I was just a human girl in a kingdom ruled by wolves—seen as nothing, a mere dirt beneath their feet. He was the hottest, most terrifying Alpha in school… and somehow, he wouldn’t stop calling me “Little Kitten.” I hated him. I detested him. Yet, no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t stop longing for him.

But I wasn’t as helpless as I seemed. Hidden within me was the blood of an ancient wolf, one even the Alpha king bows to. This is the story of a weak, bullied girl… and the transformation that would change everything.

CHAPTER ONE
CHAPTER ONE Anna’s POV Have you ever lived your whole life believing you were human, and then suddenly—boom!—you’re told you’re half werewolf, half human? Yeah… that’s exactly what happened to me. After my dad suddenly died from an illness, strange people came to visit us during the mourning period. It was also around that time my sister got her wolf. I was already ten then, so my mom explained everything to us. My father was a werewolf, and my sister inherited his werewolf gene… while I remained human, just like my mom. “Anna!!!” my mum shouted from downstairs. “I’m coming, Mum!” I replied, hurrying down the stairs after briefly glancing at myself in the mirror, my hands clutching my school bag. “You’re going to be late for school, Anna,” my mum said, smiling slightly as she served scrambled eggs and toast. We had moved into the werewolf pack mainly because of Freya. “Mum, she’s such a weirdo,” Freya said, rolling her eyes. “Whatever,” I murmured, adjusting my oversized glasses before sitting down. “Mum, you need to lecture your daughter on dressing,” Freya added with a smug look. “Leave her alone,” Mum sighed, glancing at me. “What’s wrong with my dressing?” I asked. I was wearing a long black pleated skirt and a white shirt with black prints. I had tucked it in. I knew I wasn’t great with fashion, but I didn’t see why it was such a big deal to others. I was a nerd—at least, that’s what everyone at school called me. It had always been me and my books, even back in the human world. Did I say I was popular? Yes… but only because I was a target for bullying. Almost everyone made it their duty to torment me. In the human world, I could still cope. The rich kids only mocked me with words—they never went beyond that. But here, in the werewolf kingdom, things were different. I had lost every bit of self-esteem I once had. Now that summer break was over, I was terrified of going back to school. Worst of all… was him. “Anna, why did you stop eating?” Mum asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. “N-no, it’s nothing,” I stammered, quickly taking a bite of my food. Mum watched me for a moment before turning back to the sink. Since Dad died and we moved into the werewolf kingdom, things had been really difficult. We were barely surviving. Mum worked at a grocery store, and sometimes I helped her after school. It wasn’t easy. Although the current king had made a law allowing humans to live freely among werewolves, not everyone accepted it. Some still treated humans badly. Freya had finished college two years ago and now worked at one of the most popular hospitals. Because her wolf was special, she had been appointed under one of the Alpha’s sons. But that didn’t improve our situation much. People still looked down on her—because of us. Because of me. Sometimes, I felt guilty for everything she had to endure. She supported the family with what little she earned. I admired her elegance and sense of fashion so much. Despite everything, I was still grateful for what we had. I believed that one day, everything would change—especially if I got the chance to attend university. Peeeeeemmmmm!!! The school bus honked loudly. “Anna! Get out here!” someone shouted. I choked on my food and jumped up. “Your ‘friends’ are here,” Mum chuckled. Friends? More like bullies. “See you later, Mum!” I rushed out of the house. But before I even got to the gate, the bus had already started moving. “Hey nerd! Get your lazy ass running!” Jacob shouted while others laughed. I ran after the bus, my heart pounding. “Wait! Stop! Let me in!” I yelled, banging on the door. But the driver sped up again, clearly enjoying the game. This went on a few times before he finally slowed down. I climbed in, ignoring the disgusted looks from the other students. And yes—this happened almost every day. Except when my best friends, Stella or Emma, picked me up. Unfortunately, they were both still on vacation. I sat down, plugged in my earphones, and connected them to my phone. It was old, but I cherished it—it was the last gift my dad gave me before he died. I had taken great care of it for seven years. Soon, we arrived at school. I waited until everyone got down before stepping out, using my thick hair to hide my face. “Anna!” I looked up to see Emma rushing toward me with a relieved smile. “Oh my God, are you okay? I’m so sorry! Stanley sent a driver for me, and my phone died—I couldn’t text you,” she said. “I’m fine,” I smiled. “I can’t always depend on you guys.” Emma and Stella were my only friends. Emma felt like a sister, while Stella was my best friend—more like a soulmate. We walked into the school together. Immediately, I felt eyes on me. “OMG, look at how she dresses,” one girl mocked. “So irritating,” another added. “Let’s go,” Emma said, glaring at them as she pulled me along. At my locker, she hugged me. “I’ll see you during break.” I nodded as she walked away. I sighed and opened my locker, taking out my books. Just as I was about to close it— BAM! A loud sound echoed through the hallway. “Long time no see, kitten.” My blood ran cold. I felt like fainting from fear.
