That morning, Mr.Hearts sent Rosie and Alice to college and went to work with his wife. Mason had gone shopping with his fiancee. They all promised to meet at dinner. Rosie invited Draco and Alice obviously invited Asher. Draco and Asher were both nervous to meet Rosie's family.
During Mr.Blaze's period, Rosie's class was combined with Draco's as Mr.Blaze was in charge of Draco's class during their free period. Mr.Blaze started his lessons, "As you know, I've given you homework yesterday. To both classes and you've all handed it in. It was a really good try. All of you have done something new and some poems were good. Now, I will like to reward the best poem. The overall best compared to both classes, but before that, I will like that person to read their poem aloud,"
"Surely it's you," Alice hinted Rosie.
"I'm not sure,"
"So let's have the writer of the poem, 'SWEET LOVE', Rosie Hearts here, please," he called out.
Shocked but on cloud nine, Rosie went in front of the class. Some clapped and cheered but some was giving envious look, especially Julie, Liz, and Annie. She took her paper and read it aloud with great intonations and feel.
SWEET LOVE
Deep blue sky,
Decorated with diamond stars,
Bright moonlight,
The moment I forget all my scars,
With you by my side,
All the little love I could give,
You stole my heart,
And gave me a will to live,
Don't you go away,
Giving me pain,
As you were always there,
When I needed a little rain,
All your sweet memories,
That gives me life,
All those sweet moments,
That is now my life,
This will always be our sweet little love......
Everyone clapped and some even complimented her. "Rosie, can you stay back after class?" Mr.Blaze asked her and she nodded. Mr.Blaze continued with his lessons. Before going to break, Rosie stayed back as Mr.Blaze asked her to. He asked her about the poem and suggested her to use that poem or write a new one for the competition she signed up for. He even volunteered to help her with it.
After classes, Draco sent Rosie back home and promised to be there for dinner. Rosie went in and saw her brother and her soon-to-be sister-in-law cuddling without realizing she was there. "Mase, there are two innocent girls in this house," she said to him and he just pissed her off. She went up to her room. Alice was lying on the bed playing with her phone. Rosie put her bag down and went to take a shower. After that, she just sat in front of her laptop feeling fresh and started doing her research as usual. This day she was researching tarantulas as her teacher asked her to as her homework.
As she was working on it, her mum knocked on the door. "Hey, Mum," she said asking her mum to come in. Alice sat upright and Mrs.Hearts sat on the bed next to Alice and asked Rosie to sit beside her. "So, how were classes today?" she asked Rosie and Alice.
"It was nice, Mum," the girls chorused. Alice told her about Rosie's poem and she was proud of her daughter.
In the evening, the Hearts went to the nearby Italian restaurant. It was a fancy restaurant. Mr.Hearts had booked a table for them on the terrace. They went and sat at their reserved place. A few minutes later, Asher came and joined them. Alice introduced him to the family and they were happy Alice chose the right guy.
"Innocent girls without boyfriends," Mason whispered to Rosie.
"Well, I don't have one,"
"Then, who's the blonde guy you were talking to?"
"He is just a friend for god's sake, Mason,"
"Friend, you say,"
Just as Mason asked Rosie if she has a date or not a little loud so that her parents could hear, Draco came near their table. He was wearing an elegant suit. He sat next to Rosie. She explained to her family that Draco was just a friend and nothing more. They all had dinner knowing each other better. Everyone in the family loved both Draco and Asher as they were both gentlemen and guys like them are hard to find these days.
That evening, right at the dinner, Mr. and Mrs.Hearts announced that they had bought their children each a house and that Alice and Rosie don't have to stay at their rented apartment anymore. Mrs.Hearts told them that they will be moving tomorrow. Draco and Asher both wanted to lend a helping hand as it was a holiday and they have no important work to do.
That night after packing most of their things, Rosie sat at the table near the fireplace reading a book when her mother walked in and sat beside her handing over a cup of hot chocolate.
"Oh. Hey, Mum,"
"Hi, honey. Packed everything already?"
"Yes, Mum. Alice was tired and kept cursing me to let her pack everything,"
"Of course. Who wouldn't when you ask them to do these at this hour?"
"Ok. That's fair enough,"
"So, mind if I ask how you and Draco became friends?"
"It was a long story. He helped me out actually." Rosie told her what happened.
"Oh god. That's terrible,"
"It's in the past now, Mum. Since then he has always been with me,"
"And yeah. I think Draco's into you,"
"What?!"
"What?"
"Of course he is not, Mum,"
"Of course he is and so as you,"
"Mum, no way,"
"Yes, way,"
"Hun, I've also fallen in love and I can see it in the way you are with each other,"
"What?No!"
"Admit it. I'm your mother,"
"I'm not sure. I just feel happy and safe around him,"
"I knew it. Now, promise me when you are sure of each other's feelings----"
"Don't make me promise that,"
"Yes, you're going to promise me that he will be your better half and nobody else,"
"Mum, but...."
"No 'but's. I'm sure of it,"
"Okay. I promise,"
"He is a nice guy, Rosie. He is perfect for you. Don't lose him,"
Rosie smiled at her mum. The next morning after breakfast, everyone helped Rosie and Alice load their things in the truck and bring it to their new home, their very own sweet home. Asher and Draco came straight to their new home. Rosie's dad, her brother, and his fiancee went to pick up his things which their bodyguards brought in their private jet and take to Mason's house.
The others spent the whole day decorating and arranging furniture and because there were a lot of them, they finished it by the end of the day. Rosie and Alice both had separate rooms. Rosie was making dinner so they took turns to take a quick shower and sat at the dining table. Draco was inside helping Rosie and her Mum who volunteered to cook with her while Asher was constantly trying to steal a kiss from Alice in a corner. Draco was so close to Rosie when they were gossiping about Asher and Alice, teasing them. Rosie's mother pretended not to notice but she was happy her daughter is falling for the right guy.
After dinner, Draco and Asher went back home and Rosie's family stayed at their new home. "Rosie, Alice, can we have a minute?"
Mr.Hearts asked sitting next to Mrs.Hearts. "Sure, Dad," Rosie said sitting opposite him with Alice. They had a serious talk. Their parents decided to let them work part-time in their companies without ruining their studies. The girls constantly agreed as they've helped them before and got well paid for their job equally and agreed to meet them there after classes tomorrow.
Mason sent the girls to college that morning. The girls walked to class talking. "So, we're going to work," Rosie said. "And get paid for it," Alice continued. They were as happy as larks and kept on talking about the work. The first subject was Mathematics for that day. Madam Sally was back but she will be teaching different subjects. Walking down the hallway during the break, the girls were irritated by Julie.
"Here comes Little Miss Perfect and Miss Loyal Sidekick,"
"What is wrong with her?" Alice whispered
"What's wrong, git? Where's your small love affair?"
"Shut up, Julie," Alice shot a glance at her.
"Don't care about her," Rosie whispered to Alice.
Julie kept on calling them 'jerk', 'stupid', and all kinds of names until they reached the classroom. Teachers were standing there so Julie had to stop her taunts. They went in and sat at their places. It was an extra language class so some of the classes were combined. They were learning Spanish and had a 15-minute test. After the test, everyone was learning as usual. Draco was sitting next to Rosie and constantly disturbed her.
Suddenly, two policemen entered with the head professor, Mr.Trachens. Everyone was mumbling and Mr.Trachens called Rosie and Alice after talking seriously to the Spanish teacher. "Rosie, Alice, your parents....."
he started then breaking off. "What's with them?" Rosie asked shocked, a million thoughts running in her head.
"They met with an accident and----" he couldn't continue.
"And what?" Alice asked horrified.
"Your parents and brother..." he broke off again before finally saying, "I'm sorry, girls. Your family's gone,"
"NO! THAT'S NOT TRUE!!" Rosie screamed.
"Yes, we confirmed it," one of the policemen said handing over a necklace engraved 'Sylvia' to her.
The two girls cried taking the necklace. It was her mother's. Draco and Asher came to comfort the girls. "Take me there.NOW!" Rosie cried. The two policemen drove them to the hospital and Draco followed behind them with Asher. When they reached, Rosieband Alice was brought to the mortuary. They were lead to where the three corpses laid with tags on their legs. Rosie was clenching her fists and holding Alice, scared.
When the doctor revealed their faces, Rosie screamed horrified, "MUM!DAD!HENLY!". She then asked the doctor where was Mason and the doctor said he passed away just a while ago and the other three died on the spot. They brought Mason's corpse into the room and Rosie couldn't believe her eyes. Rosie went to her mum's corpse and tapped her cheeks. She was as if she had lost her mind, "Mum wakes up. I'm here. Dad, Mason, Henly. Why are you guys like this?" she started crying uncontrollably. Alice hugged her. Rosie fell onto her knees.
A nurse came in and gave her a bag with their belongings in it. Rosie stood up and dried her eyes. She opened the bag and saw her mum's bracelet that had a locket with pictures of her three kids. Her eyes teared up and tears started running down her cheeks. She cried and cried. Draco put his arms around her to comfort her. Alice wiped her tears and made herself strong for Rosie.
Everyone there comforted her. At last, they ask Draco to drive her home. She sat down on the sofa, sad. She looked around her. The walls were covered with pictures of her family. She stood up and went near the pictures. A faint smile was on her face as she saw all the pictures. She couldn't think of her life without them.
She called her relatives and informed them about the death. She also arranged a funeral the next day. Rosie felt like her whole world had been crushed. Draco, Alice, and Asher were by her side the whole time. She refused to eat or drink. She hadn't slept the whole night. She kept thinking about her family and crying in silence.
All her relatives attended the funeral and asked Rosie to stay strong as she has a long way to go in life. Draco was standing beside her, his arms around her as they buried her family members. She laid her head on his shoulder and Alice hugged her. Right after the funeral, her family lawyer, Mr.Nelson came to see her. He brought her family members' will. They sat at a quiet place. Alice and Draco were by her side as the lawyer read out the wills to her.
First was her dad's:
"I, Nathan Hearts, hereby leave all my property to both my children, Mason Hearts and Rosie Hearts. I also leave my company to my faithful, most loved daughter Rosie Hearts. The property must be equally split between both siblings. As for my adopted daughter and my daughter's loyal friend, Alice Blair, I will leave her a sum of $20 000. The family key will be passed to my son Mason Hearts and his future wife,"
He finished the will and handed her the documents. Then, he read her mum's will:
"I, Sylvia Hearts, leave my share of the property to both my biological children Mason Hearts and Rosie Hearts. I also leave the responsibility of my company to my loved daughter, Rosie Hearts. I will also leave a sum of $10 000 to my adopted daughter Alice Blair. The family treasure box will be given to my only daughter, Rosie Hearts. The share of my property will be split among my biological children,"
He handed over the papers and a small wooden box to Rosie after reading her mother's will. Then he continued with her brother's will which was written moments before his death:
"I, Mason Hearts, hereby leave all my share of property and responsibilities to my blood sister, Rosie Hearts. I also leave my house which was recently bought by my parents, Nathan Hearts and Sylvia Hearts to my adopted sister, Alice Blair. All the responsibilities and property that was given to me will now be my sweet sister, Rosie Hearts responsibility,"
He read the will finish and handed over the documents. He also gave her a gold key with the words 'HEARTS' engraved on it. Mr.Nelson asked the girls to sign a few papers to claim the property. The girls signed and went home telling goodbye to their lawyer.
