She's Back.

3005 Words
I went upstairs to the apartment and changed into black leather pants and a white tank top with a leather jacket that has angel wings on the back and writing in between the shoulder blades that said “Ange de la Mort” meaning “Angel of Death” in french. I changed into little black boots that have heels on the bottom of them. I walked to the bathroom and applied matte red lipstick and walked back outside. Cam chuckled and I smiled. “Who has my heat?” Cam reached behind him and pulled my gun from the back of his shirt. It has an angel wing on each side of the handle of my 9mm.  “My baby.” “Ready?” “Yep.” I put the gun behind me, tucked in the back of my pants covered by my jacket. I got in Cam’s car and we left to go somewhere. “Can I at least know where we are going?” “First, to test if you really are still Angle de la Mort.” “Really Cam?” “You’ve gotten soft. Hanging out with these teenagers must have rubbed off on you.” “You must have forgotten who you are talking to big brother. I’m not called Angel of Death for nothing.” “I don’t know. You seem soft.” He looked at me when he stopped at a red light so I slapped the taste out of his mouth.  “Don’t you ever disrespect me like that again, you feel me?” He glared at me. “Yeah.” He went back to driving and he did not look happy. I recognized the area that we were in so I looked at him. “Why are we in our old hood?” “There is someone who is taking advantage of their power. Using their title as a way to get girls then when they want to leave, he abuses them then kills them. Then he cuts our products and laces them with stuff that’s been killin people in the streets. We need to take care of him.” “You want me to do it?” “Just like you used to. So we know that you still the same.” “Bet.” We pulled up at a house. We got out of the car and waited for the dude to come outside. It didn’t take very long but I kept my face hidden just to be safe. “Why yall on my property?” “You Nick Menez?” “Who wants to know?” “I got a girl for you.” “Her?” Cam tapped my arm so I looked up at him. He looked rough. Late thirties, a little big, tattoos covering his body, and a lot of facial hair. “She’s pretty.” “I know.” “How much?” “A thousand and she’s all yours.” “Deal.” He waved at us to come inside so we followed behind him. It was a trap house and I knew everyone inside. They all stood when they saw me so Nick turned around. “Why y'all standin? She’s just a prostitute.” I chuckled. “What you laughing bout?” “You might not recognize me because of my hair.” I pulled out my gun and pointed it at him. “Hey, calm down.” “You like to r**e and kill women? Cause they aren’t pleased with you?” “Nah it’s not like that.” “I think it is. You sleep with them and when they want to leave cause their job is done, you beat on them and r**e them. Then when you are done with them, you kill them.” “No no no. You have it all wrong.” “Do I?” I kicked him in the stomach which made him fall to the ground. “Know who I am yet?” “Yeah, I thought you retired from the streets.” “Nah, I took a little break.” “Come on, those women deserved it!” “No woman deserves to die no matter their status! You are just a worthless pig.” I shot him in the knee which made him scream. “I’m sorry!” “Sorry?! Tell that to the women you killed! I’ll see you in hell bitch.” I shot him in the head and turned around and looked at Cam. “I never left.” “There’s my sister. Ange de la Mort.” I put my gun back and walked out. Cam came walking out behind me and his boys were outside waiting for us. “She’s back. That was insane.” They all started cheering. “Let’s not get too excited right now. We have to go to the next location.” They nodded and got in their car. Cam and I got in his and he couldn’t stop smiling. “Why didn’t you believe me?” “I had to see it for myself.” “We need to keep my baby a secret from the streets or else there will be a hit on it.” “Okay.” “Why’d you want me back?” “Geovanni is back.” I looked at him. “He’s what?” “He’s back and he brought a whole gang with him. He’s got massive protection now.” “What’s his cover?” “Bars and clubs.” “What’s he selling?” “Coke and heroin.” “Seriously?” “I know little sis.” “Imma kill-” “I know Sophia.” “Are we going to him?” “Yes.” “Okay.” He kept driving till we got closer to this club. We got out of the car and started walking toward the entrance. There was a bouncer outside and a line waiting out the door already. I walked straight to the front and everyone started yelling at me. “Sophia Jones here to see Geovanni Partinni.” “You aren’t on the list.” “Call him.” “Lady-” “I said call him.” He signed then called Geo. “Oh umm, go on in. I didn’t realize who you were.” “It’s okay.” We walked inside and went straight to the back of the club. His guards were standing at the door. “Leon! Bobby! How’s the kids and the wife?” Leon gave me a hug and Bobby shook my hand. “They’re doing good. You should come over for dinner sometime.” “I’ll have to think about it.” They let me, Cam, and his friend into Geo’s office. “How in the hell?” “Don’t ask questions.” Geo wasn’t in his office so I sat in his seat at his desk. Cam stood next to me while his friend stood at the other side. I sat there waiting for him to get there when I heard a female screaming at someone. “Let me in there! I’m his girlfriend!” A girl rushed into the office and boy was she mad. She was skinny, blonde, heavy makeup, and a skimpy dress.  “Who are you?” “Sophia. What about you?” “Geovanni’s girlfriend.” “You don’t have a name?” Geo came running in. “Regan!” I smiled. “Hello Geo.” He looked at me as if he saw a ghost. “Holy hell. When they said you were here, I didn’t believe them.” “Well, here I am. And we have unfinished business so tell your new hoe to leave.” “Hoe? b***h who-” I pulled out my gun and aimed it at her. “Don’t start with me little girl. I was the first one and I will always be chosen before you.” “Baby, is this true?” She turned to Geo and he didn’t even look at her. “Go, me and Sophia have business to do.” She stormed out and slammed the door. “Now that she’s gone, what are you doing back? You know what the deal was.” “I am aware but I have a new deal.” “I don’t do deals let alone make new ones.” “I know but you’ll like this one.” “What is it?” “I work for you. I do all of the dirty work and you make the profit plus it’s your contacts. I just supply the drugs and locations.” I looked at Cam. he tilted his head. “Why?” “I just want to be home. And if working under you is what I have to do, I will.” “What’s stopping me from killing you and taking it right now?” “We know you wouldn’t-” I shot his knee. As he fell to the ground I walked around his desk and up to him. “You don’t know me anymore.” “You’re right.” “So, get the hell out of here or else you die. You have until nightfall.” “But-” “Don’t make me pop a bullet in you now.” He stared at me and I nodded at Cam and his friend. We walked out and left. We went to the gangs bar to have drinks but I drank water. “You know they will ask questions why you aren’t drinking.” “I’ll tell them that I’m not trying to get drunk tonight because I have important stuff to do tomorrow and I can’t be hung over.” “Okay.” We stood there for a while talking when a group of girls walked over and started hitting on Cam. “Ladies, i’m busy right now.” “Come on Cam, you know that we can please you better than this new girl.” I chuckled. “I’m sure you can considering i’m his sister. And I'm not new.” They got embarrassed. “We didn’t know.” “It’s okay. Run along now.” They left and Cam started laughing. “Wow.” “I know.” “So, what really happened with Jordan?” “He thought Geo was an abusive boyfriend so he took me to the hospital. He thought that he scared him off and out of town but it was actually the deal we made with him. After that we talked for a while then I dated his older brother Nick for a week, broke up with him, got drunk at a party, had s*x with Jordan, he became addicted so we started dating and here we are.” Cam started laughing. “Oh that’s funny.” “I know.” My phone started ringing so I looked to see who it was. It was Jordan so I walked outside and answered it. “Hello?” “Where are you?” “With Cam, why?” “Because there was a shooting in Kankakee and I’m worried.” “Relax, I’m fine.” “Are you sure?” “Yes, now can I get back to what we were working on?” “Yes, I love you.” “I love you too.” I hung up and walked back inside. “It’s already made the news.” “Can’t be traced back to you. No one snitches on the Ange de la Mort.” “Right.” I sat down and started thinking about everything that happened today. The doors opened to the bar and everyone stood up. I turned around and saw our boss, Elijah.  “Sophia, nice to see you again.” “Same here boss.” He walked up to me and kissed each of my cheeks. “Come with me, we have a lot to talk about.” “Yes sir.” We walked to the back of the bar and into his office. He sat down at his desk and started going through the papers on his desk. “Did you take care of Nick Menaz?” “Yes.” “Geo?” “Leaving by the end of today or he dies.” “Good. That’s what I love about you, you get the job no questions asked and it’s always done right.” “Thank you.” “But I am curious, word is that you are pregnant.” “The word is correct. I am pregnant.” “Now, you know what happens from here. Either Jordan has to Join the gang or-” “He doesn’t know anything. I haven’t told him about this or anything at all.” “You know the rules.” “Then let me out. I don’t want him or my baby to be a part of this or know anything about this.” “Sophia-” “I’m serious, okay? I don’t want them involved and I want out. As soon as Geo is gone, you’ll no longer need me but I’m still useful. I can do small things but I no longer want to be a part of this.” “Are you asking to retire?” “Yes. I want to retire.” He took a deep breath. “I have always done everything that you have asked me to do and more. Like you said, always no questions asked and it’s always clean.” “Very well. We will throw you a retirement party and you will be a vet since you have been a part of this gang since it was built.” “Thank you.” “I need one last thing from you.” “Yes?” “Serina Vargas.” “What about her?” “She needs to go. She’s been causing trouble for business.” “She’s getting professional help right now. She has a mental condition that is causing her to have episodes. Her family is sending her to Mexico to stay with family and get treatments. She will no longer be troubling you.” “You already took care of her?” “She’s been fighting with me since she got here. She was shot by my day job boss Robbie while she was trying to kill me. Don’t worry, i’m fine and so is my baby.” “Well, I guess that just bout covers it. Your retirement party will be held here tomorrow after Geo is gone.” “Yes sir.” “Dismissed.” I stood up and walked out. I walked back to Cam and smiled. “Guess who just retired so they can have their kid and live a happy life with their boyfriend?” “You did not.” “I did. I have wanted to retire for a long time now. It’s official tomorrow after we are sure Geo is gone.” “I can’t believe you.” “Believe what? The fact that I want to live long enough to see my kid grow up? The fact that I want to live a long happy life with Jordan?” “That you would retire so early!” “It doesn’t matter! I’ve done everything that I’m needed for so he said I can retire.” I walked out and started walking towards the rest of the gang. “Can one of yall take me back to school?” “School?” “Unlike you, I want my highschool diploma and want an education higher than a third grade reading level.” They started laughing. “I’ll take you.” It was a newbie in the gang. He was tall, darkskin, waves, tattoos, and was really attractive. “Thanks.” We walked to his motorcycle. “My name's Kyree.” “Sophia.” I shook his hand and got on his bike. “Which school?” “BBCHS.” “Okay.” He started driving to the school and when we got there he just stared at me. “What?” “How old are you?” “Seventeen. What about you?” “Twenty.” “Okay?” “I know you from somewhere.” “You might know me from my other name, Ange de la Mort?” His eyes got huge. “Holy hell I just gave the Angel of Death a ride to school. That is a sentence I never thought I would say.” I laughed. “Well I also have a boyfriend. So you don’t have a chance buddy.” “Damn, I was about to ask for your number too. You are a baddie.” “Thanks. I gotta go though.” I walked away and walked inside the school. I checked in and was walking down the hall to my locker to grab my school stuff when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my body pulling me closer to him. I turned around to see Jordan and a big smile on his face. “I was worried about you.” “I know, but I’m okay baby.” “I can see. I love you.” “I love you too.” He gave me a kiss and I went back to grabbing my stuff. He took a step back and stared at me. “God damn you are hot mamas.” “Thank you.” He stared at the jacket a little longer. “The Angel of Death?” “Oh shit.” I took the jacket off and put it in my locker and took Jordan’s letterman jacket off of him and put it on. “Wait, is that what you had to do? Are you-” “Let’s talk about this at home. I’ll tell you everything.” “No we need to talk about this now.” “I am not arguing with you right now-” “Sophia!”
