Chole's POV
I turned to the man beside me. He had to answer the lady that had just descended the stairs, dressed in flamboyant clothes and had accessories all lined up on her body. But I just didn't like it. I hated it.
I don't know but something just didn't sit well with her and I couldn't tell what it was.
"She's Chloe," Colton answered before I could utter a word. She scrunched her nose in distaste.
"And where is this Chloe from?" The woman asked as she wrote my name on the air with her fingers.
"Don't get too worked up" I wanted to say but then I let them get stuck in my throat.
She came down from the last step and watched me like a prey but Colton didn't seem to notice it but I did.
"She doesn't have to pretend" I thought.
"Seems like we are currently letting unwanted guest into our house Colton" She said toying with her hair.
I rolled my eyes,"I almost thought for a second that she was going to allow me stay" I thought as she walked past me and to the Alpha.
I wonder what kind of relationship they shared.
"She's not an unwanted guest Malia" Colton retorted.
So that's her name… Malia. Well who cares. She doesn't care about me too and she showed it just like I wish to show mine too.
I stared at the figure that just walked past me before returning my eyes to its original position.
I let them have their discussion but Malia made sure that I heard everything.
"We can't keep her here" she said as if I wasn't in the same room as they were.
"Why?" Colton asked.
"We are living together, that's why you can't just bring a stranger to this house without my consent" she roared.
I could feel the tension building around them.
Was I the cause of this?
"Last time I checked Malia… this is my house and not for the both of us and I give the orders here and not you" he said.
Malia stomped her foot and hissed before leaving like a child that was throwing tantrums.
He shook his head. "Women, there's just a lot if things to figure out about them" he said before getting up to join me.
"I'm sorry" I apologized almost immediately. Colton's brows raised.
'Was he surprised?'
"You are apologizing for what?" He asked as he relaxed on the seat.
"For causing you this trouble" I said and he moved closer to me.
"You did nothing wrong, just forget about what my sister did, she would come around later" he said and I nodded.
So she's his sister.
Interesting.
"Are you hungry?" He asked scanning my eyes to get a reply from them before it came from my lips.
"No" I shook my head a bit and he gave me a sturdy look.
"I don't believe that" He replied, his eyes never leaving my face.
"Ook" came my short reply but my stomach grumbled almost immediately.
"You can't lie to me now" Colton said with a smile and I was sure that I was red with embarrassment.
"I arranged a meal for you" he said as he got up from the couch and walked over to a table that had chairs around it.
"Looks like the dining?" I asked out loud to have him nod.
"Yes… and I prepared something for you. Why don't you come over?" He asked and I hesitated for a few seconds.
"Come over… you have nothing to worry about" he said and I did as I was told.
It wasn't because I didn't trust him but I was afraid of almost everything and anything happening to my child. It feared me the most.
I made my way to the dining and he pulled out a chair for me as I sat on the chair and the plates were flipped open for the food to be on display. My mouth watered.
It has been ages since I last had a sumptuous meal and I just couldn't help myself.
"Should I start eating?" I asked Colton and a smile lit up on his delicate face.
"Mmmhmm" he replied with a nod and I delved into the dish in front of me before digging into the others too.
"Slow down dear" he said and I felt his hand go over my shoulders and my breath hitched.
'What was that?' I asked no one in particular.
I had stiffened all of a sudden and he helped to dish a few spoons into my plate.
"You should eat healthily" he said and I could only nod like I was in a trance or something.
But I shook my head at once.
"I will leave you to it" He said as he left the dining room while I watched him recede back.
I couldn't still tell what happened. It felt so strange for me to fathom.
I continued eating and for a split second it felt like someone else was watching me too.
I had abilities that I am still trying to learn and understand and staying at Dean's place made it difficult to cultivate the skills I have.
I tried to strain my senses to discover if there was anyone around asides me but I felt a sting.
I felt weak. I need enough rest, that's for sure. I continued eating the food.
"The aroma is just everywhere" I said as I took the other plates. Plates and pots were sitting beautifully on the table and they looked just as appetizing as the food tasted.
There was a knock on the door. I looked around the room with wide eyes.
I hadn't realized that Colton had totally left the room.
"Who would be visiting them by now?" I asked myself but I remembered that it was the Alpha's place so it was so normal.
The knock came again, incessant this time around. I got up to get the door.
But I heard the voice;
"I will get the door," Colton said as he went over to the door.
When did he get here?
