is it every pack?” I asked.

“Yes, every pack sends their births and deaths. We share the same computer archives where we can print for our own records.” Luna Liliana replied.

“Can you see an age in the DNA or any indication of how old they will be?” I asked.

“What are you getting at?” Alpha Liliana asked.

“What if we looked at who was born in the logs and compare their DNA to the test, or to ask them for a DNA test if they are in different packs. We can find the real attacker.” I said.

They stayed still for a moment thinking.

“That actually isn’t a bad idea.” Rebecca said.

“Can I go to the archives to look?” I asked.

“Yes, we will meet you down there soon.” Luna Liliana said.

“Will you call ahead?” I asked.

“Yes, doing that now.” Alpha Lincoln said while picking up his phone.

I have some time before I need to be back at the pack hospital. I walk down to the main room then walk to the back of the house and down the stairs to the basement which we call the archives hall.

I walk up to them and they just open the locked door to let me in.

“Alpha Lincoln and Luna Liliana will join you soon Damon.” The first archives guard said.

I nodded and smiled then walked inside.

There was cupboards filled with files that were organised through years. The births on one row and deaths behind that. I looked for the births that could put them in our grade. The years of 2002-2005 the age would be 15-19 but that’s in case the rare early bloomer (Shifts at 15). I started from the more recent, our pack had 64 possible people and then I started looking into the other packs. The Blood Alpha pack has 35, they are named that as the Alpha sacrifices every year. They will either sacrifice one wolf, or two humans. They do this on the anniversary of the Alpha’s reign. There is Shadow Moon with 49, and the last one is Iron Fangs with just 13. But what surprised me is that there was not that many deaths in Iron Fang either. So I did some more digging and there isn’t many deaths of teens and children in the others. Just Iron fangs. Most die at a young age. And there is no record of what caused the deaths. I thought to myself, I will look into this another day. I saw a book of news articles in the folder and thought I couldn’t resist the urge for long. I looked inside. There was news clippings of children missing from the packs 16 years ago. There was an article of the Iron Fangs twin heirs of the pack being kidnapped. There was a lot of blood found on the border leading into the woods on the outskirt of town. The Blood Alpha pack had a child taken that was found dead 25 years ago. When they finished grieving they gave birth to twin boys. The Luna died during birth and one son had to stay in the hospital. The son that was allowed to go home, was taken in the room so the Alpha vowed to do sacrifices if his son in the hospital could stay with him. From that day onwards, that is the real reason they sacrifice yearly. I was dumbfounded. But there were no infant deaths or children deaths and there was no kidnappings from Shadow Moon. Were they responsible? I thought it was strange so I pushed the thought aside for now and grabbed the files of all the possible children (which was a lot) to the men out the front. The guard scanned their codes for all 161 files. Including mine and Alistair.
