011: The Five Vestal Virgins ✨✨✨

1366 Words
A new life was never easy, not especially when one had already gotten used to the old comfortable one they were used to. Marceline sat in the moving cart with her body pressed to the side of the larger psrt. In front of her were four girls who looked just as hopeless as her. Some were quiet like her, while others talked amongst themselves like long-lost best friends who were on a vacation. The first girl that caught Marceline’s attention was Delphine. She had gotten her name as well as everyone’s names from the brief introduction they had made when the cart started moving. Delphine had suggested they be introduced, and in her words she said, ‘’We should atleast know ourselves, if one of us makes it out alive’’. She was cold in her speech and, for good reason, Marceline agreed, one of them may actually make it out alive and that was depressing because four of them wouldn’t. Delphine left Marceline curious. Like Marceline, She sat at a distance, away from the three other girls. She was wary and her eyes occasionally looked outside the carts’ huge windows like she suspected something was coming for them. It scared Marceline, but she tried to keep her face neutral as well. Delphine was the last girl that had entered before Marceline. She looked quite tall, which explained why her head reached the roof of the cart so easily. Her hair was shoulder length and it was black, Marceline couldn’t see her eyes clearly but they were sharp and reflected like light. She was a beautiful girl just like every other girl in the cart whose beautiful life had been cut so short. Delphine had noticed Marceline’s constant staring and she had turned to look back at her, ‘’What?, She mouthed off forcing Marceline to look at the other girls who seemed lost in their own world. The girl closest to Delphine was Giselle. Giselle was a funny one, despite barely knowing her for a day, She had successfully gotten everyone to have a good laugh, especially ‘’Grumpy Dolphine’’, As she had called Delphine, Delphine as you might have guessed was not all too happy with the sudden change of name but Giselle couldn’t care less, She was passed out on the ground by our third hour after the constant talking, ‘’I may be a slave but i need sleep, If i die tell mum that i might be a star But i would watch over her’’, With that she passed out on the ground, however she woke up later and adjusted her head on the lap of an unwilling Delphine, Delphine tried to pry the girl away but Giselle held on tight and fell asleep further. It was quiet funny to everyone and Delphine though frustrated ,moved along with it and after Giselle fell asleep, it had been quiet ever since. Giselle maintained soft features, Big doe eyes, soft pink lips and a brunette like Delphine, She looked quiet shorter which aided her body to curve like a ball as she leaned further into Delphine. Marceline could tell they would be best friends and for their situation they needed to be close knitted as they could only trust each other , especially since they would be encountering lots of non humans in their journey to Belrig. The other two girls were Odette and Renee. Odette was a blonde and so was Renee, who were co-incidentally, twins but so different as they were alike. Renee was loud , frequently excited and cried a whole lot as well. She had been bawling her eyes out when the guard pushed Marceline inside and it wasn’t until her sister calmed her down that she stopped crying. Odette was calm, She looked rested and a soft smile grazed her lips each time her sister looked at her or spoke to her, She seemed older and had been the one to comfort her sister through their journey. The sisters were interesting, they talked between their selves a lot, but not so much engaging, They occasionally talked to Delphine and had asked Marceline a question which had caused a little stair earlier on. They had just introduced their selves when Odette calmly pointed out, ‘’Marceline?’’, She thought a bit on it, ‘’I did not hear that name at the choosing’’. She pointed out while her sister whipped her head around to look at Marceline. Even Delphine looked at her suspiciously while Giselle pried her eyes a bit at her, before shrugging it off. ‘’My bet is your wicked boss wanted you dead and sent you as a tribute or you have a kink for the ‘Demon King’, but i won’t judge’’. Everyone cracked a smile at that including Marceline who knew every word of the first half of her sentence to be true. ‘’You aren’t wrong’’, Marceline admitted, Giselle raised a brow, ‘’What Part’’, she asked smiling from ear to ear, ‘’The wicked boss,’’ Marceline answered without hesistating. Giselle lowered her eyes a bit before widening them, ‘’I am all for a story.....’’, Delphine raised a brow at her and she slumped her shoulders, ‘’Well that is if you do not mind’’. Marceline forced a smile before releasing a breath, ‘’Sure , I don’t mind , i did kind off cause it i guess, I mean look at me, I am different from all of you’’. The girls nodded their heads simultaneously, Marceline wasn’t wrong, She was the only one still tied at the hands and the bruises on her barely covered body were proof of the mistreatment she had received. ‘’It’s okay if you do not talk about it, I can only imagine what you’ve been through’’. Odette looked at her compassionately before sighing again. ‘’I FELL IN LOVE’’, Marceline said as she noticed the eyes of all the girls look at her, ‘’In love with your boss?’’, Giselle yelled loudly causing Delphine to move away from her, ‘’You scream too much, They can hear you’’. Giselle sulked, ‘’Sorry Grumpy Dolphine’, she whispered at Delphine who rolled her eyes, She turned back to Marceline, ‘’Your Boss??, That’s cheesy’’. Marceline raised a hand shaking her head, ‘’No NO no, I fell in love with her son, She found out and never wanted us to be together, an opportunity came and she harnessed its full potential, She sold me to the Triante’s for a wedding with her son’’. Marceline rushed through the story, she looked at them as she finished talking, Hoping no one caught on to the biggest secret, Her violent nature, But Odette proved her right about her assumptions, She was smart and Marceline appreciated it, She had not overestimated her for nothing. ‘’Wait I have a question’’, Odette asked immediately she closed her mouth, ‘’What caused her to sell you off, surely you might have done something wrong’’. Odette said holding eye contact. ‘’Or maybe the woman saw a great opportunity as the chosen were tributes are accepted to sell her off to give room for the bride, You think too much, Dette’’. Giselle chimed in. Odette sighed slowly rolling her eyes, ‘’Firstly we aren’t that close Selle, but listen to me, If a sale is made during choosing season it has to be because the slave in question is violent or wayward, so which is it?’’. ‘’The first, I attacked her, I was frustrated and i attacked her and before you judge me-‘’. Giselle raises a thumbs up for her, ‘’You are cool, I would never’’. Marceline looked at her shocked, She expected harsh criticism but the girls shock her even more, ‘’You did what you have to do, I would kill anyone for my sister, even if it was the demon king himself’. Odette says before resting her back on the side again. ‘’You did well’’. Delphine said before resting. ‘’Thank you for the words of affirmation’’. Marceline says. ‘’You’re welcome Marceline, We are the five Vestal Virgins, we stick together’’. She said groggily before passing out.
