Chapter 11

957 Words
Khalid’s POV. Before she fainted, I felt something…. An overwhelming connection between us during her transformation. I couldn't help but feel the powerful connection between us, like an electric current pulsing through my veins. It was more like a bond between us, and I stared at her in shock. My heart raced as I made the split-second decision to knock out the wolf, which was already berserk. I knew I needed to do it to make her free…. Megan was tired, and she fainted due to the pains she went through, so knocking out the wolf was the right thing I needed to do that instant. In a swift move, I landed a firm blow, causing the massive beast to collapse, transforming back into the woman he had just been with moments ago. Megan! As I caught my breath, I began to perceive something! A familiar scent! I looked around desperate to know where the scent was coming from, but to my shock and surprise—it was coming from Megan. The scent of the man I have been searching for all these years lingered on her skin, and I stared at her in shock. I froze on a spot, as I kept staring at her, as different thoughts rummaged my mind. My mind reeled, but I knew I needed to get her to safety. I was confused as I stared at her…. “How come she carried the scent of that man?” I couldn’t help but ask myself and sighed softly. Scooping her in my arms, I carried her back to the mansion. It was a very long walk, but because of how determined I was, I was able to do it. Getting back to my mansion, I carried her back to the room. I noticed that the guards weren’t back yet..... so I ordered one of the guards they left behind to fetch them. A maid was passing by the room and I called her quickly. “Has the head physician arrived?” I asked her quickly, hoping she would answer in the positive. He was supposed to arrive because I had sent for him even before Megan tried to escape. “Yes, your highness,” She replied with her head bowed. “He’s currently in the waiting room,” She added, and I cut in sharply. “ Get him here then!” I ordered and she quickly excused herself. I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something different about her. I have always known that she was special, but this was different. “So she has been a werewolf all these while!” I was unable to stop thinking about it. There was also a connection between us that I couldn't explain. I sighed deeply and facepalmed myself before a light frown appeared on my face. I began to pace to fro, as I waited for the head physician. It was obvious about how desperate I was for answers. Numerous things confused me, and I knew it was only the head physician that could clear my confusion and doubts. Almost immediately, a light knock on the door jolted me back to reality and I swiftly turned just to see the head physician there with a sly smile on his face. “Oh, thank the moon goddess, you’re here!” I exclaimed loudly, as I walked towards him. He simply chuckled and brushed past me, walking slowly towards Megan. “Greetings, your highness,” He greeted the moment he dropped his bag. I furrowed my brows and hummed, still staring at him intently. He began to examine her slowly and quietly, but as the physician examined her, my confusion only grew. “What exactly happened?” I asked quickly, the silence in the room irked me to the core. He simply chuckled and turned to face me, “What does it look like happened?” He asked instead, and I sighed. “Transformation!” I said and he nodded. “But how come? I’m confused,” I groaned slightly, and he shrugged. “You understand it…. Look here, Megan was never a human to begin with,” He started and my eyes widened. “Never?!!” This word was the most shocking thing about the news. I was still confused as I kept in staring at the physician to give a more detailed explanation. “The intimate encounter you both shared had merely broken the seal that had kept her wolf form hidden away.” The physician said, and I felt my eyes widen. As the physician spoke, I kept on staring at him in shock. “You mean to say that she herself doesn’t know she’s a werewolf?” I asked and he snapped his fingers. “Exactly,” He smiled widely. “I really don’t know what’s funny about this,” I said to him, obviously frowning. “But I never said it was funny,” He said slowly, and paused to face me. “It’s alright, but what else is happening to me?” I facepalmed myself, as I sat on a vacant chair which occupied a corner of the room. “Like what, my lord?” He asked, and I heaved deeply. “It’s the bond I felt between us….it’s just.....” I trailed off, not knowing how I could explain myself better. “You’ll understand everything related to this later,” He said, and I sighed. I needed an immediate explanation and not this…. The physician hesitated, then finally said, "There are some other things I cannot tell you currently, my lord, but be rest assured that all will be revealed in due time.” I groaned and facepalmed myself the moment the Chief Physician said those words.
