Damon cared not whether he was respected or not. He moved a step to meet with Amelia, but it seemed he was swimming against the ocean current. He paused for a moment, but couldn't just take his eyes off Amelia's direction.
“Amelia, I want to see you in my office now”. He ordered as Amelia cared not to acknowledge his presence any longer. She lifted her face and threw an embarrassing look at Damon. Since Damon already made his command, he threw his face in another direction and couldn't see Amelia when she was using her eyes in place of a weapon.
“ You heard me right?”
He growled as he turned to look at Amelia. Their eyes cut each other. Amelia nodded her head in acceptance but continued washing her clothes instantly.
Damon turned and left the room gently.
As Damon got into his office, he was elated that he made it visible on his face. He kept smiling and smiling, not minding that he was alone. He sat gently on his seat and picked a remote control. With it, he turned on a wide-screen television that was hung opposite his table. Just after booting on, from the screen, he could see Amelia since he connected his closed-circuit camera to it. Other rooms were connected to the same television, as they were shown in grids. But he zoomed in to the part where he saw Amelia washing her clothes.
While he watched her for a few seconds, he turned his wrist and focused on the chain watch he wore.
“f**k! I'm running late.”
He screamed and picked up the landline in his office and dialed a certain number.
“Hi sir”
A lady's voice was heard from the other end as her end was quiet.
“Debby, meet me at my office now!”
He commanded without giving room for pleasantries.
The lady hastily replied,” Yes, sir”.
Damon ended the call and focused his attention back on the television. As he heard a doorbell, he turned off the television using the remote control before permitting the person entrance.
“I'm here sir”
The secretary muttered as she pushed the glass open. Her tone indicated that she was trembling.
“Tell Amelia to meet me here, now!”
Damon ordered, but his tone wasn't as horrific as it used to sound.
“Sir, I don't know the person who bears the name, Amelia.”
The secretary asked humbly.
“The lady who is locked upstairs. I want her here the next minute.”
He responded with his usual authoritative voice.
“Yes sir”
Debby, the Secretary, replied while already reaching out to her pocket searching for the key to the room. Damon already yanked his bow tie as he dressed it to look neater. Furthermore, he opened the button of his jacket, then turned on the air conditioner in his office.
************
As Debby got to the door, she was already having the door key handy but saw the door half open.
'I'm not safe' Debby whispered while scared that Amelia must have run out of the room.
Energetically, she pushed the door, forcing it to bang at the wall. Just like a camera, her eyes snapped around the room in a second, but she couldn't find Amelia.
“I said it, she's not here. What will I tell…”?
Debby was still whispering her words when Amelia came out of the bathroom.
“Huuuu!”
Debby growled while letting out a deep breath, which she was unable to tell when she bagged such air in her alveolus. Debby's face turned out to look more stressed out, though she even tried to fake a smirk on her face.
Amelia got confused by the way the secretary growled. She threw a kind of confused look at Debby. Debby composed herself to appear civil.
“Mistress, my boss said that he wants you to report to his office with immediate effect.”
Debby whimpered.
“I'm yet to finish what I'm doing.”
Amelia responded while sounding innocent.
“That's a command and not a request.”
Debby whispered with a high tune.
“That's fine”
Amelia muttered then went back to the bathroom.
“Don't keep me waiting, please.”
Amelia heard Debby talk to her while she was already in the bathroom.
However, she came out of the bathroom already changed into another dress. She went with Debby as she led her into Damon's office.
“To your duty post, Debby”
Damon whispered.
Debby replied, "Yes sir" and left the office. Amelia stood still for a few more minutes without hearing a word from Damon.
“Sir, I'm here”. Amelia mumbled while seeking attention from Damon.
“ I know!”
That was the word Damon chose as the best response to Amelia. On hearing the response, Amelia frowned her face in anger since she couldn't do anything else. She knew not whether she was there to be punished or something else, but what happened the last time Damon summoned her into the office remained fresh in her memory. Since she knew Damon to be a killer, it's only her inflexibility that makes her act nutty. But at some points, she does acknowledge the fact that Damon can do worse than she could imagine. For that, whenever Damon makes any command, she does get a flashback of where first she met him.
“Get seated, Amelia”
Damon commanded but spared not even a second to look at her. Rather, he focused his interest on the book he was reading. Amelia walked lazily to the chair and sat.
“What nonsense are you putting on like that? Didn't she tell you where you were going?”
Damon screamed atop his voice as he saw Damon dressed in a long gown that covered almost all of her body. His words and the tone he used startled Amelia, and he got up from her where she was sitting. Damon began to inspect her dress, embarrassingly.
“Even my cool don't dress in this manner,” Damon concluded as he poked his nose to show how disgusting Amelia dressed.
In all he was saying and acting, Amelia uttered no word. However, she began to observe the way she dressed. Used her left hand to yank the gown and began to check sideways whether she could see the disgusting thing Damon saw.
“Sir… I washed my clothes!”
She muttered while giving the reason for dressing in such a manner.
“Is that why you dressed like this and still have the guts to get into my office?”
Damon queried while making her see herself as thrash.
'If not because this man is a killer, I must've left here. Why is he making me look as if I'm the ugliest?'
She thought to herself as she saw Damon glancing at her from her head to her toe.
“For Christ's sake, This is a gown I used to wear while in Michigan! "
Amelia shrieked.
“Really? That was in Michigan. Now, here you are. And I don't tolerate such. Enter your room and change into something better”. Damon muttered and took his eyes off her. He continued going through the book on his table.
She was astonished by the way Damon talked to her. Earlier, she was gaining relevance gradually. But Damon's current behavior proved to her that she can never assume the position she speculated.
