Chapter 13 Kord, a bit larger than Doyle, wasn’t easy to handle. Drunk as the proverbial skunk, Kord was unable to assist by walking much on his own, or being able to stand upright for more than a moment. Doyle had to act quickly once he got the undercover to the lobby of his condo building. Jimmy, the night man on the desk, gave them an odd look as Doyle struggled with Kord to the elevators. Thankfully, no one else was waiting and their ride up to his floor was quick. He managed to lean Kord against the wall, though Kord kept sliding off to the side. Working quickly, one hand stretched out and gripping Kord’s collar to hold him upright, Doyle maneuvered the key into the lock and pushed open the door with his free hand. “Hey…soomemin,” Kord burbled, saying nothing Doyle could understand.
