Chapter 7: Last rite for the Alpha

1247 Words
As I stepped out of the hospital vicinity, I went over to the car as instructed by Laura and I saw a black Camry, parked next to two cars. I quickly open the car door with the key with me and hopped into the back seat. I bent my head over to the seat, to avoid anyone seeing me in it. After five minutes or so, I saw Laura walking towards the car. "She did it!" I sounded excited as I stare at her in disbelief. I'm still wondering how she managed to distract those two men smoothly. "Hey, you okay?" Her voice brought me out of my thoughts and I nodded my head in response to her question. "So, where do you plan on going now?" She hopped into the driver's seat, and start the car. "I need to get to the packhouse first..." I replied her. "Alright, let's go!" She smiled at me and drove away. When we left the hospital vicinity, I raised my head and continue to stare at Laura with astonishment. The way she's driving is more of a professional which I admire so much. I intentionally kept quiet and did not tell her the direction to the packhouse. But to my surprise, she knew it already without me saying a word. All through our journey, we never spoke to each other. She focused more on the road and I decided to keep mute so I won't distract her. I was also busy thinking about what could have happened to Cassandra that, she hasn't contacted me yet. Hopefully, she's fine! After a long drive, I and Laura arrived at the packhouse and I immediately highlighted from the car, as I was filled with anger and anxiousness. I walked swiftly with a lot of rages, as I could hear the voice and see the reflections of lights coming out from inside of the packhouse I walked into the packhouse, but when I looked behind me; Laura has stopped in her tracks and she was just watching from a distance. I was also not fully closed to where the funeral was taking place, as no one noticed my presence, so I kept on watching all that was going on from afar. It was my Mum's funeral rites and burning that were first done, as I was fully devastated and tears were flowing down from my cheeks like a river. I was still there, while Laura was standing behind me, as we both kept watching everything as they unfolds before our very eyes, and immediately my Dad's corpse was brought out to the altar of burning, I instantly noticed a deep sliced cut on his neck. "This can not be an accident cut on his neck... This is not an accident, it's a murder and you all are acting like you can't see it!" I suddenly yelled out angrily, as I charged towards the table with much rage. I started creating a lot of scenes there, as I couldn't control my anger and frustration towards everything going on then, and especially I was so disgusted by the intentional act of wickedness and conspiracy exhibited by everyone present in the packhouse. "Get the hold of yourself now or you force us to treat you as an outcast!" One of the elders of our pack yelled at me angrily, as he looked at me with a scorned face. As I was about to make another angry statement, I saw Bernard walk forward in my direction with a very pissed-off face. "I'm sorry for all that is happening, please allow me to take care of this!" Bernard said, as he bowed in the direction of the elders and they all nodded in approval of what he said. As soon as Bernard got the elder's permission, he turned in my direction and he made eye contact with guards that were standing around with a hand gesture pointing his hand towards a room. "Take her away from this place and lock her up right now!" These were the instructions of Bernard to the guards, as he speaks authoritatively with a furious look on his face. Two hefty guards approached me, as they both held my hands with much strength and I was so powerless to do anything against them, but I kept on throwing abusive words towards Bernard. I could still see Laura looking at all that was happening, but I guess she couldn't interfere or say a word; due to fear of losing her own life. The moment she saw the guards take me away, Laura turned her back and walked away with an unpleasant look on her face. "Bernard, you will surely pay for this and I will do all within my power to hurt you badly!" I kept yelling angrily, as I speaks out of pains and severe agony. *Shortly after the funeral* Immediately after the funeral that same day, the elders, Bernard, and his parents were all seated in the packhouse for a meeting, as they all deliberated on how Bernard will be sworn in as the new Alpha. "I must say to you that the whole pack and the entire elders of our great pack are all happy with you and the way you have been handling situations, Bernard!" With a hint of excitement in his voice, Elder Ramsdale said calmly with a smile on his face. "I say a big thank you to all the great elders of our pack and I appreciate your belief in me to always succeed in all I do for our great pack!" With a smile on his face, Bernard said calmly. "I suggest that Bernard is crowned as the Alpha by tomorrow" One of the elders let out his suggestion. "No, not now... We can not do that yet, I don't think now is the appropriate time please!" Beta Gilbert said pleadingly, as his wife looked at him with an unpleasant gaze. "Why can't we do it? He's already has shown and still showing us that he's fit to be the Alpha leading the Blue Moon pack and that's more reason why we should make him take charge without any further hesitation!" Elder Ramsdale uttered to object to Beta Gilbert's request. "I think that we allow today to go and Bernard is sworn in as the new Alpha of the Blue Moon pack in two days!" Luna said as she cut into the discussion with her own opinion with a very arrogant look towards her husband. "Okay, we will get the coronation done in two days... Bernard, make sure you settle everything you need to with your Luna before then!" The leader and oldest among the elders pass his final verdict, as he instructed Bernard on what to do. Bernard nodded his head, as he bowed to the elders in acceptance of their verdict. "Are you sure that Maria has shifted into her form?" With a curious look towards Bernard, Elder Ramsdale questioned. "Yes, she has and I even witnessed it myself!" Beta Gilbert quickly responded to the question, before Bernard could say a word. All these things were going on to the delight of Bernard and his Mother, but he kept his calm over every issue talked about in the packhouse. 'So I will be the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack in two days, this is the beginning of the strongest Alpha!' Bernard thought to himself, as he let out a mischievous smile on his face.
