Chapter 4 Searing pain shot through him, from his heel to his ankle to his thigh. Again, Jonathan shot straight up in bed. He kicked his foot to dislodge whatever creature was attacking it, and was surprised when nothing went flying across the room. It felt like Rodents of Unusual Size had latched on to his leg, and they wouldn't let go. This time, Jonathan illuminated the bedside lamp without delay. The night was so hot he'd pushed off his blankets and kicked down the sheets. He was totally exposed, vulnerable to attack. But attack by what? The sensation was incredibly familiar. He'd experienced this sort of thing many times before, but always at Ben's place. In Ben's bed. There he'd be, fast asleep and minding his own business, when the cat would suddenly terrorize his feet.
