CHAPTER 1
"Father, I will not have any relations with a woman for now", he scowled, looking fiercely at his father.
" I have to make the announcement of your engagement at the big event coming up.", his father said looking as displeased.
"This will not only make you my successor but also secure your spot at the top 1% of the country's associates."
"Why do I have to please the associates? This is my life we're talking about here." I replied, pressing a finger to my temple. I was tired of hearing the same words every single time.
"You're my son, I have a say in whatever you're to do with your life and I am worried about you. The future of the company rests on your shoulders."
I took a deep breath. "I can't win this!", I said under my breath.
Alec stood up from the chair he was sitting in. He looked displeased and walked out on his father.
Alec's POV
"What does he think he is about to do?", I said to myself as I walked to the car where Andy, my driver awaits me. He noticed my countenance and decided to keep quiet throughout the ride. I was grateful but felt bad however.
Walking into the company's premises, I was informed about the interview session I was to have with a couple of people applying to be interns at the office.
"It's always a new thing everyday with this place, not a moment of peace and quiet."
"I can't deal with this", I muttered to myself as I flipped through the list of names in front of my desk. "Ten interviews in a day?, this must be a joke."
Lisa's POV
I woke up feeling good about the day and I got dressed quickly in order to catch the early bus. Spraying my perfumes, I kissed Mother goodbye and stepped out of the house. The walk to the bus stop was fifteen minutes long and I had to be on time so I sprinted a little.
The bus arrived on time and soon, I was standing in front of the block of offices. "This place is huge", I mused to myself as I was ushered in with nine other people. The employees were clothed in identical suits which had the company's logo imprinted on it.
I watched as the most handsome bachelor in the country walked into the reception where we sat. My heart raced and I adjusted the crease on my shirt. He was a beauty to behold.
The interviews began shortly and we were called in one after the other.
It soon reached my turn and I walked into the inner offices. A cold shiver ran down my spine when I saw him seated amidst the interviewers.
"Welcome to the largest company in the country", one of the interviews said. I smiled a little and bowed my head..
Alec's POV
It was her eyes that caught his attention. He looked up at her and straightened in his seat. He would employ her, he knew at that moment.
"Why am I drawn to this woman?", I asked myself when she sat. She had a very timid smile and she bowed her head slightly.
" She's not so confident", I muttered under my breath. Anyone who wants to work here must be confident and bold. I flipped through her CV. She had very good qualifications and I was pleased with it..
"Congratulations, you're hired", I said to her as I stood up. I cancelled the other interviews and I walked out of the room. It was rude, I know and I enjoyed the shock on their faces.
Lisa was still in a bit of a shock as she was shown her desk. She would be working for Alec as his personal secretary and she would find out it was a rather tedious position.
Mac's POV
I strolled into Alec's office to check on him. He had been having a rough time lately and his parents aren't taking things easy on him. He had to prove his position as the successor of his father's companies by getting married.
"Hey man, what's good?", I raised my voice as I swung his door open. He looked up from his desktop with a little smile on his face.
"I'm tired of my parents already. They are forcing me to get with a woman in time for the company's big event". He let out a sigh and I pitied him.
He ended a five year relationship with his ex girlfriend three years ago and he isn't over her yet. "That manipulative b***h", I said to myself. She really put him through a lot and it took a huge toll on his social life.
"What do you say we go out for a few drinks tonight?", I said, trying to cheer him up.
" Alright, but not more than a few drinks. You know what happened the last time you had a few bottles", he added in a mock attempt to tease me.
We laughed and I walked out of his office. I called Isa to meet us at the bar that night. "Maybe he'd be interested in her", I shrugged.
