I wait and wait all night for the sun to rise so I could spend time with the little one. I send all of the girls away, giving them enough money to survive for a while at least. I punish all the guards who had touched my little one without my say so. They received fifteen licks from my thickest belt and then sent away at sunrise. If they ever returned to my castle, I would have them killed, or at least that's what I told them. No mercy for men who do not listen.
My maids bring me my morning meal, some fancy lavish dish that I didn't care for most days. I tell them to make a brunch whenever the doorbell rang. They nod at me and scurry along.
I eat on my meal, and wait some more.
Hours pass and nothing of my little one is reported to me. I sit in my chamber waiting and waiting. A soft knock is upon my door after what feels like forever.
"Yes, come in."
One of my many servants pop through the door.
"Sir, your company has arrived."
I perk up and let a small smile slip.
"Good, good, have my maid make a light lunch for me and a decent size for my guest," I command them, putting a stern look back into my face.
"Yes, sir." She quickly shuts my door and scurries away.
The excitement running through my bones frightens me, it has been a long while since I've had excitement. I wait a few more minutes to pass, hoping to subdue some of the excitement from seeing a girl I barely knew. I stand and walk to my door, opening it and taking a breath. I exit and head down to the eating area. My guest is already there, seated and waiting. Her hair is not the same as last night, it was dark as night, shorter than I remembered, but I push the difference aside. I smile to myself, but quickly hide it as a maid scurries past, taking my little one her meal.
I clear my throat and she turns to me.
"Hello, Adonis." Her twisted smile downs my happiness instantly.
"What in the hell are you doing here?! I told you to never return!" Anger rises once again and immediately I hate the feeling. Never have I hated someone taking my happiness away and replacing it with anger as strong as mine in the moment.
"I'm here to see my fiancé once again, remember? You told me you loved me so much every single day, how beautiful I was, how much you wanted me by your side forever. All because I'm like you, no?"
"Attatrix, you need to go."
"Adonis, don't you still love me?"
"No! And I never will again, you betrayed me, left me for dead, and nearly killed our entire race. For greed, power, and vengeance against your father. Leave!"
"Adonis?" A small voice comes through the large area, and I turn to yell at whoever was there. I soften my anger as it turns to regret. "Little one. You came by."
"I don't go back on a promise, but you look to be busy with your fiancé. I'll have a maid show me out." Anger and hatred course through her words as she turns and leaves.
Atta's piercing laugh rings through my ears. "Little one? That is funny, a new s*x slave for you? Had to find another new one again? Oh, had sad."
I slam my fist on the table. "Damnit, Attatrix, leave!"
"Fine. You sure are grumpy nowadays. I'll be back, and I'll tell your pet she can come back in." She laughs again and her heels ring against my granite floor.
"Damnit! Maids, come clean this mess. I'm not hungry now. Keep Attatrix out of here and away from the castle."
"Yes, sir. The true guest is still here, should you want to speak with her. We are truly sorry, Adonis."
"Send her to my office. I shall be waiting there."
I storm to my office, seeing that wench Attatrix talking to my little one as I pass by. I swoop over there and scoop my little one up. "You leave her alone." I spit at witch who ruined my happiness to begin with. I bring the little one closer to me, and head towards my office space.
I harshly slam the door behind us. "I am terribly sorry, I have no idea why she was here. I have no connection to her anymore. She is a wicked, wicked person."
"What were you two talking about 'like you' and 'our race'?"
I try my best to avoid the topic, but nothing comes to mind. "My dear little one, -"
"I am not yours, nor a little one."
I growl at her. "Do not interrupt me. I am a King and you will respect that."
"King over what? I see nothing around here, except for the town miles away." She spits out attitude, and I fall for it.
"Why, King of all Dragons in the this land." The words slip from my mouth before I can prepare to tell her.
"Dragons? They aren't real, they are only myths told to children so they'll behave!"
"Oh, I beg to differ. Care to see?"
"If you shift into a dragon, I'll tell you my name" she smirks, if only I knew what was going through that pretty little head.
"Come, this tiny room is not enough space for my size." I take her hand and lead her outside, around the back to my training grounds. It's been ages since I've been back here, not since the war.
I lead her to the outskirts of my field and stop.
"Stay." I walk into the middle of the field and smirk at her. I take off my cotton shirt and lay it to the side. I decided it would be okay to just lose these pants, being sure that the little one didn't want to be exposed to everything quiet yet. I slip off my shoes and socks as well.
Starting from my head, I transform into my dragon state. My black scales shimmer in the light. A lavender hue taking to them in the sun. My bright topaz yellow eyes staring her in her own emerald green ones.
Now, what is your name?
My voice runs through her entire body as I see her shiver. I smirk at her and laugh deep in my chest.
M-medulla.
