Thus, the clamouring of the Slavic tribes for Russia is universal. With some it arises from interior longings of the heart, while with others it issues from circumstantial inevitability, the object of which is the preservation of their life. Now, who can reject such an insistent inner voice? Individuals here and there may raise a fuss, but they will achieve nothing through their resistance, overwhelmed as they shall be by the pressure of events.
