I saw Theo walk in.

“Ahh, Mr. Ricci. It’s good to see you.”

“You as well.”

“Meet my right hand woman, Sophia Jones.”

“Yes, we have had the pleasure of meeting through Angel.”

“I see.”

We shook hands then I sat down and took a sip of my drink.

“Well, Sophia would you like to take charge then?”

“Of course sir.”

I stood back up. 

“You may not know but we are a gang that started out as a group of people making a change in our community and dealing to now a nationwide gang that is thriving. We have contacts and clients all over the world that can either become your best friend, or your enemy.”

“I see. I want to know your stance Sophia.”

“What do you mean?”

“Do you want to take over?”

“In the future, maybe. I wish nothing to Elijah but the best. He’s been more of a father to me than both my actual father and my step father.”

“Right. Well, I don’t do business with women.”

“No, you don’t want to do business with a woman that chooses their career and family over a man who is a huge egomaniac. I am a professional business woman who is going to be a leader in the future. Now, I am the person that can either make your day or ruin it.”

Elijah stared at me.

“Why do you think I am an egomaniac?”

“For the main fact that you told me to be a housewife that you can come home to and f**k her till she has all of your kids and pretend like I’m happy. I’m telling you this now, I am one of the best people you can do business with.” He scoffed. “I know numbers, accounting, business, family, fair trades, fair deals, equal ownership, and alliance. If you have this alliance with myself and Elijah, you will be an equal. You will get fifty percent and we will get forty-five. The other five percent goes to building back our community.”

He c****d his eyebrow.

“Mr. Ricci, I am someone you want to be on good terms with. If I were in your position, I’d read the contract and sign it.”

I handed him the contract and he stared at me for a second then read over the contract. When he was done he looked up at me.

“What happens if I don’t sign this?”

“You cannot sell or expand into our area and if you try to, you will start a gang war that you will not win.”

He chuckled.

“What makes you so sure of that?”

“I’m Angel de la Mort. No one crosses me and lives.”

“I like that attitude.”

He took out his pen and signed the contract then handed it back to me then we shook hands.

“I’m looking forward to working with you.”

“I appreciate it.”

He left then Elijah looked at me.

“You almost cost us this alliance.”

“I know his type. You cannot show fear or let him belittle you or else he will take advantage of it. If you show him strength and show him that he can’t control you, he respects you.”

“You are smart.”

“I know.”

I took a sip while he laughed.

“A few more meetings to go and you can go home and relax.”

“Thank god. I hate having to wear heels.”

“Why don’t you take them off? I mean, no one can blame you. Those things kill you slowly.”

“I look more professional. I just have to sit down and relax them from time to time.”

“Well you have a little while to do just that.”

I sat down and while we were waiting I pulled my phone out and saw that Kyree had texted me.

“Hey, what do you want me to make for dinner?”

“Surprise me.”

“Okay, how’re your meetings going?”

“Good. Made an alliance and got a new supplier.”

“That’s great.”

“And I talked to Elijah and he told me that you just need to do a big job for him and he will give you a bonus and a raise.”

“You’re kidding?”

“Nope.”

“You are getting the best s*x of your life tonight.”

My eyes got wide and I bit my lip. Elijah noticed and he looked confused.

“You better keep that promise.”

Elijah asked, “What just happened?”

“Don’t worry about it.”

“Mhmm.”

“I’m serious.”

We sat there for a little while before I started getting curious about our next meeting.

“So what’s next?”

“We are meeting with an old friend of mine. They are going to help us find a new place to go to other than the bar.”

“Alright. Also, do you have a Lion tattoo?”

He rolled up his sleeve to show a lion on his forearm.

“I want one badly.”

“I’ll take you tomorrow. No charge or anything.”

“What do you want in return?”

“I want to bless your wedding to Kyree. I know, it’s early. But I’ve never seen either one of you act like this. Love isn’t weakness, it fuels power, strength, and hope.”

“You have yourself a deal.”

He smiled then someone walked in. It was an older man and he was happy to see Elijah.

“Hey brother.”

Hey.”

They hugged then walked up to me.

“Cole, this is Sophia, my right hand woman. Sophia, this is my older brother Cole.”

We shook hands.

“It’s nice to finally meet you Sophia.”

“Likewise.”

“So, we are moving into a new house?”

I looked at Elijah and he smiled at me.

“You didn’t.”

“I did. He already told me why he wanted to move and I told him I’ll think about it. Well, I’ve thought about it and I am going to help you house shop and get you your house.”

“Why?”

“You’ve been the daughter to me that I’ve always wanted but I unfortunately can’t have. So if I can get you your first tattoo and help you buy a house, I will.”

I walked up to him and hugged him. He wrapped his arms around me and gave me a little squeeze. I teared up a little bit and wiped my eye.

“Oh don’t cry.”

“It’s just, you’ve been more of a father to me than the two men I’m supposed to call dad. You’ve been supportive and have really helped me when my mental health was at its lowest when I was fifteen. So I appreciate you and everything you have done for me over the years.”

We sat down and started looking at houses. I saw this five bed, four bathroom house that was two thousand and five hundred square feet for almost three thousand a month. But it was in a great area and it had a fenced in yard and it was absolutely stunning.

“I love this.”

“Okay, I will contact the agent and set up a time for you and Kyree to check it out.”

I hugged them both then Cole left. The last few meetings went by fast and it was about time to go home. I took my heels off and grabbed my phone.

“Alright, it’s time to eat and go to bed.”

“Good night Sophia.”

Good night and stay safe.”

‘You too.”

I walked out and got in the car. I put my shoes in the passenger seat with my phone and drove home. As soon as I got there I took my blazer off because I was hot. Tariq was outside doing yard work when he saw me.

“Hey-”

He noticed the gun.

“Are you a cop?”

“God no. The exact opposite.”

“A gangster?”

“The right hand.”

“That’s cool.”

“Yeah, I’m exhausted so I’m going to go inside. Have a good night.”

“You too.”

I walked inside and dropped my heels on the floor by accident. Kyree walked around the corner and smiled at me.

“Hey.”

I smiled sluggishly at him and plopped down on the couch.

“Long day?”

“If I never have to wear heels again, i’m okay with that.”

He chuckled.

“My feet are killing me and so is my back for some reason.”

“Well I can start a hot bath for you.”

“That would be amazing.”

He came over to me and kissed me then started the water for me.

“So, How was spending the day with the puppy?”

“After I fed him, great. Until he wanted attention and started screaming again.”

I started laughing.

“It’s not funny.”

“It’s totally funny. Is that what I have to do to get attention too?”

“No. Just ask and I’ll give you as much attention as you please.”

“Well, you are about to give me a lot because we are going to go see a house tomorrow.”

“Seriously? We don’t have the money.”

“Don’t worry about it. I have it all covered.”

He walked up to me and started kissing me.

“So, what’d you make for dinner because something in there smells amazing.”

“Spicy noodles with shrimp.”

“Yum.”

He chuckled then he walked with me to the bathroom. I got undressed then 

I got in the water and just sat there for a second then I looked up at him.

“You going to get in or not?”

He chuckled then started getting undressed. I moved up and he got in behind me. I leaned backwards so I was lying on him and he started rubbing my legs for me. 

“Do you want me to rub your neck and shoulders?”

“Please?”

He drained the water then we went to the room and he picked me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist then my towel dropped but neither one of us cared. I started running my hands down his body and threw his towel. He started kissing my neck and just kept going down. “So what are we going to name him?”

“I really like your ideas of Axel or Apollo.”

“I really like Apollo.”

“Well his name is Apollo now.”

I smiled then picked him up and set him on the bed. He started chewing on Kyree's finger and I started giggling.

“Don’t laugh.”

“It’s cute. He really likes you.”

“Yeah well, he’s growing on me a little too.”

I smiled.

“When are we leaving for Scotland?”

“In two weeks.”

“Okay. What all should I bring?”

“Clothes, fake ID, fake passport, our guns, cash, Rose will take care of Apollo, and let’s just have fun then focus on the job.”

He nodded his head.

“This will be my first time leaving the country.”

“Mine too.”

We finished eating and I laid down with the puppy on my chest. I started messing with him and he was being super adorable. Kyree stood in the door frame watching us and smiled.

“What?”

“You’re adorable.”

“I know you are.”

He rolled his eyes at me. He walked up and took the puppy from me and took him outside. I tried to get up but my legs were still numb. He came back and saw that I was trying to walk so he put Apollo in his cage then turned to me.

“What’re you doing?”

“I wanted to see how numb my legs were.”

“Lay down.”

I rolled my eyes and he chuckled.

“Come on.”

We got in bed and he pulled me onto his lap and rubbed my head while I fell asleep. We woke up to Apollo barking so I got up and took him outside, forgetting that I was only wearing panties and his shirt. I sat on the steps and covered up as much skin as possible until I knew he was done then rushed to the bedroom. I laid back down and Kyree chuckled.

“What?”

“You forgot what you’re wearing didn’t you?”

“Yes.”

“This is great.”

“Shut up.”

He started dying laughing. I nuzzled my face into his chest then fell back asleep. He woke me up by running his hand down my arm and pulling me on top of him.

“What’re you doing?”

I sat up and on his lap while he rested his hands on my hips.

“It’s time to get up.”

“I’m tired and sore.”

“I know baby.”

I rolled my eyes then got up and I got in the shower. I started washing my hair when I heard voices. I ignored it and finished my shower. I got out and wrapped a towel around my body then I went to the room and changed into a pair of biker shorts and his shirt and went to the kitchen. Kyree was sitting there with a few people talking.

“Hey.”

He looked at me and smiled. The two people he was sitting with were an older female and man.

“Sophia, this is my mom and her boyfriend.”

I smiled.

“It’s nice to meet you.”

I went to shake her hand but she stood up and hugged me. 

“She’s a hugger.”

“Now I know where you get it from.”

They all started laughing. 

“My name is Corina and this is Rich.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you two.”

“You too. He’s talked about you a lot over the past few days.”

“Well, I hope all good things.”

“Oh yes. Also that you are his boss.”

“Well I didn’t exactly know I was going to get a promotion and be his boss when we first got together, but it’s great. He can’t go anywhere without me telling him to do something.”

She started laughing.

“I like you.”

“Well thank you. I want you to like me.”

“Rose told me you got him in a suit?”

“Yeah.”

I showed her the pictures of us at the dinner and the pictures that Mirza took.

“You two look amazing.”

“Well thank you. I’m about to make some coffee if you want some?”

“Please.”

I started to make the coffee then I felt him standing behind me.

He whispered, “She doesn’t know about the gang so don’t say anything about it.”

I nodded then finished prepping the coffee.

“So Sophia, Kyree told me that you are still in school.”

“I am but that doesn’t mean anything. I want my diploma and maybe a criminal defense degree.”

“Criminal defense?”

“Yeah, I’ve always wanted to help people and this is a great way to do that. Give people a fair fight if I believe they are innocent. Keep black men and women that are innocent out of prison and put away the truly guilty.”

She nodded her head.

“You are a smart young woman.”

“Thank you.”

I chuckled then poured a cup of coffee.

“How do you like your coffee?”

“The same as Kyree.”

I nodded then made her a cup. I handed it to her then looked at Rich.

“Would you like one?”

“No.”

“Okay, what about you babe?”

“Yeah.”

“Alright.”

I made him a cup then myself. I handed him his then he pulled me onto his lap.

“I have to get ready.”

“I know. But I don’t want you to go yet.”

“I don’t want to go either but I have to. Plus you have to leave for work soon.”

“True.”

“Also, we are seeing the house at seven. I’m going straight to the tattoo shop with Elijah to get my tattoo.”

“Which one?”

“The lion. He told me he wanted to get it for me.”

Rich said, “Well that’s nice of him.”

It came off as rude and almost like he was trying to say something.

“Yeah. Elijah is more of a father to me than my actual father and stepfather. Plus he’s our boss.”

“He’s what?”

“We work under him. I’ve known him for the majority of my life so he was a big part of who I am. So he gave me a job to take care of me and my brothers and I’ve worked for him since. He gave me a promotion because of how hard I work and the fact that I don’t give up.”

“One of the many things I love about her. The fact that she’s a total goof and a total business woman wrapped in one and topped off with a little attitude.”

“A little?”

“Okay, a lot of attitude.”

We all started laughing then I got up and finished getting ready. I put my shoes on then went back to the kitchen.

“Which am I taking today?”

“You just keep taking the car and I’ll keep taking my bike.”

“Okay.”

I grabbed the keys off the counter then kissed him.

“It was nice meeting you two.”

“You too Sophia.”

I walked outside to see Cam standing there.

“What’re you doing here?”

“Waiting for him to hurry up so we can go do this job.”

“His mom’s here.”

“Corina?”

“Yeah, they are drinking coffee talking.”

“Oh I wanna say hi.”

He walked inside and I heard screaming and laughter. I shook my head then got in the car. I went to school then got a message from Elijah.

“Hey, you ready for this tattoo?”

“Yep.”

“Where are you getting it?”

“My thigh.”

“Okay. I’ll meet you at the shop.”

I put my phone away and walked inside the school. I walked to the crew’s usual spot and they were all there smoking.

“Aye, what’s up Sophia?”

“Nothing. Can I hit that?”

“Yeah.”

She handed me her vape and I took a hit of it. We talked about everything going on in our lives and just had a really down to Earth conversation.

“What about you Sophia.”

“Well, if you don’t know, Jordan and I broke up, I lost the baby, everyone found out I’m a gangbanger, got a new boyfriend that loves me for who I am, I got a puppy named Apollo, and I am getting a lion tattoo on my thigh to represent my gang.”

They all stared at me in shock.

“Well that’s a change.”

Someone walked into the bathroom and it was a security guard.
