Chapter 12

Ryder ran back to the pack house, he ran straight to the pool and jumped shifting in middle air before landing in the water. The water was ice cold, it helped cool his body down. Ryder bounced out of the water and took a deep breath, he slicked his hair back. Ryder grunted, “f**k!” Ryder was relieved and pissed when Gregory showed up when he did, he didn’t know what would have happened. Ryder felt he was losing control, between Kyra’s scent and seeing her perfect naked body in front of him. The thought was arousing him again even in the cold water. Ryder growled and dunked his head under water, Why was she even there in the first place? He thought to himself. Ryder rose his head out of the water again and saw Gregory standing on the end of the pool watching him with concern. “That was a close one, you ok?” Ryder nodded his head, “Yea now I am, is she ok? Was she scared?” Gregory walked down the stairs into the water making a face as the cold water reached his mid drift. “Yea she’s ok, she’s one tough girl. She said she thought she saw something and took it upon herself to check it out. I think she tried to shift, did you see her before you got into the clearing?” Ryder shook his head, “No she was already in human form when I reached the clearing.” Gregory nodded, then smirked. “Well I can see why you were struggling to control yourself, I’m mated and I was having trouble.” A twitch of jealousy rippled through Ryders chest and an involuntary growl escaped. Gregory threw his hands up in surrender, “Chill, you already threatened to take my head if once no need again. I don’t get it, Ryder you were never like this with Kari. Don’t you think it’s strange that with bond is so strong?” Ryder was going to say something but then thought about it. Gregory was right, as much as he loved his first mate Kari, it wasn’t as intense or strong as this bond he has with Kyra. And he hasn’t even marked her yet to claim her, which intensifies the bond even more. It kind of scared him, he can barely control himself now, he can’t imagine when he claims her. Ryder shrugged, “I don’t know, maybe it’s the age gap. Maybe it’s because of her ‘sickness’. Rhonda did bring up some good points, she doesn’t give off a sick vibe. Specially if she ran head first into to forest chasing something unknown, unable to shift properly. I think there’s more to it, I think they’re hiding something.” Gregory raised his eyebrows, “Can’t you use your Alpha powers and have her admit the truth?” Ryder tensed his jaw, “It doesn’t work, I tried it at the club. No affect, I wonder if Elder Rodrick knows the truth.” Gregory face turned serious, “You think Rodrick could be lying as well? Ryder that’s a very heavy accusation, if you accuse Rodrick of dishonesty, you can lose your Alpha title and the pack.” Ryder never trusted the Elders, specially when Alphas aren’t allowed to use their powers on them. Alphas had to blindly put all their trust into them and their decisions, like their decision to take Amber as his chosen mate if he doesn’t find a second mate they approve. Ryder shrugged, “I don’t know, my head is still spinning, I’m not thinking straight.” Gregory swam over and put his hands on Ryders shoulders, “Go get some rest, we’ll started fresh in the morning. Kyle’s game is tomorrow, you going to make it?” Ryder wanted to say no but he knew he had to go, Kyle is going to be a future Beta to his hire one day. He has to show support, not to mention it’s Karis nephew. Ryder nodded, “I’ll be there.” Gregory smiled, “Thank you, now go dry off and get some rest. I’ll finish up the final patrol run.” They both got out of the pool and grabbed a towel, they dryer off. Gregory shifted back into a wolf and ran off to the woods. Ryder walked up to his room, he threw on some pajama pants and laid on his bed looking at the ceiling. To many thoughts running through his mind, like why would Theodore lie about Kyra having Lycanthexia, did they lie to Rodrick or does he know the truth. The only way he would truly get an answer is if he used his powers on Theodore and Sally, but he didn’t want to do that to them. Not after what they’ve been through, whatever it was it had to be for good reason. “KY!!” Sally yelled from the bottom of the stairs, Kyra stirred not wanted to get up. “KYRA!! SOMEONE IS HERE FOR YOU!” Kyra grunted, she threw the sheets off her. “YUP GIVE ME A MINUTE!” She yelled back. She stretched and yawned, she grabbed some clothes. She put on a white crop top tank, a black and white plaid over shirt left unbuttoned and tight black leggings that rested just under her bellybutton. She quickly brushed her teeth and ran a brush through her hair and threw it up in a bun with a few strands falling down around her face. She ran down the stairs and saw Allie sitting in the living room. “Hey we’re did you go last night? I tried looking for you but my parents came and picked me up. I tired yelling for you but my parents said we had to go. I was worried about you.” Allie jumped up and hugged Kyra, Kyra was surprised by her reaction. “Sorry, I was slow dancing with Ry.. Alpha Ryder and he told me to go straight home so I..” Allie pulled her self back and looked Kyra in the face with wide eyes, “You danced with Alpha Ryder!” Kyra looked around the corner for her aunt and uncle, “Sshhh, yes. What’s the big deal I bet he dances with all the girls.” Kyra said keeping her voice low. Allie shook her head, “No he doesn’t, he hasn’t dance with anyone since his.. his mate passed.” Allies eyes widened even more, “Oh that’s why Amber was pissed off at you! Oohh, you’re in trouble she wants to kill you.” Kyra scoffed, “I’d love to see her try.” Allies face changed to a smirk, “So.. Tell me how you got the Alpha to dance?” Kyra scoffed, “For your information he asked me to dance, then the alarm went off and he told me to run home.” Allie raised her eyebrows, she knew there was more to the story but wasn’t going to pray. “Ok, you ready?” Kyra furrowed her brow, “Ready for what?” Allie smiled, “The football game today, come on we can get something to eat while we’re there.” Kyra was about to say something when Theodore walked in, “Oh yea the football game is today, that sounds like fun.” Kyra sighed, “Don’t I have something’s to do? Ain’t I grounded?” Theodore shrugged, “Yea but it seems like forcing you to go out and socialize is the perfect punishment. So go on go to the game, here’s some cash for food. Behave yourself.” Kyra groaned and rolled her eyes, “Fine, come on let’s go then.” Allie jumped up and down, she followed Kyra out the door. They walked up the street and to the school, “Question, is it normal for them to play football.. naked?” Allie laughed, “Yea how else would they play football in wolf form, they can’t wear clothes cause they’ll just rip out of them when they shift. Did your other pack not?” Kyra shrugged, “No they just played in human form and walking around naked wasn’t.. normal. We use to shift in the comfort of our own homes then meet for a pack run or something in wolf form.” Allie made a face, “Uh, weird. Yea it’s normal here to walk around naked, no one really bats an eye. I mean alot of people have seen me naked and never acted differently. We’re a very close and trustworthy pack, don’t worry you’ll feel comfortable soon. It took me a little while to get use to it at first.” They made their way to the back of the school, they joined the crowd to the bleachers. Allie and Kyra sat on the end near the middle, suddenly Kyra felt something hit her in the back of the head, popcorn flew everywhere. Kyra looked back to see Amber and her friends laughing, “Oops, I’m sorry it slipped.” Kyra growled and turned back to field.
