Chapter 14 Doyle felt the morning sun before he opened his eyes. With that warmth came the memory of the night before. As if it had been a dream. Was it a dream? Doyle opened his eyes. The room was quiet. He reached out an arm to where Kord had been lying when they fell asleep after a long night of lovemaking. Kord wasn’t there. Doyle reached farther with his hand but Kord wasn’t in the bed. There was no sound of the shower running and no dishes clinking in the kitchen. Doyle sat up quickly, his head spinning. With so little sleep, he felt like a zombie. Getting to his feet, Doyle scanned the room. No sign of Kord. No note. He walked into the living room thinking Kord might have left a note there.
