Viktor Kozel took the call and heard the familiar rasping voice, altered by disguise software that made it sound like the man was speaking inside a tin bathtub.
“We’re closing down ‘Whisper Hunt’ as there’s been a leak. You know what you need to do. Please acknowledge.”
There was a pause on the line before Viktor uttered a simple “Okay” and the Marquis disconnected. The kidnapper stood looking at his phone for a moment and swore to himself, before glancing at his watch. He would have to deal with this personally to ensure it was done right. It wasn’t quite so much killing the woman, she knew what she was into, but having to pop the boy as well? That would be harder to wipe from his memory. He must be getting too old for this job.
