CHAPTER 2

550 Words
Lisa's POV I walked from the bus stop to the bar where Anna, my best friend works as a bartender. Since I started work, we have been filling each other in on our experiences over the phone. "Anna!", I called out as I sat at the bar, waiting for her to show up from behind the counter. She raised her head and her red hair shimmered in the warm glow of the sunset behind the windows. She smiled at me and passed a bottle of soft lemon drink. She knew my favorite thing to drink after a hectic day. "Guess who I am working for?", I said as soon as I gulped down the drink she placed in front of me. She rolled her eyes back and laughed. "Tell me, I'm curious", she whispered as she giggled like a little schoolgirl in love. " Just guess", I prodded, giving her a chance to mention a couple of names. The tension in the air was subtle, leaving hints of suspense. "Oh, the suspense is killing me", she replied, throwing back her head and laughing. "The most eligible bachelor in the country, Alec Andre", I said, slipping my palm over my mouth. She gasped in excitement. Her eyes caught the sun rays and it shone. She giggled with this childlike aura. "I'm so happy for you. I heard he isn't over his ex girlfriend yet", she added. I nodded and asked for a refill of my cup. I didn't want to listen to her litany of words and rumors. I was tired enough. I still had to visit the hospital to check on Father. "I miss him so much", I muttered under my breath and smiled at Anna. Just then, Alec walked in with his friend, Mac. I hurriedly stood up to greet Alec but he looked the other way and walked away. Mac acknowledged my greetings and hugged me. I turned red from embarrassment and I walked out of the bar. "Dickhead", I muttered to myself as I swore to get back at him. Alec's POV As we walked into the bar Mac had picked for us today, I saw her again. " What's she doing here?", I shrugged as Mac led the way in. I was too tired to deal with anything. Her eyes lit up when she saw me and she walked up to greet us. "Hi.",she said when she got to where we stood. I looked at her, then looked in the opposite direction and walked away. Mac acknowledged her greetings as he stood to ask her a few questions and to perhaps make her feel better. "I don't care.", I shrugged as the bartender walked up to take our orders. "What should I get you", she asked me and I asked her to get the usuals. Mac soon caught up with me and gave me a what-you-did-was-not-so-cool look. I shrugged and looked out of the window. I really wanted to go home. Mac soon stood up and left to bring a girl in. She walked gracefully, in a sequined dress. I rolled my eyes and picked up my cell phone. She walked up to me and sat beside me, trying to engage me in a conversation. "My driver's outside.", I said and walked out of the bar.
