Chapter 37

“Take care okay? I’ll be back before you know it.”

I hug my mom goodbye as one of Sir Steve’s driver drove her to the airport. As always, she’s going back to China again. I’m the one suffering from her consistently flying back and forth that I actually suggested for her to just stay in China, but she gave me a very hard no and dismissed the conversation immediately.

I know that she’s worried about my health, but she’s also worried about Angelo and Uncle Loui that’s why she’s taking all the effort just to take care of all of us. She mostly stays with me for at least two weeks then fly there for another two weeks before coming back here.

I know. Just reading that is making me exhausted in so many levels. That’s why whenever my mom is here, I don’t even want her to lift a finger. If I can do anything, I’ll do it so she can just lay in bed and rest. But of course, she refused again. for her, whenever I do something, it puts me into dangerous situation because of my frail heart.

“Your mom already left?”

I nodded as I gave Sir Leo a glass of water. He came here to visit me and also talk about the album that I’m going to put up.

“You better take care of yourself while she’s gone because she’s going to kill me if you don’t,” he jokingly admonished as I drink my water too.

“Will do,” I answered.

“So. How’s the preparation for the album?” he asked as I got my recorder and guitar from the sofa.

“I wrote a total of 10 songs already, but they’re literally not finished,” I answered as I sighed hard.

I guess most people would understand if I said that starting a song is easy, what’s hard is actually finishing it. It’s a little confusing because I have so much to say but I can’t seem to do it right. this is incredibly frustrating!

“Let me hear them,” he said as he gave his full attention to me.

I was startled when he clapped his hand like a kid in a magic show excited for the tricks he’s about to see. “That’s amazing!”

“Really?”

“Yeah!”

I continued playing him the songs that I have written until dark came and he has to go because he has a boyfriend to feed. Kidding! Sir Steve can eat by himself. But they choose to do it together and that’s why they’re too adorable for my heart.

After eating stir fried beef for dinner, I drank my medicines before finally going to bed.

This day is tiring as it is, but I can’t seem to find my sleep. Because I already turned and tossed myself all over the bed, I’m convince that there’s something bothering me. And so, I checked my phone.

Yeah right. he said to wait, and it’s been almost two weeks, but he hasn’t called me yet. Even just once. I know that he’s pissed at me and that’s probably why he’s making me wait like a lost puppy in the woods waiting for her owner to come back.

I mean I understand where he’s coming from but that did not lessen the agony of waiting for a call from him. Or am I even waiting for something? Maybe he’s just messing with me. What if he’s just messing with me?! s**t!

I was still rumbling about the possible things that Silas is thinking when my phone rang. And it’s an unknown number. If this was the next day after he said he’ll call me, maybe I would be excited. But it’s almost two weeks already and in those days that I patiently waited for his call, I answered all the unknown numbers and it’s annoying because it’s just crazy high school students pranking people.

Or sometimes, salespeople who offer all kinds of things that I’ll probably never used. I even got a call from a bank maybe asking if I want another credit card! It’s so annoying that it made me doubt whether to pick up this call or just drop it and sleep tight.

But because I was literally desperate for him to call me, I still took the chance and answered the anonymous caller.

“Hello?”

“What took you so long to answer?”

Shit! It’s Silas! What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to say? Think Erina! Think!

“I’m sorry I thought it will be another prank call and so I hesitated,” I answered. I waited for him to speak but no words came out of his mouth. “Thank you for calling me anyway,” I said in the sweetest voice as possible. But I guess I just sounded like an overly joyed high school kid.

“Prank call?” he sounded cold and serious but hearing his voice gave me chills that I can’t help but smile. Nothing has change. He’s still it.

“Yeah. People have been calling me asking if I want to borrow money or something,” I answered like I was just talking to a friend. “And there’s even someone who called and said that my brother got into an accident and that I needed to deposit money or something which is crazy because how did they know who my brother is right?”

“An accident?” I thought he sounded curious and almost laughing but I guess that’s just my imagination.

“Yeah! And they said it’s a vehicular accident. Like what the f**k my brother’s only five!” I continued talking enthusiastically that I even forgot that he’s my ex-boyfriend and that he’s actually mad at me.

He went silent again which made me realize that I’ve talked enough nonsense with him. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to blabber around.”

“Are you going to the company tomorrow?” he asked.

Well, no. I don’t go out that much. I literally go out to just buy food and that’s it.

“Yes,” but I need this chance. So bad.

“Let’s meet there.”

“Okay.”
