The Unseen Mate

Chapter 12

    Andrea, Daniel and Charlie walked into the shop. From what she could hear the night before had been very successful. She could hear all of the people in there who had either found their mate or made new friends. This was the one thing she really enjoyed after the ball. The chatter between both wolves and humans alike showed that they all could get along with each other. One other thing that made her smile was realizing that the companionship that had been formed would last a lifetime. Andrea broke away from Daniel and went to the front counter to get some cleaning supplies, she could tell there were a few tables ready to be cleaned. As she started to grab them a voice called out through the crowed "ANDREA!" Camille sounded excited. So excited that a few people stopped talking to listen in on Camille's loud voice. "Andrea!" The faint light became darker as Camille got infront of her "Where have you been!" Camille asked worry evident in her voice. She had even taken Andrea's hand as if to confirm it really was her. "I looked for you everywhere last night and I couldn't find you." Camille pulled Andrea into a hug letting her know she was loved by the people around her. 

    Andrea allowed her to give her a hug and chuckled a little "I'm fine, Camille, I promise" Andrea pulled away and smiled at her. "How did your night go?" 

    Camille gave a soft sigh and her voice became excited "I found my mate."

    "Oh Camille that is awesome!" Andrea said drawing Camille back into a hug "What's his name?" 

    "his name is Carlos and he's from the new pack that Anthony had invited to the ball." Camille sighed again "We're going to stay here for a few months so I can get ready to move in with him after we get married."

    "That is so amazing Camille!" Andrea really was excited for her, Camille had been waiting 3 years to find her soul mate and was about to give up, this ball had been her last chance "Well just remember that you can't leave until you make Charlie a brides maid" Andrea and Camille had made a joke a year back that when she found her mate they would dress Charlie up in a cute little dress even though he was a boy. Every time they brought it up Charlie would slink away hoping they wouldn't notice. The only problem in his plan is the fact that his vest made noise where ever he went and his claws were always on some sort of hard flooring and never on carpet.

    "I wouldn't dream of it!" Camille gushed "I have the perfect dress for him, I just wish you could see it."     

    "Well you will have to explain it to me when you have it on him." Camille agreed and gave Andrea one last hug. She then slipped away to join Carlos in their booth. Andrea started to grab the cleaning supplies when she heard Charlies paws attempting to tip toe into Martha's booth. "Charlie" Andrea said in a commanding voice, causing several conversations to stop "Get out of there right now." Andrea heard Charlie slip and then scramble back to her side. His head nudge Andrea's hand. Andrea chuckled a little and scratched his ears. "You're going to get me into trouble one of these days." Andrea whispered, Charlie licked her hand and followed her to the first booth to clean.

    The day was going by pretty good, more people came in through out the day to continue conversations from the night before or gossip about the new things to come. Andrea did get sad though, the whole time she was working David did not come in. "Are you ok?" Daniel asked her, he finally got a break and came to sit with her in the booth. Andrea sighed and shrugged her shoulders. "Oh," Daniel said his tone told her he realized what had happened. "He didn't come in..." 

    "It's ok I promise." Andrea said "These things happen for a reason." Daniel and Andrea sat in the booth talking for a good minute when Andrea had a scent come across her nose that told her what she had been waiting for. "He's here," She whispered, A smile crossing her face. Andrea got up and walked towards the front of the shop and heard the bell ring. "Welcome..." Was the last words she got out when a shot rang through the store. 

Back at the Pack house

    "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE WAS AN INCIDENT AT THE SHOP!" Anthony shouted through the phone. He had gotten a phone call from his second in command and the news was less than pleasing. The voice on the phone told Anthony the fear he had been hiding ever since Andrea and him had gone to the Courtroom. He had heard the displeased sound that came from a person across the courtroom when the verdict had been given and the threat the men had said under their breath before they both left. He did not want to have anything else happen to Andrea, and now the fear he had, came into fruition. "Is she ok?" Anthony barked into the phone. The voice on the other end was stuttering and did not want to give an answer "IS. SHE. OK?" Anthony's alpha tone came out and vibrated through the phone. The wolf on the other end whimpered and gave the answer he was dreading. "I'll be there in 20 min, NO one but me and the medics are allowed near her, Do you understand?" the voice gave a solemn yes and hung up. Anthony had hoped that they were finally done with these types of attacks but it looked like that was not the case "What else can happen?" He asked himself as he shot down to his vehicle to make it to Andrea.
