Olivia opened her eyes and saw a familiar face.
She grabbed onto the man’s shirt like it was a lifeline. In a weak voice, she said, “Shawn, please take me away from here.”
She didn’t want Ethan to see her in such a vulnerable state.
She didn’t want his pitying eyes.
She didn’t want anything from him; she just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Shawn looked at her with concern. “How can you go back like this? I’ll take you to a doctor.”
“No, Shawn! I just donated blood, and my body’s a bit weak. Just take me home,” Olivia insisted.
Shawn’s gentle eyes softened even more with concern.
He bent down and lifted Olivia into his arms, reassuring her in a low voice, “Don’t worry, I’ll get you out of here.”
Just as Ethan rushed out, he saw Olivia being carried into a car by another man.
The man’s eyes were filled with tenderness and concern as he looked at her.
Ethan clenched his fists in anger, his eyes darkening as he watched the car drive away.

When Olivia woke up again, it was the next morning.
She hadn’t eaten for a whole day and night, and after donating so much blood, she felt a hollow emptiness in her stomach.
As she stepped out of the bedroom, the aroma of food filled her senses.
Surprised, she glanced toward the kitchen.
A tall, familiar figure walked toward her.
Shawn Yates held a bowl of porridge, wearing a pink pig apron, and smiled at her.
“I had a doctor check on you last night. She said you’re severely anemic and need to replenish your strength, so I made you some liver porridge. Come try it,” he said warmly.
Olivia smiled awkwardly, “Shawn, I’ve troubled you enough. I’ll treat you to a meal in return.”
Both Olivia and Shawn had studied law at R University, with Shawn being two years her senior.
They were both the prized students of Master Bai, a renowned figure in the legal field.
Three years ago, after Shawn graduated with a master’s degree and went abroad, Olivia had become Ethan’s secretary.
In terms of their careers, they have gone in different directions.
Shawn smiled, “Sure. Master Bai also said he misses you. Once you feel better, we can invite him out too.”
Olivia rubbed her head and laughed awkwardly, “Master was so good to me, and I didn’t follow his path. I feel like I’ve let him down. I don’t even have the face to see him.”
She had been Master Bai’s most cherished student, and he had high hopes for her, even boasting to others that she would make waves in the legal world once she entered the field.
But after graduation, Olivia had given up on becoming a lawyer to be with Ethan and became his secretary instead.
Master Bai had expressed his regret over her decision for a long time.
Shawn graciously pulled out a chair for her, smiling, “Everyone has their own aspirations. Master never blamed you.”
Olivia felt a pang of guilt in her heart.
Looking at Shawn, she asked, “Shawn, you’ve already made a name for yourself as a top lawyer in Northern Europe, with an annual income in the billions. What made you decide to come back?”
A flicker of emotion passed through Shawn’s eyes, but it quickly disappeared.
“I couldn’t get used to the food there, so I came back,” he said in a gentle tone, handing Olivia a spoon. He then casually asked, “What happened between you and him?”
Olivia forced a smile and answered faintly, “We broke up.”
Shawn’s gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds before he smiled easily. “Don’t worry, as long as I’m around, I won’t let him bully you.”
He gently patted her head, as if to comfort her.
He knew all too well how much she had suffered in this relationship.
Last night, even in her sleep, she was crying.
But before he could withdraw his hand, the door was pushed open.
Ethan stood at the doorway, exuding a cold, menacing aura.
His deep, dark eyes were locked onto Shawn’s hand resting on Olivia’s head.
Without giving them a chance to react, Ethan strode over to Olivia.
He snatched the spoon from her hand, bent down, and picked her up from the chair.
In a rush, he carried her into the bedroom, slamming the door behind them.
By the time Olivia realized what was happening, Ethan had already pinned her to the bed.
Outside, Shawn was knocking on the door frantically.
Ethan’s body radiated a coldness that made Olivia’s lips tremble.
“Ethan, you’re insane!” she cried.
His bloodshot eyes stared at her as he rasped, “I can be even crazier.”
With that, he lowered his head and bit her lips.
His mind was filled with the image of that man’s doting gaze on Olivia.
He had never felt so out of control over a woman before.
He kissed her fiercely, his lips trailing down her pale neck.
As Olivia struggled and cursed, she yelled, “Ethan, you bastard! We’re over. Don’t make me lose all respect for you!”
Ethan didn’t let go. Instead, his kisses grew even more intense.
He bit down on her chest and growled, “Already found a new lover, haven’t you?”
“We’ve broken up. Who I’m with is none of your business!”
“Is that so? What if I make sure he’s erased from the legal world? Will that still have nothing to do with you?”
“Ethan, don’t you dare!”
“My woman, and he dares to touch her? You tell me if I dare.”
“He’s just my senior. We have no romantic relationship. Don’t go after him.”
Olivia knew how ruthless Ethan could be. He never hesitated to destroy anyone who got in his way.
Shawn had just returned from abroad and hadn’t yet established a strong foothold. One move from Ethan could ruin his career.
Seeing her worry, Ethan let out a cold, mocking laugh.
“Come back with me, or I can’t promise he’ll be safe.”
At that moment, the door was kicked open with force.
Before Olivia could react, Shawn rushed into the bedroom and punched Ethan.
The room was soon filled with the sound of breaking furniture.
Olivia’s voice, filled with desperation, sounded weak and helpless.
After what felt like an eternity, the room finally quieted down.
Shawn, disheveled and with bloodstains on his clothes, stepped out.
He crouched beside Olivia, looking at her with concern.
“Olivia, I won’t be a burden that forces you to give in. Come on, let’s go eat,” he said gently.
He extended a large hand and helped the trembling Olivia to her feet.
He guided her back to the dining table.
Tears welled up in Olivia’s eyes as she looked at him. “I’m sorry, Shawn.”
“You don’t need to apologize to me. We’re fellow disciples. It’s my duty to protect you.
The porridge has gone cold. I’ll heat it up for you.”
Shawn took the bowl of cold porridge and headed to the kitchen.
At that moment, Ethan also emerged from the bedroom.
Though he wasn’t as disheveled as Shawn, his face bore signs of a fight.
He wiped his lips, his dark eyes filled with malice as he looked at Olivia.
“Are you coming with me, or staying here to eat his porridge? It’s your choice.”
Olivia’s gaze was icy as she looked at him. “We’re over. I’m not going back with you.”
“Olivia, remember, this is your choice. Don’t regret it.”
Just as he was about to leave, a call from Hannah came through.
Annoyed, he answered.
“Ethan, the surveillance footage from the break room was erased by Olivia. My parents know about it and want to press charges against her for intentional injury. You should come quickly and talk them out of it, or she’s going to end up in jail.”
Ethan’s sharp gaze landed on Olivia. Without hesitation, he replied, “Then let her go to jail.”
