Chapter 1
Sierra
I was about to leave when my phone rang. I brought it out from my bag,Liv. Not who I was expecting but I picked regardless.
“Liv,’ I said tiredly. There was silence.
“Olivia?” She finally sighed.
“Why are you answering my calls like I’m disturbing you?”
“You didn't call me to complain, Liv , did you?”
“Well I called my best friend to check up on her but she's giving me the attitude,” she complained.
I sighed.
“Are you okay?” She asked with concern.
“I’m stepping out,” I replied “can we talk later?”
“Dinner date?” I didn't reply “Are you going on a date with Dante?”
“I’ll talk to you later Liv.”
“f**k you!”
“I love you too,” I replied as the line went dead.
It's our Anniversary today and Dante hasn't called or even replied to my text messages. We haven't talked for days, which should be weird but I have come to understand that he's a busy man and doesn't have time most of the time. But our Anniversary? He should respect that. Well I was going to his house, maybe he forgot and I just have to visit him and remind him.
Dante's house is weirdly quiet, almost like no one is home,I would have thought so if the computer didn't mention he was home. I have his passcode. He gave them to me three months after we started dating. One thing about dating a billionaire is having to be cautious about everything. You get to use a passcode to enter his home and also get scanned by computers. Well they know me now.
I dropped my bag and headed upstairs. Maybe he came home tired and is resting now. That was when I heard the sound, at first, it sounded like a painful grunt but as I fastened my pace and came closer it began to sound like a moan. There were two voices! One was higher than the other but it's definitely two people moaning. No no no! Dante can't be cheating on me. He loves me. He always tells me that. I walked faster but my heart was racing faster than I was. I paused right at the door. Not knowing what I was going into. Somehow I already knew but a part of me was still wishing it'd turn to something else. Finally, I opened the door and there it was! My Dante's head is right in between the Woman's legs. He was eating her up. Dante never put his head in between my legs,he said it was never his thing but he's right here doing the exact thing to this Woman!! They didn't even notice me, It was like they were in their own world. He looked like he was really enjoying this. Dante never looked like this whenever we were having s*x. I looked at the Woman then, blonde hair, white, slim, and really beautiful woman. Did he like them blonde? Was that why he was cheating? Liv is a blonde, did he ever think of doing this to her? They still haven't noticed me.
“Dante?” I whispered shakily. He looked up and sighed immediately when he saw me. Not shocked, sighed like I just disrupted a beautiful moment for him.
“Why is your assistant entering your room without knocking?” The blonde b***h asked. I wouldn't have tagged her a b***h if she didn't call me an assistant. A f*****g assistant! Dante ignored her.
“Wait for me downstairs,” he ordered outrightly. I looked at him blankly. Really? This is what he has to say? Dismissing me downstairs so he can finish up s*x?
“Can you please tell me what is going on?” I was livid already, what did he take me for? He stood up then.
“Wait for me downstairs,” he repeated.
“No. Why are you having s*x with another woman on our anniversary?”
“Anniversary?” The b***h talked again.
“You're cheating on me Dante?”
“It's cheating If we're dating Sierra.”
My heart stopped beating. What did he just say?
“Excuse me?”
He sighed. “I told you to wait for me downstairs but since you want to do this here, I’ll just get to it. Look, we can't do this anymore Sierra.”
I raised my eyebrows
“This!” He pointed at us “We are not compatible. I can't be a billionaire dating someone like you. Someone I can't even go out with.”
Someone like me. Did Dante just call me less?
“I am not a nobody Dante,” I whispered. Trying not to cry.
He scoffed. Bastard.
“This is how you want to treat me for dating you?”
He scoffed again. “You're saying it like you did me a favour Sierra. I did you a favour! I put up with you even when your family didn't. But I can't continue. I need a woman who is at least my level.”
I smiled.
“And you didn't have the decency to break up officially?”
“You invaded my privacy. You brought this upon yourself.”
“You sleep with another woman on our anniversary, and this is what you say.”
“It was bound to happen Sierra. You never grew. You refused to work at your family company. Even your sister is better than you!”
“I was following my dreams!”
“Well your dreams are useless!”
That hit me like a nail. He sounded just like my Dad. The one person I thought was on my side just called me useless. Looked me in the eye and called me lesser than him.
“Thank you Dante.”
“You're welcome,” he said sarcastically.
I dropped his keys and went to the door.
“You can still intern with us, Let it be the one good thing you at least achieve,” he said.
I turned them. “f**k you Dante! f**k you and your Company. I don't need you. Not anymore.
“Good luck trying to pick up your life together Sierra!”
“Good luck trying to satisfy her, we all know you can't!” I shouted back as I walked out. That was when the tears dropped. Two years of dating Dante and this is what my life has become. He thinks I’m useless. My family does too. Maybe a part of me thinks so too. But I’m going to prove them all wrong, including myself. Dante thinks his company is the only Business corporation that will make my life better? Well he has a lot coming. I held out my phone and looked at the picture on screen. Cross holdings. I thought applying with them would be betraying Dante because they are his rival. But who gets betrayed after all? I laughed sadly. I sent out my application then. I will intern at Cross holdings and I will prove to them all that I was not useless!
I entered the Uber and finally dialed my best friend.
“What? Dinner isn't going well?” She asked sarcastically. Obviously still pissed
“Yes,” I whimpered.
“What's wrong Sierra?” Liv asked, sounding concerned. Her anger was replaced with care.
I let out a cry then.
“You're scaring me, Sii," she said softly.
“He called me useless, Liv, and said I was less than him.”
“Dante?”
I nodded as though she was there. She took my silence as affirmation.
“That bastard!” She said, making a standing noise. “I’m coming over Sii.”
“He was eating up a blonde,” I whispered.
“She probably dyed her hair. No original blonde will let someone like Dante go in between her legs.”
I laughed lightly then.
“Are you home? Do we need to kill him today?” Liv asked.
“I’m almost home. Please come.”
“On my way sweetheart, even though I would have preferred poisoning Dante.”
“I applied to Cross holdings,” Silence.
“Liv?”
“I’m right here, what did you say again?”
“I applied to Cross holdings.”
“Oh my God. Thank God. Finally! f**k Dante still Sii but If that was what it took to make you do this. Thank God.”
“I just lost my boyfriend Liv.”
“Who is a big fool but that's by the way. I will get pizza baby. We are celebrating.”
“Nobody celebrates breakup Liv,” I stated
“Well, we do.”
I dropped the phone and smiled then. Liv is the only person that understands me and I’m so happy I kept my friendship with her.
I looked at my phone again. I hope Cross holdings accept me. And then I will prove to Dante and the others that I am way better than them.
