Chapter 24 - wait!

2238 Words
Derek POV “Derek, no no no, please stay awake, no, you can’t, I’m sorry, please don’t leave me, I’m so sorry” her voice keeps playing in my head, her panic and pleading, I want to comfort her so bad but I can’t, I can’t even move. “Please don’t leave me” it plays in my head again. Does she want me with her? does she want to be with me? Why was she saying sorry? Sorry that she asked for the rejection? Didn’t she say wait just before I finish the rejection? But I already rejected her, is it too late now? “Hey, human, how about we wake up and ask her ourselves because you are giving me a f*****g headache” “Well, it’s about time you wake up asshole” With a growl we open our pitch black eyes, then Rex retreats to the back of my mind. I groan as I try to sit up, my back is stiff probably from sleeping for too long. Before I could fully sit up, I’m crushed back to the bed with a massive body. “You are finally up, big bro” Dean says. “Yeah and you probably broke my back Deedee, Get off of me” I say as I try to push him off. “Sorry” he says as he helps me out of bed, not objecting to the nickname. “Where is Alexandria? Is she okay?” I ask him. “Yes, she is fine” he says with a hard expression. What’s up with that? “Alpha” Dylan says as he enters the room and comes to hug me. “Where is Alexandria?”I ask both of them, Dean doesn’t answer while Dylan gives him a side glance. “What the hell is going on? You said she is fine” I ask again, getting anxious. “She is Derek, don’t worry, why won’t you change and we’ll go find her. She is probably in her room” Dylan says, and I decide to do just that and figure out what the hell my brother did later. - We are joined by Sophia, who follows us into the pack house and before I reach the stairs, I hear a crashing sound and few groans coming from the dining hall. I sniff the air and find Alexandria’s scent coming from there. I practically run to the direction of the dining hall and open the doors to a gruesome scene. Few warriors and pack members are scattered across the room, some holding themselves groaning and others with bloodied faces. What the hell? I see Alexandria on top of Natalia about to punch her, I rush to her to stop her “ALEXANDRIA STOP” she looks at me surprised and I order everyone to leave so I can figure what the f**k just happened, but before I finish my question, to my surprise Ria jumps into my arms, and what a pleasant surprise it is, I catch her tightening my grip around her, I don’t ever want to let go. We are having a beautiful moment until Dylan has to open his f*****g mouth, earning a hard swat from Sophia, that he very much deserved. “Yes, we don’t want your girlfriend to see us like that” Ria says with the biggest fake smile ever, and I gulp, she knows about Izzy and I’m screwed. We are walking back to the office and I swear I can feel Alexandria burning holes in the back of my head with her eyes; I had a similar feeling when I was in the hospital unconscious but it couldn’t have been her… could it? We reach the office and go inside and it’s the usual sitting arrangement, Dean on the same couch while Sophia and Dylan on the chairs infront of my desk, I’m on my desk chair and Alexandria as always refusing to sit like she can’t wait to get the hell out of here. “So, what the hell happened Alexandria, why did you beat the s**t out of my pack members, and how are we going to explain that?” I go straight to the subject on hands. “I was just defending myself; they’re the ones who attacked me, especially your stalker, Natalia” she says with a knowing look, and I ignore the stalker part. We have enough tension with the Izzy situation we don’t need to add more. “And why would they do that?” I ask, truly confused, and they all start with the side glances toward Dean. Okay, that’s it; it’s time to figure out what did this i***t do. “My dear brother, care to explain?” I ask Dean getting irritated. “Well… I might have said something, but I didn’t think everyone would hear it” Dean says shrugging like it’s no big deal which tells me that it f*****g is. “You said she is a hunter?!!!” I ask him, getting agitated. “NO, I’m not that stupid” Dean says, offended. “Well you are some kind of stupid if you said something that will cause, not just pack members but a few warriors, to attack her, so SPIT IT OUT” I’m getting fed up with his stalling, he needs to say the truth now. “He blamed the attack on Ria , saying it’s all her fault and practically everyone in the hospital heard it, which didn’t take long for the rest of the pack to know about it, with mind linking and s**t” its Sophia who spills the beans, irritation all over her face glaring at Dean. “You did what?” I say standing up from my chair and slamming my hand on the desk, my anger is rising and Rex is growling at our brother’s stupidity. “I really didn’t mean for other people to hear me, I was emotional and wasn’t thinking straight, it wasn’t easy for me, Derek, to see you like that... it brought a lot of s**t back and I guess I took it out on her… but she is still partially to blame, she made you reject her which made you weak, she could have waited until you are at least near the pack house?” Dean says standing up from his seat as well, almost matching my anger. “She didn’t make me do anything, I’m the one who chose to reject her at that moment” I can see from the corner of my eyes Alexandria flinching at the last part as I continue, “if she wasn’t there, I would have been dead. She saved my life you dumbass” “If it wasn’t for the rejection you wouldn’t have needed saving in the first place” Dean insists, and I have a feeling that this is about another thing entirely. “And the part about you blaming Luke’s Death on her too?” Sophia adds, she is really throwing Dean under the bus here; all the while Alexandria remains silent, staring at the window with her back to us. “No, you didn’t” I say in disbelief. My brother can’t be that insensitive, Dean is a great Beta but he can be better, he can be a great alpha even, if he just controlled his damn emotions. “He wasn’t wrong you know, this kinda what I’ve been saying all along, it’s okay Dean, I understand why you said what you said and I know you didn’t mean for the whole pack to know” Alexandria finally chipping in on the conversation. How the hell does she keep forgiving the shitty things we do is beyond me. For someone with anger issues like her, she should have bit both our heads off long ago. “No, I was Alexandria, I had no right to say what I said, and there is nothing true about a word that came out of my mouth that day, I’m really sorry, none of it is your fault and you have every right to ask for the rejection. It’s your choice anyway, please forgive me” Dean Says, his head hanging down in shame. “It’s okay Kenny, I really do forgive you” she says, smiling sweetly at him. “You really are something special Ria” he says, smiling back at her. If she forgave him, I don’t. He messed things up when he should have been in control. We need to have a serious talk but not now. “Beta, we will talk about that later, now get out and come up with a fit punishment to those who attacked her before I go and bit their heads off for attacking my guest in the first place” I tell Dean then ask everyone to leave but Alexandria . We are alone in the office; she is standing in the middle of the room with her arms crossed with one eyebrow raised. “What do you want?” “Okay… can I have the girl that hugged me downstairs back?” I ask innocently. “That was a moment of weakness that won’t happen again. Why won’t you ask your girlfriend to hug you instead asshole” Okay that was a mistake. Maybe try a different approach. “Your cheek is bruising” I say concerned as I try to reach her face, but she swats my hand away so hard that it actually hurts. “That’s because your other b***h punched me in the face” she says with an annoyed smirk. Okay wrong approach again. This is going in the wrong direction. “Okay, Natalia is not my b***h, she is just a girl with a crush that will go away as soon as she finds her mate and Izzy is my EX, not my girlfriend” I say trying to explain the shitty situation I am in. “Yet” she says. “What do you mean?” I ask faking confusion. I know what she means; it was my plan at first when I thought she didn’t give a s**t. “Oh, don’t play dumb with me, you know what I mean, why else would you invite your ex-girlfriend here if you aren’t planning to get back together” “Why do you care?” I ask smirking and she stiffens. “I don’t, but its borderline cheating… I mean I was still your mate when you invited her. If I gave a s**t this would be betrayal” she says shrugging like she doesn’t care but I can see the vane on the side of her forehead pulsing. “My mate?” it’s the first time she admitted that I’m anything but a kind stranger to her as she said. “Really? That’s what you get from all that I said?... well I was, it’s just a fact, before you chose to reject me” she says throwing my own words back at me. “You are f*****g kidding me right? You begged me to reject you, now you are upset?”I say kinda surprised with her attitude. Is she blaming me for doing exactly what she asked for? “Well.. uhm … I … you… f**k YOU DEREK” she screams at me and turns to leave but I grab her wrist stopping her, she turns her head to look me in the eyes and I take the opportunity to ask the question I’ve been dying to ask. “Did you say wait?” “What?” she asks tilting her head. I close the distant between us more and ask again. “When I was rejecting you, did you say wait?” “It doesn’t matter anymore, Derek” she says in a low voice, and I can hear sadness in her voice and it’s all the evidence that I need. “It matters to me” I say then crash my lips to hers and it is everything I expected and more. She tastes like heaven , she return the kiss just as passionately as me, we are lost in the sensation, in our own world, she is finally admitting her feelings, she is surrendering to me and it couldn’t have felt better, bond or not, she is the one I want, she is the one for me. We are interrupted by a knock on the door and that seems to snap her out of her haze, she steps away from me, her hands on her lips with a mix of emotions on her face. I groan as I go to open the door cursing whoever the f**k is on the other side. It better not be Dylan again. I swing the door open yelling “WHAT” and it's Izzy showing up at the worst time possible. She launches herself at me hugging me but I’m frozen to my spot. “Baby, you are up. I came as soon as I heard” Izzy says. The difference between Ria’s welcome hug and this is like the difference between heaven and hell. I look at Ria and she shakes her head almost in defeat, “I’ll leave you two alone” she says, and leaves before I’m able to stop her. Yup, I screwed myself royally. This is going to be a nightmare.
