ADRIAN POV.
“I never loved her…”
The speaker blasts my voice..
I stood rooted to the ground staring at Adessa.
“Ades i-”
"Shut up!.” she cuts me off harshly.
"Ades, I can explain," I leaned closer trying to touch her, but she pulled backwards,
"How much were you worth?" She fired back
"How much could you reduce your standards for ?!" She used my words against me
“Was everything we had a joke? The kisses, promises, was it all a joke?”
"I—it was just-" I bowed my head. There was nothing I could say.
“It wasn't just supposed to go that far but I lo-”
"You disgust me," She spat my lips trembling.
“I love you” I uttered but it was completely useless now.
At first it was just an harmless bet but getting close to her knowing her I fell and I wasn't even aware.
I had made up my mind to tell her after the party.. I was going to confess, plead and ask for her forgiveness before everything happened.
Before I could reach out again she ran. I followed after her hoping to catch her but she had entered her car driving away.
“Arrgh” I screamed into the dark night. The pain and betrayal I saw in her eyes shattered something in me.
I felt ashamed.
"Dude...where's she" Mason asked breathless as he ran to the garden.
"She left, I wasn't able to stop her" I knelt slamming my fist against the floor.
"How the hell did it get played?, Someone could have recorded it and the person had access to the speakers but how?"
His word made me freeze, my stomach twisted. He was right.
"Where are they?, where's Kris and Lim?" I asked.
"Dude what are you trying to say?" Mason frowned.
" They're are aware of the bet, they were there"
Mason hesitated before speaking "I'm not sure they did it one, they are your friends".
" Friends huh"
What if I wasn't a friend to them, what if it was a one sided friendship, what if they where the ones who played it?

I was heading for my room when my dad called for me.
“Kneel” He said in an authoritative voice not even taking a glance at me.
Not a command but order.
“Do you know that you've disgraced the Cross family, all news headlines are “SON OF THE CROSS FAMILY PLACED A BET ON A GIRL. HOW DOES HIS FATHER TRAIN HIM. . You ruined my name for a girl.”.
WHIP!
The sound of the belt landing on my back reverberated in the room.
But it wasn't compared to the pain I saw in her eyes.
“Take him to the cellar, he is not to be with any electronics and give him just water, nothing else” He said after hitting me to his satisfaction.
I straightened not wanting to show him an ounce of weakness because that was what he fed on me being weak.
The door shut. Darkness followed.
Nothing to distract me from her voice, the pain in her eyes.
I curled up like a ball hoping for days to pass by so I would be released and I could go ask for her forgiveness.
***
Seconds turned to minutes, minutes to hour's, days flew by. I was completely lost in track.
Adjusting my eyes to the brightness I could see the door of the cellar room was open.
Standing up my head spunned for a moment before I dashed off heading to my room to clean up before leaving.
“Where do you think you're going?”
I stopped in my tracks recognizing the voice. It was my dad.
“Dad please let me …leave”. I said quietly.
It was the first time I had ever begged him for something. I could see the shock on his face before it turned into something else.
I could sense it was disgust and disappointment.
“On the table there's a letter for you”
I walked to the table, hesitating before hurriedly tearing it open to read the contents.
A word catches my eyes first. Hate
My knees weakened giving out as I landed on the floor. Words blurring and my breathing uneven. I was filled with shock.
My Adessa was dead, the girl who had brought light into my dark life and she hated me.
I was the cause if only…
“You're leaving for England tonight, you've done more harm than good to this family” My dad said his voice steady as he was discussing business not talking to his son.
“And you're getting engaged to Ella”
I blinked while staring at him. I always knew he was heartless.
“Dad.. She's” I could hardly bring myself to say it.
I stood weakly still in shock but it was done already.
She was dead and I was the cause.. And I died with her.
It was all my fault but a part of me still wanted to believe it was a dream that I was going to wake up and she would be by my side.
And I wasn't allowed to even mourn for her. I wasn't even able to say goodbye.
I let out a hollow laugh before eventually crying as my hand reached for the necklace she had given me caressing it.
