The atmosphere was heavy with tension as I stood in front of the whole Crimson Pack. I felt nervous, and Twinkle, my inner wolf, was uneasy too, though I didn't know why. There was a mating ceremony, but I didn't know who it was for.
Zephyr, the Alpha I had loved and trusted, looked at me with a cold expression. I could feel the weight of his stare as he spoke to the pack.
"Zoe," he said loudly, and I turned to face him. Then, with a heavy heart, he said the words that broke my world.
"I, Zephyr, Alpha of the Crimson Pack, reject you, Zoe Axton, as my Luna."
Twinkle whimpered and growled. The news hit me like a strong punch, and the pain in my heart was unbearable. I felt like I was going to fall, and I struggled to find my voice. My legs gave way, and I sank to the ground, unable to bear the torment. Every breath felt like a battle, and I couldn't stop the tears from flowing.
Zephyr stood there, watching me suffer, his gaze still cold and unfeeling. He must have felt the pain of our bond breaking, but he didn't show it on his face. Instead, he only clenched his fist and endured the pain.
"Zephyr, please," I begged, "what did I do wrong?."
But Zephyr's eyes stayed hard, not moved by what I said.
"I'm no longer in love with you, I found someone better. You're not wanted here anymore," he said firmly. "You're banished from this Pack.
"Calista Axton is my new mate and Luna of Crimson Pack"
It hit me suddenly. My sister, who I had always loved and protected, had taken my position. But at that moment, all I felt was the intense pain of being rejected and betrayed.
"How could you do this to me Zephyr, I thought you said you loved me. What changed?' I asked seeking answers but he stood there unresponsive.
I knew that there was nothing more I could do to change his mind so I accepted the rejection
"I…mmm…" I struggled with the pain "Zoe Axton accept your rejection"
As I stood there, struggling with my feelings, I remembered I was pregnant with Zephyr's child.
I found out a day earlier and planned to tell Zephyr during the ceremony. But before I could do that, he rejected and banished me, so I have to keep the pregnancy a secret.
The pack members looked at me with pity. Some of them growled in disagreement with the Alpha's decision to banish me, but they couldn't argue because the Alpha's word was final.
"I feel sorry for Zoe," one pack member said quietly.
"It's not fair. She didn't deserve to be sent away like that," another responded.
"Where will she go now?" someone wondered aloud.
"It's dangerous out there in the woods, especially for a lone wolf," another pack member added with concern.
After the Alpha's harsh decision, I left the square feeling sad and abandoned. I made my way back to my room, where I gathered the essentials for survival. As I packed, tears streamed down my cheeks, and my heart felt heavy.
With a small bag slung over my shoulder, I took a deep breath and stepped out of the pack territory. The familiar scents and sounds of the pack faded behind me as I ventured into the unknown. Each step felt heavy with the realization that I was truly on my own now.
As I ventured deeper into the woods, the reality of my situation sank in. I was alone, pregnant, and heartbroken. Twinkle whined in protest. I found a secluded spot beneath a towering oak tree and sank to the ground, the weight of my emotions threatening to crush me.
"I can't believe this is happening," I whispered, my voice choked with tears.
"How could Zephyr do this to me? How could he cast me out like this?"
The fact that I was pregnant made me feel very worried. I wondered how I would be able to keep my unborn child safe and take care of them if I was in the woods. I felt afraid and unsure, but at the same time, I also felt very determined. I was not going to let my child suffer because of other people's mistakes.
When the sun went down and it became dark in the woods, I sat close to an oak tree, trying to stay warm and safe from the cold night.
As I sat by the oak tree, I remembered the first day I met Zephyr. I was lost in my thoughts, walking down the busy Pack streets. Suddenly, I bumped into someone. It was Zephyr. As we collided, a strange feeling washed over me, and I looked into his eyes. It was like time stood still, and in that moment, I felt a deep connection to him. We both froze, feeling an inexplicable pull toward each other my wolf stirred in excitement and mumbled
"Mate"
Zephyr held out his hand. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I replied, feeling a little flustered.
"I'm Zephyr. What's your name?" he asked, his eyes kind and reassuring.
"I'm Zoe," I said, feeling strangely at ease despite the unexpected encounter.
Our wolves, hidden within us, were already acknowledging the bond that we were forming. It was like they were nudging us, telling us that we were meant for each other.
As we talked, I found myself drawn to Zephyr's warmth and kindness. It was as if our wolves were silently affirming the connection that was growing between us, even before we fully realized it.
"I'm really sorry for bumping into you," I said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Zephyr smiled. "It's no problem at all. Honestly, I think it was meant to happen. I've never felt such a strong connection with someone before. I found my mate and it's the happiest day of my life"
His words gave me goosebumps making my cheeks flush, I couldn't shake the feeling that our meeting was more than just a coincidence.
Our wolves had known before we did that we were meant to be together. It was the start of something powerful, a bond that would unite us in a way that went beyond words.
In the depths of the night, a distant rustling jolted me from my thoughts. My senses sharpened as I strained to discern the source of the sound. Suddenly, a group of rogue wolves burst from the shadows, their eyes glinting with malice and hunger.
"We've found the exiled she-wolf," one of them snarled,
