Clara’s POV   “No, dad. You can’t do this to me.” I shook my head in full vim as I took a skeptic step backward. Immediately, the guards in the room formed a line at my back. “You can’t force me to do this, dad!” I cried out bitterly knowing fully well that I was helpless “To what honor do I have to keep you here? Is there anything useful you can do for me?” he grunted, taking a step closer to me. “You should be glad that the Alpha loves you else I would have thrown you away.” he turned away from me with a brief pause. “Besides, this is the first time your existence has turned handy for me.” he said evilly without caring about my emotion. “Dad!” I called him curtly as tears rolled from my eyes down to my cheeks. “If you ever call me that again, I will cut off your tongue.” he snorted in annoyance, “This is wickedness! Dad, you know quite well how many women died in his Palace. How can you send your own child there?” I questioned him in contempt with a raised brow. I couldn’t believe my ears. I knew he doesn’t love me but then, he can't cast me away as if I was some piece of metal. “Go there, give him an heir and that’s all! Don’t make things hard for me.!” he screamed at my face, I could see the rage building in his eyes. “Take her away.” he instructed them with a loud voice. “No. Dad. No. I don’t want this...” they dragged me out of his study room. “This is insane! How can you force your daughter to marry a beast? I don’t love him! I don’t want him and I will scream until my last breath. I hate that Alpha of a king! Everyone knows he is cursed, I can’t walk into hell willingly!” I screamed so hard that I could feel aches from my lung, and I banged his door with my hand. I made sure he was uncomfortable to change this nonsense decision he has made. I would rather marry an Omega than him, everyone knew the history - the awful history of Alpha Golden. Aside from the kingship that gave him excessive ego, he was the most narcissistic man I have ever seen, very ruthless and arrogant. I can't. “This won't help you.” I stopped hitting the door and turned sideways, I saw his friend, Uncle Charles standing behind me. He smirked and I approached him, shyly cleaning the tears off my face. “Uncle Charles, can you please beg my dad? I can't marry that man.” I begged him desperately with my eyes turning wet again, I couldn’t rein in the tears. “I wish I could but everyone has a reason for this.” he grabbed my hands. “Your dad is faced with external and internal attack and without the Alpha King, we will be doomed. Meanwhile, the Alpha King needs a woman who would give him an heir.” he began. “He won't make you his Luna or anything. He is getting married to you for a baby, and once the child is born; you are free to leave.'' He informed me meticulously and I sniffled. “And will I be alive to give birth to that child?” I asked seriously but he took it as a joke and laughed. “Everyone knows how Jane, Evelyn and Taylor died one month after their wedding with him. He always takes the heir as an excuse, and ends up killing all his women. What if he kills me?” I asked, looking petrified and he placed his hand on my shoulder. “I don’t know about your father but as for me, I won't let him harm you.” he assured me with a warm smile. “Actually, I had plans of getting you married to my first son, Hayden when he returns but it's quite unfortunate that your father was faster.” he had a slight frown on his face, I shrieked. “You have been telling me about Hayden, so bad I didn’t get to meet him.” I sighed. “It’s quite unfair though, I’m scared. There are a lot of what ifs in this case.” I informed him sadly and he shook his head. “Enough of the what ifs, think about what happens then?” he smiled and I nodded. “Since you are urging me, I’m somewhat confused. I really don’t like that man and I know he has his own motive for getting married to me. It will be awful if I don’t give him a child.” I rambled with words as I batted my lashes, he shushed me. “You have to learn to face your fears, my dear. And for the first time, take this burden off your fathers shoulder.” he informed me with a serious voice. I nodded, he wasn’t totally wrong though. Maybe being sold to the devil’s son was the only way I could show him how useful I was. “So, are you going to get married to Alpha King Golden?” he asked me anxiously with his eyes all over me, I swallowed hard. “Uncle Charles…” I muttered to myself. “Actually, you don’t have a choice but you know how fair I can be. I would love to know your opinion.” he redressed, standing upright and I sighed. “Do it! Just do it.” something urged me inwardly, like a force I couldn’t control. I knew it was her, Raya. She was always fast in making decisions unlike me. “I will do it. As the Lady of the Crescent Blue pack, I will take up the responsibility, even though it isn't favorable.” I said sternly with a cold facial expression. He nodded before he bowed and went into my father’s study room. I accepted. What could a weak lady possibly do in such a situation? This was the first step I have ever taken and I felt maturity had dawned on me. I was ready to face that king, I know I was weak and silly but at least I would be out of my father’s arms length. But can I bear to live with a beast forever? These thoughts baffled me more than I have ever imagined and instead of missing in my reveries, I sighed and returned back to my chamber.    Clara’s POV “My lady, you will be entering the Palace tomorrow.” Tom, my personal maid and best friend said with a doleful voice as he entered my room “Tom.” I squeezed a small smile, he took his seat on the wooden chair. “Will you be fine alone? Your father said I can't come with you since Alpha Golden restricted all your personal servants.” he frowned slightly. “I can’t argue with dad, can I? I just have to do this.” I reminded him and he sighed. “But you can choose to run away.” he informed me sarcastically and I smirked. “You think I haven't thought of that?” I scoffed as I stood from the seat and approached my window. I opened it and his jaw dropped, fear enveloped his eyes. “This man…” he pumped his fist and gritted his teeth in anger. He had surrounded my chamber with his men, not even an ant can crawl in or out. I sighed as I shut the window. “So, you see?” I wiggled my brow at him and he shook his head in disbelief. “I’m so sorry, for this last time I can't save you but send you into the lion's den.” he lowered his head to the ground and I walked over to him. I knew him, I knew him more than anyone else and he was someone that would protect me with his life on the line. Seeing him helpless at this stage broke my head, I pulled him up from the chair he was sitting on and embraced him. That was the only way I could express my platonic feelings to him. He was like a big brother to me, even when my father punished me, he showed up to save the day or take the punishment in my stead. He was my hero. It was also painful to leave him after all these years that we have spent together. He was one of the strongest Beta in our pack and of course, he found his mate earlier, unlike me. But too bad he hasn’t been bold enough to propose to her since she was Lord Jackson’s daughter, the Beta chairman. “I will be fine.” I managed to whisper in his ears after a brief silence and he started stroking my back, steadily and softly. “I guess you will but I’m afraid of one thing…” he stopped halfway as we pulled away from the embrace. “And what could that be?” I raised my brow. “The fact that you are too kind and weak, breaks my heart. I’m afraid that you will be molested and there will be no one to protect you.” his eyes pervaded affection and sadness, I was a bit nervous and sad. He was right. He knew me like the back of his palm. I was weak. Based on the pack shaman, my wolf was the last born in the Moon Goddess lineage. Raya wasn’t allowed to fight neither do I have a confronting spirit. I will be molested, cursed and humiliated with no strength or urge to voice out my emotion. I knew all these while that I wouldn’t be able to hold still for even a day but I had to do it. “I think that’s not the last word you should say to your best friend.” I said teasingly and he laughed shortly, cleaning his eyes. “What do you want to hear? That I wish you best in your doomed marriage or what?” he said coldly, fringing annoyance and I smirked. “Jealousy.” I snorted and walked away from him, he followed me. “But, when are you leaving?” his voice resonated in the room.   Golden’s POV   “Why are they still alive?” I asked the foolish guard standing before me, he lowered his face to the ground. “Your Majesty…” his voice was trembling, I detest weak people the most. I took the sword around the waist of a guard beside me and before a blink of an eye, I gave him a swift deep cut in his neck and he vomited blood before crumbling on the ground. “When I give a command, you better do it or get ready to die!” I cursed at their faces. “Yes, Your majesty.” they bowed. “Now kill these slaves and burn their bodies to ashes!” I commanded in anger before walking away from them. The last voices I heard were filled with misery, their dole voices filtered in the air. I was the Alpha of Sharp Eagle Pack and I have been leading the werewolf kingdom since I could remember. I hate weak people and despise people who take my rules for granted. I love messing up with things , especially she-wolf and when I was done, I either threw them away or ended their life. That was me, Alpha King Golden. The only alpha that has survived both thick and thin with no fear or vulnerability. “Your Majesty.” my advisor who wasn’t doing the work of an advisor, rather who was my bodyguard, Kevin approached me and bowed. I shot him a sly look and continued walking. “What is it?” I groaned. “The mission you sent a few dark men last night was successful.” he informed me with a short excited grin and I nodded. “And so?” I raised an annoying brow. “You promised to allow me go on a vacation with Lola.” he reminded me courteously, I stopped walking and faced me. “What do you take me for? A brother or father?” I scoffed in mockery. “You are my slave, my bodyguard. Why should I permit you to visit a mate that doesn’t want you!?” I asked him in anger and he frowned, trying to avoid my gaze. “What?” I questioned and he didn’t react. “If you are too busy, go ahead and flog all those lazy servants rather than running under a woman’s skirt!” I spat at his face in disgust and he sighed heavily. “I’m sorry, Your Majesty.” he said apologetically and I exhaled deeply, and started walking down the hallway. “If there is nothing else, do what I asked you to do.” I instructed him. “There is another.” he pursed his lips, I faced him slightly. “What is it?” I asked. “It’s Alpha Daniel, he will be sending his daughter tomorrow morning.” I smirked and stopped walking. “And who asked that stupid old man to do that? Has he forgotten my wrath?” I gritted my teeth in anger as the heat boiled all over me, reaching its peak. His daughter would taste my wrath for her father’s negligence and impatience.
