The silence in the room feels a little less oppressive now that I know he’s on his way. I take a few deep breaths, trying to shake off the lingering unease that clings to me, but it’s hard. Even though Franklin’s long gone, I can’t calm down. Minutes pass, stretching on until I feel like I can’t take it anymore, when finally, there’s a knock on the door.
Thank goodness nothing I said stopped Toby from coming over. I would hate being alone today. There’s just one problem: I can’t bring myself to move.
