Pillars Of The Future

Kris woke up after a few hours of sleeping and found Johannes sleeping beside him, sitting and waiting for Kris to wake up. [This guys is as worried as he had always been.] A smile crawls on his face. The system then notifies him that Johannes partly ate the plum which made the latter glad.

Notice: Subject Johannes has consumed half of the plum. Detecting partly improvements in both physical body and mana pool.

[At least he tried to eat the plum. Something must have happened that made him do so. Its all good I guess. As long as he don’t hinder himself too much.] Kris looks around and sees that he is in the infirmary again but finds no one inside aside from Johannes. “I’m beginning to think that I have troubled the head doctor again.” He mutters to himself and slowly and carefully gets out of bed without waking up Johannes who is sound asleep.

               Notice: Subject Jared is standing outside the door. Waiting for you to go out.

[I guess these are the times that the systems is handy. It can alert me of some people out of my radar and give me advice of some sorts.  Well, now let’s just act like we don’t know that he is outside. It would be troubling if I don’t act surprised. Yeah- let’s just do that.] Kris walks out of the door and acts as if he doesn’t know that the prince is standing outside waiting for him.

 “Looks like I troubled you again.” Kris says with an embarrassed look in his face but the doctor shoves his worry away. “Don’t mind it. I told you to do your best right? Leave your injuries to me, ad focus on getting stronger. Is what I want to say but it looks like there is no need to do that anymore. I heard that you used a f*******n spell. My assistant told me that it was a particularly dangerous one so I don’t think other students will want to mess with you if they learn of what happened.” The prince hands Kris of the possible things that would happen to him for using such a dangerous spell.

“This is doesn’t usually happen in the academy that a student will use a f*******n spell but there are regulations and rules and punishments when a student uses one. Don’t worry, you don’t need to think so hard about things. I will try my best to support you with all my power to keep you from getting expelled.” He added as Kris pretends to read the list but he is already aware of this before he planned to use a f*******n spell.

Kris bows his head after knowing that he has the full support of the prince and the future ruler of the kingdom. “I’m really happy to heard that from you Mr. I am indebted to you. I promise to repay this debt.” The doctor pat and mess his hair with a smile. “What? A student owing me? That’s ridiculous. The future of the kingdom lies in the hands of talented young people like you. I am merely here to support you and other talented students. So don’t think that you need to repay me for supporting you. Remember that the people, every individual in this kingdom has their role to fill. And you people here in the academy and the people before you will be the reason that we can enjoy this blissful peace that we are experiencing at this very moment.” The prince gently grip his shoulder and with a gentle smile, he tells Kris to stop thanking him.

[I didn’t think that the prince would be this kind of person. The last one I met was entirely different than the version that I know right now. The king and the prince I know in my past life is cold and unforgiving, maybe it’s because of how the kingdom ended in his hands after he replaced his father the current king? The organization has been really active in my past life that the kingdom is left on it’s last legs but thanks to the heroes, they were able to suppress the organization and stop its plans before more lives are gone. But a lot of lives are lost before the heroes stepped in and that is all because the church of the sending them to the furthest kingdom in the north to answer their cry for help.]

[We were left to help ourselves in those times of tribulation and many lives were lost. But this time will be different. I will be as strong as the greatest hero in history so that people will no longer have to suffer from the ravaging claws of the organization. I will protect the kingdom better than any other hero has ever had.] the prince suddenly sees the burning determination in Kris’ eyes. Not knowing where that determination came from, he wonders if his words were the root but looking back to his words. He could not find anything that would make student burn in determination.

“Your friend. Looks like he is talented as well but he is quite stubborn so he may develop his strength a little late but I guess you are aware of that since you both felt close as brothers.” He changes the topic. [I may not look like it but I am a good judge of character. Maybe this is because I have been seeing nobles that only wanted to get favor from my father, the king that I am able to develop this ability. But there is one thing that is certain. These students are the complete opposite of those people. I can rest assured that the kingdom will have strong, reliable, and dependable legs in the future. That’s why I need to do my best and serve the kingdom before I replace father and nurture talents that would be the pillar of our strength in the future.] the prince thinks to himself and did not manage to hear what Kris said as response.

“That aside, you should rest before you leave. Mana deficiency is quite a big matter for mages. I can’t have you walking around and using your mana before you fully recover. I already had you drink a mana potion  while you are asleep so that may be able to help you a bit but the mana’s returns depends on how the mage wants it. I’ll be leaving now and please heed my advice and rest.” The doctor says and then turns to Kris once again. “Otherwise I will have to turn to drastic measures to make you rest even if it is against your will.” He said with a malicious smile.

That memory will forever be nailed in Kris’ head. Every time he remembers the look on the prince’s face.  “I forgot that the prince is also a prominent mage in his younger years and that he carried that trait even to his older days.” he mutters to himself and rubs his arms. Johannes then wakes up after hearing his words. Kris looks at him while continuing to rub his arms. “What are you doing?” Johannes ask the reason for him rubbing his arms and Kris evades answering the question by asking how he found him.

“Isn’t the answer obvious? There are people talking about you in the academy while I was walking around. But to think that both of you have fainted, what kind of outrageous spell did you use to burn every single bit of mana in your pool?” Kris averts his eyes away from Johannes. Firmly telling him that he is hesitant to tell him the reason and his friend did not dig in further.

“Anyway, there were people that are interested in you after that so you should expect some stalking and pestering you from now on. I will not insist for the answer but please be mindful of what you do Kris. How can we be strong if every time you recover from an injury and get released from the infirmary only to be sent back a few hours later? No matter how I think about it, its hopeless to train like that. Not to mention your recklessness would claim your life if you are not careful enough.” Johannes continues to give him an earful while the doctor and the nurse listens outside the infirmary.

“I never thought that he can be a pushover. They are closer than I initially thought.” The prince/doctor chuckles while listening to Johannes tearing out Kris’ ears but his nurse on the other hand remains calm and collected. [What is the thing that I saw? A creature inside his head? No- that’s impossible. There hasn’t been like that even from our family’s century long legacy. I should ask my family about the thing that I saw. They are the only ones that can give me a definite answer.]

The prince sees the concern in his assistant’s face and pats her back. “Don’t think about it too much. You must be pretty tired to have seen such things. It’s normal for tired people. All you need to do is rest, that’s all. You have the tendency to overwork yourself after all. That is one thing that concerns me the most. You must always look after your health , you will make me worry whenever you pass out like that.” The assistant immediately blushes and nod her head.

Surprised of his assistant’s sudden agreement he felt assured but her sudden strange behavior after he said those words left him scratching his head.

SLAM!

               “Kris that bastard. I will definitely get him expelled. This is the second time that Mathos got severely injured. His father will definitely kill me.” The teacher says after leaving a hole in his table.
