Chapter 3

Shane was typing in his PC. Today was a hectic day.. He has to take interviews in between his busy schedule.. Giving him a lot hard time..

Last time the head of HR department did a dangerous blunder by taking his incapable relative in this post and the company had to bear the blunder.. Though both of them had been fired immediately, still it was a disaster.. So, Shane himself was going to take care of this matter on his own.. But, he also got some help after Leo came to help him.. Leonard Davies was his younger brother, who has been went to the washroom..

Last two candidates remained.. Asking for the next one through the intercom, Shane again got busy with his work.. Till now, everyone was good which has to be because D&M never allowed average to enter into the company for an interview.. But, he needed extraordinary.. Some raw talent, which could catch eyes even in the most crowded place at a glance..

Shane heard the door opened and closed.. It might be the candidate.. But, nothing happened.. Frowning, he looked up and his jaw clenched seeing the face.. He would never forget this face.. The girl standing there literally dared to break his favourite music box!!

Suddenly, he realised something.. 'What on earth she doing here!? Wait, is she a candidate!?' He thought to himself and his eyes looked at her suspiciously..

Both were staring at each other without blinking as if some staring contest was going on.. No one expected to see each other at this place..

"You!?" All of a sudden, one shocking voice disturbed in their staring contest.. It was Leonard, he just came out from the washroom.. "What are you doing here!?" He asked again..

Shane was still looking at her without uttering a single sound..

On the other hand, Alice was looking at both brother.. Her brain was working like a storm.. One thing she knew very well, she had to give this interview and get the job.. She could not let the personal clash affect into the path of her career..

Taking a deep breath she replied looking at Leonard "I am here for the interview.."

And now it's turn to the staring contest between both brothers.. Few moments later they both turned to her again.. "interview? For the Assistant Accounting Manager post?" Leonard asked, it sounded like mocking though.. "Really? What do you think, it's a breaking contest going on here? That you have come to participate, kid?" He danced his brow at her, throwing a playful smirk towards her..

Alice felt her veins are popping up and bloods were boiling in anger.. Taking another deep breath she tried to composed herself.. Then spoke looking at Shane "I am here for the Assistant Accounting Manager post and not for any breaking contest.. Let's not make it personal.. You are here to find qualified employee and I am here for the interview.. I hope a businessman like you would not like to mix the professional life with personal life.." She did not break the eye contact while talking.. She was confident enough..

"Seriously girl!? Do you even know what you are talking about? Go to college.. It's time for you to study!!" Leo said again..

But Shane was not reacting like his brother.. He was watching the girl seriously.. This girl has a lot of fire inside her.. Not to mention her confidence and bravery.. Though seeing her here was kind of surprising yet she seemed much interesting and different.. He decided to see what she could show.. "Come seat.." He said in his bossy tone..

"What are you doing, Shane!?" Leonard was now confused by his brother..

Meanwhile, Though Alice was showing confidence but also getting nervous inside.. But, she could not show it.. This is the issue of her prestige..

Hearing his call, Alice walked up to the desk confidently and professionally.. She sat down in front of him, keeping her files in front of her..

"What's your name?" Shane asked..

"Alice Wilkinson.." She replied..

"So miss Wilkinson, you are here for the job.. Do you have the qualification for it?" He asked, wanted to know what she said..

"Yes, I think so.. Here is my documents.." Saying, Alice pushed the file to Shane..

Shane took the file.. He opened it and for God's sake, he somehow controlled his jaw to hit on the floor!! She was wrong! She was not qualified! She was over qualified for the job!!

Leonard also came beside his brother and gasped.. He never thought she would be this intelligent.. Controlling himself he looked at her suspiciously "are you sure this is your's kid? I mean did you made it on your own or is this real?" He asked with unbelievablity..

Alice sighed.. This question was expecting.. "There was number of the institution, you can call and get confirmation about the reality.. You just have to say my name that's it.." She replied, feeling proud.. Though she was praying inside not to call.. Because no one knows Alice Wilkinson for God's sake!! But her confident voice saved her..

Leonard stop asking questions after that.. She just cleared all his doubts.. He looked at his brother for his decision..

On the other side, Shane didn't want to admit it but he has to, this girl was amazing.. He kept the file after seeing her age.. "So, you are nineteen years old?" He asked..

"Yes.." Alice replied..

Shane leaned on the front more and spoke "look miss Wilkinson, the fact is you are over qualified for this position but I like the fact that you wanted to start from the beginning.. But, did you ever think of the reality after getting the job? People will certainly hesitate to get connected with you because of the age factor.. What will you do then?" He asked..

Nodded in understanding, Alice replied "yes sir, I know that.. But still I want to try.. I believe my ability will talk.. Though my age will be the distraction at first yet my skills will remove that age boundary.." She replied.. Her every words were clear and speaking for it's own self..

"Okay then, I would ask you to wait outside.. I have another candidate waiting.. Please cooperate and wait for few minutes.." Shane said in his professional tone..

Leonard didn't said anything.. He didn't like the idea of her waiting.. After all, she was the most capable one came so far.. But, he also have faith on his brother's decision, so he decided to keep his mouth shut till the end..

Alice nodded "okay sir.. Thank you for your time.." With that she went out.. Shane kept her file with him, God knows for what..

Getting out from the room, Alice saw Noel was waiting for his call.. He was the last candidate.. He stood up and walked towards her "what is it? You must be selected for the post, right?" He asked, looking genuine..

But before Alice could reply, the receptionist called "Mr. Blake, it's your call now.. Director is waiting inside.." She said..

He got confused and looked at Alice.. She shrugged "well, you know now.."

"But how is it possible? I really thought you would get it!" The shock was definite in his voice..

"No it didn't happened.. My age came in between.. Though he asked me to wait, don't know why.. Well, forget about me.. It's your turn now.. All the best.." She gave him a thumbs up and smiled politely at him..

Nodding he went inside.. And he got the job.. When he came outside he was happy as well as sad.. He really liked Alice.. "I am very sorry.." He apologised..

Alice giggled lightly "hey, it's not your fault.. I still have a lot time.. Congratulations for the job.." She shook his hand..

Noel also relaxed seeing her easy going nature.. He wanted to connect with her and took her f******k Id on that purpose.. Alice also gave him easily.. He would make a good friend..

After Noel left, Alice waited for few minutes.. Noel wanted to drop her but she insisted to stay..

Inside the cabin, Leonard could not restraint himself for asking "what was that? Alice was the most capable one, wasn't she? Are you really taking in personally Shane?"

Shane tapped on the desk.. "Yes, I am.. She has hurt my prestige and she has to pay for that.. But, I also won't let her go.. I have something else for her.." There was a Devilish smirk on his lips..

Leonard only stared at him blankly in confusion.. He sometimes really didn't understand his brother..

Outside, waiting for few minutes, Alice get bored.. She understand, he would not call.. She thought he just took a revenge like this which was too childish.. Shaking her head helplessly, she got up to leave but that moment she realised that her file was with Shane Davies.. She was thinking what to do and as if hearing her thoughts the receptionist called her "Miss Wilkinson, Director is calling you inside.."

Alice did not have any hope on that.. She already lost her interest.. But, out of courtesy she decided to go inside.. She knocked on the door "May I come in?"

The same intimidating sexy voice came from inside "Come in.."
