The silence in the mansion was heavier than ever.
Sophia stood in the middle of the grand living room, her heart racing as Ethan's words echoed in her mind. Every promise he had made now felt like a lie.
"You knew the truth all along," she whispered, tears filling her eyes.
Ethan stepped closer, guilt written across his face.
"I wanted to protect you," he said quietly.
"Protect me?" Sophia laughed bitterly. "By keeping secrets from me?"
Before Ethan could answer, the front door opened. Isabella walked in with a confident smile, carrying a folder.
"It's time everyone learned the truth," she announced.
Ethan's expression turned cold.
"What have you done?"
Isabella placed the folder on the table. Inside were documents proving that someone inside the company had been working with their biggest rival for years.
Sophia's hands trembled as she turned the pages.
"It wasn't just betrayal," she whispered. "It was planned."
Suddenly, Ethan's phone rang. He answered, and the color drained from his face.
"What?" he asked.
"The board has voted," the voice on the other end said. "You're no longer CEO."
The room fell silent.
Sophia looked at Ethan, seeing the powerful billionaire she once admired standing helpless for the first time.
Outside, dark clouds gathered over the city as thunder rolled across the sky.
