Vivian Carter ’s POV
When the call connected, I nearly ground my teeth as I said, "Dominic Blackwood, what do you want from me?"
Dominic Blackwood's tone was devoid of any guilt. "You used to handle these things, but now that you've stirred things up, you've messed up my plans. Of course, I've forgotten about it."
Implying that it was my job to take care of everything, he blamed me for not being able to find his stomach medicine. This was classic Dominic Blackwood—always pushing the blame onto me, including the fact that I fell in love with him and married him. It seemed everything was my fault.
I could barely contain my frustration. "Dominic Blackwood, we're about to get a divorce. You should be getting used to this kind of life!"
I wasn't his maid, catering to his every need. Honestly, it would be better if that man just suffered!
After hanging up, I immediately blocked Dominic Blackwood on Line and his phone number, wanting some peace and quiet.
However, after that chaotic call, I found myself wide awake. I decided to get up and organize my files in preparation for the company bid the next day.
As soon as I opened my suitcase, I spotted several boxes of medication, with my handwriting on the labels.
These medications were undoubtedly for Dominic Blackwood. Three years ago, he had undergone a kidney transplant and needed to take medication for life. On top of that, his frequent business trips had left him with stomach issues.
But he was the type of person who lacked patience; he'd rather deal with piles of paperwork than read the medication instructions. So every time he traveled, I would carefully label the dosage and precautions on the boxes for him.
Habits were indeed a terrifying thing. I tried to cut ties with Dominic Blackwood, but I forgot that some things had already woven themselves deeply into my very being.
Dominic Blackwood’s POV
I frowned at the mention of the word "divorce" on the phone.
After spending a few days away, the woman had clearly become wild, even resorting to threatening me with divorce at the slightest provocation. Who did she think she was? If anyone was going to bring that up, it should be me.
I tried to contact Vivian Carter , only to find that she had blocked my number and Line. My expression darkened immediately. She had been pushing my buttons lately, completely overestimating her own strength.
At that moment, Ethan brooks's phone buzzed. He glanced down and cautiously handed the phone to me. "Mr Dominic, it's a message from Vivian."
Ethan looked up and met my icy gaze, shivering slightly under the intensity.
When I finally read the message, the frostiness on my face began to melt away. Women were truly contradictory creatures; she had prepared my medication but still wanted to throw a tantrum. If she was just trying to get my attention, she didn’t need to go to such lengths.
I actually preferred her when she was obedient and understanding. After all, I needed a Mrs. Blackwood , and the Blackwood family required a daughter-in-law like Samantha.
Ethan brooks chimed in, "Mr Dominic, Vivian clearly still cares about you; otherwise, she wouldn't have asked me to pick up the medicine."
I shot him a cool glance. "What are you standing there for? Go get the medicine."
Ethan quickly gathered his things and stepped outside, only to see me already getting into my car.
He hesitated and asked, "Mr Dominic, should I go get the medicine, or are you going to do it yourself?"
I scoffed. "Do you think I should indulge her?"
Ethan really wanted to ask, "Then why did you get in the car?" But he didn't dare to.
After driving to the hotel where Vivian Carter was staying, Ethan glanced at me, who wore a cold expression. He immediately understood—I didn’t want to move because I cared about my pride. With no other choice, Ethan took it upon himself to knock on Vivian's door.
Vivian Carter ’s POV
Before long, the door swung open.
I raised my chin slightly and said, "The medicine is over there. Please tell Dominic that I'm about to get a divorce. It's best to avoid any misunderstandings."
Following my gaze, Ethan spotted several boxes of medicine next to the trash can by the door.
It seemed I had originally intended to throw the boxes away but had changed my mind.
Before Ethan could respond, I had already closed the door.
Dominic Blackwood’s POV
When I received the medicine, I noticed that the boxes had been scratched, making the neat handwriting somewhat smudged. I knew Vivian's habits well, and seeing the state of the boxes made me frown.
"Did she say anything?" I asked.
He certainly didn't dare to relay my wife's exact words. Instead, he carefully rephrased it, downplaying the situation. "Vivian wants you to take care of yourself."
I smirked slightly and handed him a box of mango mousse. I had just gone out to buy cigarettes, and since the cashier had trouble giving change, I had grabbed the mango mousse to make up the difference. I didn’t really like sweet foods anyway, so it was no big loss to throw it away. It was better to give it to her.
But would she think I cared too much about her, remembering that she liked mango mousse?
I thought for a moment and then picked up my work phone to send her a message: "It's just a gesture, don't read too much into it."
Vivian Carter ’s POV
When I received the message, Ethan happened to hand me the mango mousse. I scoffed and tossed it straight into the trash can.
“Tell Dominic this: I’m cutting out sugar from now on. He should save his efforts for Scarlett.”
Ha! Giving a slap and then a sweet date was Dominic Blackwood's usual tactic. I used to see him as my whole world, forgiving and accepting him without limits, but that version of me was long gone.
After throwing the mousse away, I still felt unsatisfied and quickly replied: "Dominic Blackwood, you seem to have misunderstood. I was actually planning to throw those medicine boxes away, but I thought if something happened to you, I'd be blamed for being a husband-killer. So, take care of yourself, and let’s part on good terms."
After sending the message, I immediately blocked his number.
Dominic Blackwood’s POV
My face darkened, and the air pressure inside the car dropped sharply. Had I been too indulgent with her, allowing her to push her luck like this?
Ethan, who had failed to carry out my orders, said nervously, “Mr Dominic, women throw tantrums just to make men lower their guard and appease them. Why don’t you say a few soft words to Vivian and smooth things over?”
I coldly replied, “In your dreams!”
I realized I couldn’t be too nice to her; otherwise, she would only take advantage of it.
Vivian Carter ’s POV
The next day, James scott and I arrived at the Vyx headquarters. To keep my identity hidden, only James's name was listed on the bid proposal. According to Vyx's procedures, we could only meet with the head of Vyx after our bidding plan was approved.
We were seated in the reception room, quietly waiting. James, feeling the urge to smoke, stood up and headed to the smoking area.
At that moment, a mocking voice broke the silence:
"Have all the admirers died? Why let a housewife who can only handle her household be the negotiation representative?"
"Don't say that. Even though Vivian lacks a degree and skills, there must be something exceptional about her for Mr. Scott to rely on her so much."
"Hmph, exceptional? Well, she has been a wife for three years; she must have some unique qualities, right?"
