Chapter 18

As they made their way out of the house, Rory couldn't help but wonder what other secrets were hiding in the shadows. And what lay ahead for her, now that she knew the truth about Emily and Cassius's plans.

Elijah led them to a black SUV, which was parked a few blocks away from the house. As they drove away from the house, Rory noticed that Elijah seemed to be taking a circuitous route.

"Where are we going?" Rory asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Elijah's eyes locked onto hers, his expression serious.

"We're going to a safe house," Elijah said. "A place where you'll be protected from Cassius and his men."

Rory nodded, her mind racing with questions. But before she could ask any of them, Emily spoke up.

"There's something you should know, Rory," Emily said, her voice firm. "We're not just ordinary people. We're part of a larger organization, one that's been working to take down Cassius and his empire."

Rory's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Emily.

"What organization?" Rory asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Emily's expression was serious.

"We're part of a group called 'The Phoenix Initiative'," Emily said. "We're a secret organization, dedicated to protecting people like you from Cassius and his ilk."

Rory's mind was reeling as she stared at Emily. A secret organization? Protecting people like her?

And then, just as she was starting to process this revelation, Elijah spoke up.

"We're here," Elijah said, his voice low. "This is the safe house."

As they pulled up to a nondescript building, Rory couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. What would happen to her now that she was part of The Phoenix Initiative?

Elijah's eyes scanned the perimeter of the safe house, his mind racing with thoughts of Cassius and his men. He knew that they would stop at nothing to capture Rory, and he was determined to protect her at all costs.

But as he watched Rory step out of the SUV, Elijah's thoughts turned to The Phoenix Initiative. He had been a part of the organization for years, working tirelessly to take down Cassius and his empire.

But as he looked at Rory, Elijah couldn't shake off the feeling that he was hiding something from her. The Phoenix Initiative was not just a simple organization - it was a complex web of secrets and lies, and Elijah was not sure if he was ready to reveal the truth to Rory.

As they stepped inside the safe house, Elijah's eyes locked onto Rory's. He knew that he had to tell her the truth, eventually. But for now, he was content to keep his secrets hidden, at least for a little while longer.

"Welcome to the safe house," Elijah said, his voice low. "You'll be safe here, at least for now."
