Secrets Unveiled

Clara got up, came to Jael, consoled her, helped her up, and took her to her room. Jael got to her room and told Clara she wanted to be alone. Clara could see the pain in her eyes and how shattered she was, but if Jael needed her space, she’d give it to her and allow her to take time to be okay. Noah kept driving and hitting his car’s steering wheel out of anger and pain while Mateo drove behind him. Mateo kept calling Noah’s phone, but Noah ignored the call. “Thank goodness he came home. I know how he can be when he’s angry and upset. I don’t think I would have been able to handle him if he had gone elsewhere.” Mateo thought when he saw Noah take a turn towards his house. They got to Noah’s house. Noah packed his car, came down, and ran inside. “What is he going to do now?” Mateo wondered as he packed, came down, and ran behind Noah. “Noah! What is going on? I’m getting scared! Talk to me, man, what are you thinking?" Mateo was scared when he got inside and saw Noah seated on the couch in his living room, smiling. "Mateo, calm down; I'm fine." Noah replied, “What? When? How? and where?” Mateo asked. Noah got up, went into his room, and came out holding some papers, which he handed over to Mateo. “Noah! What's this? Were you going to give all your properties to Ella? Good thing you did not sign this. It would have been a big mess, but why didn't you inform me?” Mateo asked as he went through the documents, “No! I mistakenly came across these documents a month ago in Ella’s bag; she was planning on a way to get me to sign them.” Noah sat down on the sofa. “Such a spiteful woman!” Mateo said, “My car was overheating, the other cars weren’t washed, and I was running late for a meeting. I asked Ella for her car since she wasn’t going anywhere that morning, and she asked me to check on her dressing table for the car keys. I went into Ella’s closet to look for the key on her dressing table, but it was not there, so I started looking everywhere in her closet. Then, I noticed some papers inside a file that looked like documents underneath her wardrobe, and that was strange because Ella never handles any paperwork; she always thinks it is stressful. I thought maybe it was one of my documents because I had recently misplaced an important document and was on the lookout for it. I bent down, took the file, opened it, took the papers out, and to my biggest shock, when he looked at the papers, they were documents of transfer, transferring everything Noah owned to Ella once signed by Noah.” Noah continued, “Man, you went through this alone? Why didn’t you tell me? I’ll have helped you get through this.” Mateo stated, “I stood there shocked for a minute; my face became pale, I felt my heart racing, and my eyeballs opened wide. Man! My brain couldn’t process the betrayal. I wanted to be sure because, even with the documents, I couldn’t believe Ella would do something like that, so I didn’t raise an alarm. I took photos of the documents, packed them back into the file, placed them underneath the wardrobe where I found them, and continued my search for the key. Then I heard Ella calling me from outside; she had seen her keys on our bed. I took the keys from her, gave her a goodbye kiss, and hurried off to my meeting.” Noah sighed. “Oh my goodness, you went through all this alone, brother. I wish I would have known." Mateo patted Noah’s back. The living room door opened, and Ella walked in with her face bowed down. She came in and kneeled in front of Noah, holding his feet. “Babe, I am very sorry for the way I behaved. I am very sorry I lied. I have no excuse, but life has been very unfair to me, and I had to do whatever I could to be at the top of my game.” Ella cried “You hoe, I’ve always seen you for who you are and have warned Noah about you. I just wish he would have listened to me.” Mateo yelled, “Stop it, Mateo; don’t call her names. Yes, she lied and deceived me all these years, but that doesn’t give you the right to call her a hoe. She was only doing what was best for her, and she owed me nothing. I just found her stranded on the streets, took her in, and expected her to love me. Of course, she’ll play along because she wants a place to lay her head, but what about you? You’re worse! You’re like a brother to me, and you’ve betrayed me in such a substantial manner.” Noah got up, ran into his room, and locked the door behind him. “Noah! Noah!” Mateo called as he banged on the room door of Noah. He couldn’t understand Noah’s outburst, and he wanted to know what he did wrong. Ring. Mateo’s phone rang on the sofa where he was sitting. He ran, pushed Ella, took his phone, and picked up the call. “Hello, who is this, please?” Mateo asked. “Hello, Master Mateo, it’s me, Clara. Please come quickly; something is happening to Jael.” Clara cried, “Jael! Okay, I’m on my way." Mateo screamed, “Did I hear you say Jael? Did anything happen to my mother? What have I done?” Ella asked Mateo, but Mateo didn’t pay attention to her; he kept banging on Noah’s door. “Noah, I know you hate me now, even though I do not know how I betrayed you, but please do this for Jael. Clara just called to say that something is happening to her and I need to go there quickly, and I know she’ll need you too. Please, let’s go be there for her.” Mateo said. Noah opened the door, came out, and said, “Let’s go." Mateo was sad but happy too. “Can I come along?” Ella asked, “You can; it’s a chance for you to make things right. Ella, use it wisely. I’ve seen how much Jael loves you. She was helpless without you; she has been strong, but a lot of things changed the moment you left, and she was always talking about you.” Noah smiled. The three of them walked out, and Mateo called Clara back. “Where should I meet you?" Mateo asked, “Master Mateo, we are in a hospital close to the mansion. I’ll send you the location, sir.” Clara answered, "Okay, I’m on my way.” Mateo replied, “I think we should use Mateo’s car so that we get there early and as a team to be there for Jael.” Noah suggested. Ella nodded, and Mateo didn’t say a word. Then Mateo entered his car, followed by Noah, who sat in front, and Ella, who sat behind, and then drove off. “I hope I’m able to convince them that I’ve changed; then I’ll continue my plan.” Ella did not know that Noah knew more than he was saying. “Noah, do you mind continuing the conversation we were having?” Mateo asked, "Okay," and Noah answered. “I was extremely shocked when you said I betrayed you. How?” Mateo asked, “You betrayed me. I found out about Ella throwing herself on you behind my back from a private investigator. Do you know how that made me feel? Hearing such an important thing from a stranger when my best friend could have just told me. I watched pictures and videos proving Ella has been approaching you countless times, and I could not believe it. I knew about the hotel; I was there in the CCTV control room, looking at and listening to you both.” Noah explained, “Man, I’m ashamed of myself, but I do love you. I promise I was only trying to protect you, and I never touched your girl or accepted her requests.” Mateo replied, “I know; you never touched her, and you continuously rejected her. What broke me was that you didn’t warn me. Even when I came up with a plan and told you I wanted to propose to her, you did not tell me anything. Is that what a brother should do? Would a good brother watch a brother he loves make a big mistake and mess up his life without stopping him?” Noah asked, “Oh no, Noah, I truly love you, man, and I’m sorry for not telling you; I’m sorry for not being a true brother. I am truly ashamed of myself, and I have no excuse. I have failed you, brother, but please find a place in your heart and forgive me for my mistakes.” Mateo said as tears dropped from his eyes as he drove. He truly loved Noah and never wanted to hurt him; he was disappointed in himself for not telling Noah. Noah didn’t say a word after that; he just turned away. “I played myself when I thought Noah was innocent and naive; he’s a wise man. Noah knew all this, and he still acted as if everything was alright. I’ll just try and win him back. After all, he was my man, and I know how to get him.” Ella smiled. They got to the hospital, Mateo packed the car, and they came down and ran inside. “Is Jael okay? What is happening?” They asked when they got inside and saw Clara crying, “Master Mateo, I don’t know, she just fell and became unconscious.” Mateo was broken the more, but he couldn’t help but notice Clara’s selflessness. “When did she meet with Jael to show such an amount of love and affection towards her? She’s so pure.” Mateo smiled at Clara. “Why is Master Mateo smiling in such a situation? Maybe he’s trying to act tough. Behind that smile is a lot of pain; I can see it.” Clara felt sorry for Mateo and went to sit beside him, saying, “Everything would be fine, Master.” Clara said as she stretched for her hands and held Mateo’s hands, and Mateo held on tighter. Noah just sat there, numb. “Babe, oh, sorry, Noah, I'm very sorry all this is happening to you; you're a strong man. You'll be fine, and this too shall pass.” Ella whispered to Mateo, trying to touch his hands. Mateo ignored her, got up, and went outside. Minutes later, the doctor came out, and everybody jumped up, eager to hear what was happening to Jael. “Are you the ones that came with the old lady?” The doctor asked, “Yes, yes, is she okay?" and they said, “She's fine; she just went unconscious, probably because of stress.” The doctor said, “Can one of you follow me to my office for the paperwork and test results?” The doctor continued, “Okay, doctor, lead the way.” Mateo answered as he walked behind the doctor. They got to the office, entered, and the doctor offered Mateo a seat. “Who is she to you? I mean the patient.” The doctor said, “She's my nanny." Mateo answered, "Well, your nanny needs a lot of rest. She had a heart attack because of too much stress, and if she doesn't rest, it'll lead to a stroke. We would give her the necessary medications, but you need to do your part too; do not let her do hard work or get stressed.” The doctor continued, "Okay, doctor, I'll make sure of that. She'll get more than enough rest. Thank you very much.” Mateo shook the doctor's hands. “You can go and see her now, and don't forget to make the payments and collect her medicines before you go. She can go home tomorrow.” The doctor concluded, "Okay, doctor." Mateo smiled as he walked out of the doctor's office. “We can see her now,” Mateo told everyone. “Can I talk to you?” Ella said to Mateo, "Oh, okay." Mateo replied, “My mother is sick and Noah is hurt, so I can’t stay at his; I don’t even know if he wants me anymore. I want to make it up to my mother. Can I stay at your place so that I can take care of her? that if she agrees.” Ella asked Mateo, "Oh, okay, I’ll do this for Jael, but only if she agrees, because I think Clara can take care of her; after all, she’s been more of a daughter in days than you have been in years.” Mateo replied Ella didn’t say a word; she just thought, "Of course I cannot get Noah; maybe I can get Mateo.” They both walked into Jael’s hospital room. Clara and Noah stood by the bedside, talking and making jokes with Jael. She could not laugh hard, but she kept smiling. “Are you guys forgetting me already?” Mateo said as he held Jael's hands and smiled, "Jael, I have a surprise for you." Mateo continued, "Oh, my dear Mateo, What is it?” Jael smiled. “Ella would be staying at our house because she wants to make up for the lost years and take care of you, but only if you want her to.” Mateo concluded, “Of course I want her to; she’s my daughter no matter what.” Jael replied, “What a coincidence, Jael; you’re loved. I’m moving over too until I’m sure you’re fine.” Noah said. Noah knew Ella had a motive for going into Mateo’s house because he knew more than he had said. “You all don’t need to stress yourselves; I can take care of Jael.” Clara added, "No, Clara, I’ll need you to take care of Mateo; Ella would take care of me, and I know Mateo would take good care of Noah while I take care of you. There you go; everyone is taken care of; one big family.” Jael smiled.
