Jaxon walked into his office, still thinking about the mysterious woman from the night before. He couldn't believe he had slept with a stranger, and yet, he couldn't shake off the memory of her. Throughout the day, he found himself distracted, his mind wandering back to her. He didn't know her name, her number, or anything about her. But he couldn't deny the connection they had shared. He told his best friend and business partner, Ryan, about the encounter. Ryan listened, raising an eyebrow. Dude, you're Jaxon the CEO. You don't do one-night stands. Jaxon shrugged. I know, but there was something about her. She was different. Ryan nodded. Well, maybe you'll see her again. Maybe she'll turn out to be someone important. Jaxon smiled wryly. I doubt it. But I can't help thinking about her. As the day went on, Jaxon's thoughts kept drifting back to the mysterious woman. He felt a twinge of guilt, wondering if he had taken advantage of her. But he pushed the thought aside, focusing on his work. Ryan nodded, his mind already focused on their upcoming project. Yeah, let's put it behind us and concentrate on the Smith account. We need to nail this presentation if we want to land the deal. Jaxon agreed, and the two friends dove into their work, brainstorming ideas and strategies for their presentation. But despite his focus, Jaxon's mind kept wandering back to the mysterious woman. As the day wore on, Ryan noticed his friend's distraction. Dude, you're not still thinking about her, are you? he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice. Jaxon shrugged, feeling a little embarrassed. "I can't help it, man. There was just something about her..." Ryan chuckled. Well, maybe you'll find her again. But for now, let's focus on the Smith account. We can't afford to screw this up. Jaxon nodded, pushing his thoughts aside and diving back into their work. But he couldn't shake off the feeling that his encounter with the mysterious woman was far from over. Meanwhile, Maya was dealing with her own thoughts, still reeling from the events of the previous night. She had pushed Ryan away, afraid of her family's wrath, but she couldn't deny the fact that he had helped her. Maya's heart raced as she walked into the bathroom, her mind filled with dread. She had been feeling strange for days, and she knew she couldn't ignore it any longer. Joan, I need you to come with me, Maya said, her voice shaking. Joan followed her to the bathroom, concern etched on her face. What's going on, Maya? You've been acting strange all day. Maya took a deep breath before speaking. I think something's happening to me. I've been feeling...different. Joan's eyes widened in understanding. Oh my god, Maya. Do you think it's...? Maya nodded, her eyes filling with tears. I'm scared, Joan. I don't want it to be true, but I think I might be...changing. Joan's face softened, and she put a gentle hand on Maya's shoulder. We'll face this together, okay? Let's just take a deep breath and check. Maya nodded, her heart racing with fear. She knew what she might find, and she wasn't sure if she was ready. But with Joan by her side, she steeled herself and looked down. Joan assured her and they went to hospital to be sure. As they waited for the results, Maya's mind raced with thoughts of her family's reaction. Her father's anger, and her stepmother's mocking words. What if they do something terrible to me she worried, her mind racing with worst case scenarios. Joan noticed Maya's distress and took her hand. Hey, we'll face this together, okay? Whatever the result, we'll figure it out. But Maya knew that Joan couldn't protect her from her family's wrath. She felt trapped, like she was living in a nightmare she couldn't wake up from. Finally, the results came, and Maya's heart skipped a beat as she saw the word positive staring back at her. She felt like her world was crashing down around her. Maya felt like she was living in a dream, a nightmare that she couldn't wake up from. She looked at Joan, her eyes filled with tears What am I going to do? Maya asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Joan took a deep breath. We'll figure it out, Maya. We'll find a way to deal with this together. But Maya knew that Joan didn't understand. She didn't know what it was like to be part of her family, to have their expectations and demands weighing her down. Why don't you try aborting it Joan suggested. Maya's eyes widened in shock as Joan suggested abortion. How could you even suggest that, Joan? This is my child we're talking about. Joan hesitated, realizing she had overstepped. "I just thought it might be the easiest solution, Maya. You don't want to have to deal with your family's drama, and this way, you can just move on with your life. Maya shook her head, her mind racing with emotions. I can't believe you would even suggest that. This baby may have been a mistake, but it's still my child. I can't just get rid of it like it means nothing. Joan apologized, realizing she had hurt Maya's feelings. I'm sorry, Maya. I didn't mean to upset you. I just want what's best for you. Maya took a deep breath, trying to calm down. I know you do, Joan. But abortion is not the answer. I need to find another way to deal with this. Joan nodded, supporting Maya's decision. Okay, Maya. We'll figure something else out. Why don't you go somewhere far where no one knows you and stay there for some while. Maya nodded, knowing that Joan's suggestion was the only way to keep herself and her baby safe. You're right, Joan. I need to get away from here, at least for now. Joan helped Maya make arrangements for a secluded retreat, a place where she could hide and protect herself and her baby from her family's wrath. As Maya packed her bags, she felt a mix of emotions. She was scared, but she was also determined to keep her baby safe. I'll go and stay there until the baby is born, Maya said, her voice firm. And then, I'll figure out what to do next. Joan nodded, supporting Maya's decision. That's a good plan, Maya. You can't stay here, not now. Your family will stop at nothing to hurt you and your baby. Maya knew that Joan was right. She had to protect herself and her baby, no matter what. As she left her home, Maya felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was finally taking control of her life, finally standing up to her family's abuse. But deep down, Maya knew that she couldn't hide forever. She would have to face her family eventually, and when she did, she would have to be strong and brave. As Maya sat in the airport lounge, waiting to board her flight, she felt a sense of fear and uncertainty. She had never traveled far before, and the thought of starting a new life in a strange place was daunting. She looked around at the unfamiliar faces, feeling a pang of loneliness. She was leaving behind everything she knew and loved, including her best friend Joan. The two friends had cried as they drove to the airport, hugging each other tightly as they said their goodbyes. I'll miss you so much, Maya had sobbed, her voice shaking with emotion. I'll miss you too, Joan had replied, her eyes welling up with tears. But we'll keep in touch, I promise. And I'll visit you as soon as I can. Maya had nodded, feeling a sense of comfort at the thought of Joan's support. She knew that she could always count on her friend, no matter what. As she boarded the plane, Maya felt a sense of trepidation. She was leaving behind her old life, and starting a new one. She was scared, but she was also determined. She took a deep breath, settling into her seat as the plane took off. She was ready for this new chapter in her life, ready to face whatever challenges came her way. As the plane soared into the sky, Maya gazed out the window, watching as the familiar landscape below grew smaller and smaller. She felt a sense of detachment, as if she was leaving behind a part of herself. She thought about Joan, and the promises they had made to each other. She knew that their friendship was strong enough to withstand distance and time. Maya took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. She had a long journey ahead of her, both physically and emotionally. But she was ready to face it head-on. As the plane hit cruising altitude, Maya pulled out a book and began to read.
