SAPPHIRE’S POV:
I smiled as I felt the strong arms of My Man, making me stop moving around. I know I was in my room at the condo I bought in New York. I was so tired to open my eyes so Adam carried me all the way here. Even though I was half asleep, I didn't even lift my finger to let him know that I was awake.
Sometimes, I feel like I am the most spoiled girlfriend ever. But I know better. We barely meet once in six months. But the small things he does without any intention just makes me feel content. I ram my hand over his arms that was secured around my stomach which made him sign.
“Good morning, Angel.” I smiled at his goofed voice and he let me turn around to face him.
“Good morning, Handsome. I thought you had office today? Did you decided to sleep in or something or you are just late... By three hours...” I trailed off as I smirked and kissed his eyes.
He hummed and turned to his side of the table and ran his hand over it to my his phone. I saw his eyes open as he opened the screen on of my phone when he didn't find his to see the time.
It read 11 o'clock and that was enough to make the man child beside me groan in displeasure. I chuckled at his reaction and ran into the bathroom before he can even sit up.
“Angel, I need to leave within half an hour. Please make it fast...” Adam said from the other side of the bathroom door and I nodded and smiled lightly at what just I did.
Quickly completing my morning routine and taking a quick shower, I was out of the bathroom and Adam went in as soon as I did.
I took Adam’s shirt and one of my shorts and ran downstairs to fix us some breakfast as I knew Adam won't take more than 10 minutes to get ready. I don't know how he does that but I know that he is a morning person just like me.
I chopped a few freshly stocked fruits and a glass of orange juice with toast and an American styled omelette for both of us that was filled with vegetables. By the time I was preparing the table, Adam came running down the stairs while fixing his tie and cufflinks.
“I would have had something after the meeting, Angel. You didn't have to hurry your breakfast for me.” He complained but sat at the table anyway and started helping me to serve.
“It’s fine. I know you have a thing for my cooking...” We chuckled and he nodded spreading butter on his toast and I brought his juice out.
“You are heaven!” Adam said as he digs into the food and I sat beside him with my own.
“Eat calmly, love. You'll choke yourself if you eat that fast.” I held his hand making him stop his hurried actions.
“I’m late, Angel. I really, have to leave within two minutes or else I'll be late for my meeting. But I also can't say no to this heavenly made food.” He signed as he took yet another big bite of the omelette.
“Than wait, I'll warp your breakfast and you can eat on the way to your office. Just give me a minute.” I hurriedly took out warping paper and warped three omelettes in different warps. Adam didn't argue as he knew he was late.
“These are for you and this big one is for Tony. Let him drive for you today so you can have your breakfast.” I handed him the bag and Adam stood up, taking his phone.
“What are you going to do today?” He asked me as we walked up to the door of my Condo.
“I was thinking that I'll meet up with Miss Braganza. I wanted to overlook the preparation of the wedding. You know, the tablecloth and the centrepiece and the themes and all. It sometimes not the same when you see from the mere video call. I thought I should double-check. But before that, I'm going to be at the office till four. I have to go through some files before we leave for Italy.” Adam nodded in understanding and opened the door.
“Are you also going for the dress fitting today?” He asked as he turned around, facing me.
“Yup! I'm. I'll join you directly on the flight. I guess the dress will take the most time in this whole thing as I don't even know what my wedding dress looks like. THANKS TO YOU...” I taunted and made a face making Adam chuckle and kiss my loss. The gesture almost made me smile but I held it down to show him that I'm still angry at the topic.
“Trust me you'll love what you'll see.” I looked at him with doubt and he shook his head keeping his hand up in a surrender position.
“I didn't saw the dress, promise. I just trust the man.” I nodded and signed. He gave a light kiss on the crown of my head and left. I closed the door and locked it before continuing my breakfast. I let out a relieved sign when I saw Adam’s plate was almost empty and only a piece of toast was left in it.
One thing Adam and I scorn is wasting the food. We always make what is enough for us and in a quantity that is reasonable for two stomachs. It's not that we starve ourselves but we know that none of us is going to eat leftovers and even if we want to, the first thing any cook will do as he/ she enters the kitchen is to throw away the wasted food.
So, we usually make the items accordingly. Cause let’s be practical about this. There are so many people are starving out there and we have so much that we can buy more than half of America and Europe. Even if we try to donate, the money isn't going to be passed down to the needed people. Cause we all know that people do corruption. If not illegally possible then they have a very much legal way for the same.
I signed and shook my head as I eat my breakfast in silence. It is not hidden from anyone that Adam and I have been working together for getting our foundation started. The foundation was an NPO that will allow young people to develop their skills and polish their language so they can survive the world.
The other part of the foundation was going to find the orphanages that are on their own. Without any funding and educational support. We will be giving the children better lifestyle changes. From giving them the education that they are rightful for and helping them throughout the struggle of getting a stable job or business.
But of course, this process was going to take years to come true and Adam and I were ready for it. The first part of the foundation is the easy one. We have already gone through the documentation procedure and permits.
All that was now pending is the people who are willing to trust our initiative and held out their hands for us to help them out. But the thing is, there are still some professionals and institutions that are yet to agree with our terms. Well, that is if we are taking an incentive to give free education and training programs than they should be granting us a little more than thank you as we are going to give 100s of new and hot liquid to them to mould.
It's not that we are asking them to give us their facilities at 50% amount but a genuine cut off of 10% would also do. I shook my head after making the list of academies and trusts that Adam and I have yet to revisit and let out a sign as it wasn't possible within 3 weeks.
Cause this week is going to be hectic due to the wedding preparation and the wedding. Next week is our honeymoon time, OF WHICH, I have no idea I'm going to go on this globe. And the third week is all about Adam and me settling our deals and projects that had been held off for the last two weeks after today. So... Yeah, the organisation has to wait for a while before it is out to officially help the people.
I washed the last dish as I calculated every possible way to things done for the wedding in a week and headed to my room to change myself into my formals.
As always, as I walked into the room, my face wore a smile as I looked at the clothes that laid on my bed. It is something Adam and I are habitual of doing. We lay each other's clothes out. Like, we don't do it regularly but we do it on special occasions. Like today...
Adam knew I was going for the new head office for the first time.
It was a Rough coloured two-piece that had a plain pencil skirt with a button-down top that had a shawl collar with hand-knitted flower work. The material wasn't thick but it was warm enough. I love Adam’s taste of clothing and that one of the reasons I'm not currently freaking out over my wedding dress.
I chuckled at the thought and went to change without further ado.
I quickly pulled my hair up into a high ponytail and the rest fell on my back with soft curls. As usual, I put on some cherry lipgloss and left the room after taking my clutch with me.
As soon as I entered the building, it welcomed me with open arms. It's not that I'm coming here for the first time. But to date, I came here to work for a maximum of 4 to 5 days. And now this is were I’ll be coming a little too frequently. The Head employees were moved to the New York building last month along with Mr Trivedi.
He greeted me at the reception, making me smile at the memory when he did the same when I first stepped into this company as the CEO.
“Miss Steel, finally! I feel like I haven't seen you in ages. Come on dear you have to go through a few important documents before you leave for the day.” I nodded at him and smiled at the familiar faces around me.
“And yet, you haven't aged a day during this ‘ages’. We chuckled as Mr Trivedi and I got into the elevator. This building was originally 35 floored. But as we were going make it the headquarters of the Steels. It has to be more than 52.
You to get all the accommodations and documents in the correct place. So as soon as we decided the Adam and I are getting married, I took it as my cue to rebuild this beauty. It of course took time but two years was more than enough to get the job done.
Now the building is 65 story and 65th floor is mine. It didn't take much of an effort as the pioneer of the building was too strong and it helped to boost up the speed of the labour. As I entered my floor, I saw James standing at the receptionist‘s desk with a few files in his hand. And the young receptionist looked like she was a child in the ice cream store.
I chuckled at the thought but quickly composed myself and cleared my throat which made the receptionist frown and looks at me.
The scowl on her face vanished and a worried look graced her face with a hint of terror.
“You are late!” That's what he said before he left, walking towards my office and Mr Trivedi followed by. I on the other hand looked at the drawling receptionist who seem like was playing James walking into my office again and again in her subconscious mind.
“ I think Mr Newton had a bad breakup with his girlfriend.” Finally, getting out of the trace Miss Penelope Thatcher said.
“Good morning Ma’am, it's nice having you back in New York.” She stood up and genuinely bowed for respect.
“Good morning Ms Thatcher. And I think that he had a bad breakup with his boyfriend...” I emphasised the word ‘boyfriend’ and saw her face almost turning purple with embarrassment. She mumbled a quick apology and sat on her chair looking at her computer screen.
I shook my head and headed to my office, knowing that I'll be hearing a handful of ‘good words’. There is no doubt that every girl in the office is a little bit too eager to warm James’ bed but only a few of them knows that James is gay.
It's not like he hides the truth or something, he just doesn't wants to clarify anyone. I signed and walked into the office, only to gasp at the view.
