They are in their last year in junior high so the ages of the students they usually get to interacts with are bolder than when they were a bit younger. The confident boys and girls have become more expressive in their feelings while the fewer confidence became people in the shadows, on the sides, and inside their shells.
"I was sent to be on guard just in case someone tries to bother you guys during lunchtime." Jandy explained. It was not that he was against the task he was told to do. he was actually trying to appease Diana not to be upset with Lucas again. He understands why Lucas is so protective of his little twin sister. And he himself wants to protect Diana just like the way Lucas wishes all the time. It is not that he has any malicious thoughts towards Diana, it is actually because she and Lucas and the younger twins, Asher and Boaz are like his siblings by heart. They may not be from the same biological parents but they have been practically raised by the same couple who love them just like they are their own children. Of course, there are limitations to that, but without greed and only gratefulness, anyone from the orphanage they are in would be heartily thankful for this very kind and supportive couple with their humble and friendly sets of twins children.
"I know, but I feel sorry for you." Diana apologizingly answered.
"Oh, don't be." Chimed in Mel. Grinning widely. "He is actually enjoying being with us. He is being fantasized about by the girls at the cafeteria. He is enjoying the popularity. Aren't you, Jandy?"
"Yeah, right. Admit it already!" Angela agreed with Mel's crazy statement, she smiled as she does high fives with Erica who was also laughing. These girls really enjoy teasing the poor guy, Jandy. Diana shook her head smiling helplessly.
"I don't know what you are talking about." Jandy denied. He was blushing though. He is indeed an admirable young lad. He is in the top five rankers in his class. And he is among the top ten rankers in the whole school for the boys' list. A reason why he is known by the girls. And to be seen with the second top lister in the girls' list, Diana, they attract attention. They have been seen being together with seven boys and five girls ever since they started going to this school so most students knew they were friends. Some have even speculated that they might be more than just friends but he always makes sure his actions are proper. So those crazy thoughts faded away without a fuss.
They teased and laughed on their way to the cafeteria to have their lunch. Along the way, a group of guys from a different class blocked them in the hallway. They tried to walk around the group of guys thinking they didn't mean to block their way but the guy who seemed to be the leader stood right in front of Diana. That was when she understood what they were trying to do. They were intentionally blocking their way!
"Excuse me?" Diana calmly asked. She was still able to hold her sassy tone, hoping the issue will be solved in a calm manner.
"Why don't you ditch this dummy and join us for lunch instead?" A dirty brown blonde guy standing just a few inches taller than Diana had his hands in his front pocket while what he thinks is seductively speaking to Diana in a husky way was so confident. But to Diana, he was looking like a street thug trying to intimidate her and her friends with his stupid actions.
"Do you mean, I should ditch a dummy?" She asked while smiling genuinely.
"The rumor seems to be true. You are smart." The guy clapped laughing happily. He was feeling victorious.
"Oh, I should prove that rumor to be true. And since the dummy I see in here is you and your sidekicks, I am ditching you and keeping my company." Then she walked past the guy.
"Hold on a minute." The guy held Diana by her arms with a strong grip.
"Let go of me." Diana clenched her teeth as she said the last four words ever so slowly. Her blue eyes were squinted and looking at the guy so sharply.
He laughed annoyingly. "Do you mean to say, I am a dummy?" His face became uglier to Diana's eyes as he frowned at her.
"You just said it yourself, why bother asking me?" Diana did not even flinch at his anger. She looked down at where his hand was still gripping her arm. Then she saw a firm hand grabbed the guy's wrist. She wasn't surprised to see that strong and manly hand.
"She said to let her go." Jandy's voice came next. He was gripping the guy in his wrist bones that he felt they might break if Jandy did not loosen his hold on it.
"What the hell?!" The guy growled in pain and anger. He was humiliated in front of his group so he was furious. A girl rejected him. Called him a dummy. And now a guy is breaking the bones in his wrist?! How are his buddies going to respect and look upon him? He will be surely be laughed at after this if he did not fix this right. He looked around him to check if his friends were already laughing at him. To his surprise, all of them are already subdued. the three girls Diana was with were stepping on three of his buddies and had the fourth one on his knees. What the hell did just happen?!
Jandy took hold of the guy's wrist and twisted it to his back, then slightly kicked the back of his knees making the guy kneel in front of Diana. Jandy grabbed his hair by his fist and made him look up at Diana.
"Next time, know how to defend yourself first." Diana was not into violence so he gave Jandy a nod meaning to go easy on the guy. "But if you ever cross my path and annoy me again next time, I might not be as merciful as I am today." She was feeling hungry so she was eager to end this nonsense but she knows these guys won't see the end of it without being dealt with by Lucas later.
"Let's go, guys! I am starving already, let's get out of here before I eat these idiots alive." She sounded like a monster but Angela, Mel, and Erica were roaring in laughter while Jandy was just faintly smiling. They know Diana is a foodie but she would never eat these ugly creatures.
This wasn't the first time a situation like this happened to her. Ever since she was young, because of her feminine character and personality, many of the boys have tried to tease and bully her. But they were all dealt with not only once but twice and some are more. So when Lucas started taking self-defense classes when he was a toddler, he suggested for Diana to take such classes, too. He opened the topic when they were all together having a family time together where Diana told them some boys tried to bully and tease her that day. Although they go to the same school ever since playschool, kindergarten, primary, and junior high schools, there are still some times when they play separately with their friends of choice. That incident happened when Lucas was not with Diana, a good thing she wasn't alone, although they never really played alone, they bring along at least one or a few of their friends from the orphanage when they play with other kids. That time, Diana was with three of them so she was helped.
Ever since then, all of them took that self-defense lessons. Diana and Lucas had their private lessons at the barracks every weekend while the kids in the orphanage had already had their self-defense and disciplinary exercise included in their daily activities.
