Chapter Fifteen

10 minutes ago we entered our room and we were both surprised to see how spacious our room was. Our mini fridge was fully stocked with drinks and we had a cabinet filled with different snack food items and such. Adele suggested that I shower before falling into the large comfortable bed. I took her advice and took myself a hot shower. The water had stung my wound, but I pulled through. After a fresh shower and clean clothes were back on my body, I found myself falling to the white cloud we called a bed. Giggles echoed around me, I only smiled before I was sucked into darkness. By the time I awoke the next day is was mid afternoon. The sun was still roasting high above and there were clouds in the sky. Adele just walked through the door to our room, carrying a large bag of greasy goodness we both call food. She smiled as she closed the door behind her and locked it afterwards and spoke "I didn't want t wake you up, since you were sleeping so well. You needed the sleep. So I showered and left to get something to eat. I didn't go far I promise and I didn't have any issues. I got a few different things, wasn't sure what to get." I eventually get up out of bed and stretch my limbs, before making the bed and moving to my bag to get some fresh clean clothes. We eat moments later and watch a Lifetime movie that Adele had found while flipping through the channels, trying to find something to watch. I told her how we can stay another night or so, before we needed to make our way towards Roman. She happily agreed and said "just a few more days and we'll be in Wind River, I wonder what the people are like. Do you think they'll let us stay?" I smiled as I finished my second burger and took a drink of my soda, before I replied "I'm pretty sure they are very welcoming and generous. How about tonight we explore the town and do something?" An hour later we were both walking in downtown Cheyenne exploring our surroundings. Tomorrow we would be arriving to the National Forest. A good time to shift. I was currently using my camera and taking some photos, Adele was skipping just a few feet ahead of me. Today we had no incident, but tomorrow and the upcoming days could be different and we would be tested. This time I won't let anything happen to Adele, this I vowed. We decided to stop at the local park we found and settled on swinging together. Adele made a race out of swinging and I rolled my eyes at her. We had another conversation between us, but this one was about our past, our birth home. We found ourselves holding hands as we headed back to our hotel. The conversation leaving memories flooded in both our minds. I tightened my hand around hers, squeezing slightly, before I whispered low, but still loud enough for her to hear me "whatever happens on this journey, know that I will never let them take you. They've taken so much away from us already and not just us,but everyone else as well. Roman and I made a pact years ago. We both fancied one another and we became close. Roman is someone that I can full heartily trust and depend on. I know we'll be save with him. Once we get there, things are going to change and I hope for the better good." The remaining time to the hotel was quiet. Adele was mulling over my words. When we reached our room Adele spoke "don't worry, we will be safe and sound soon. We just have to make it through these final days of traveling." By the next morning, we were both dressed in simple clothes, checked out and in a cab headed to the National Forest. Our driver was friendly and sweet. An older gentleman who served in war years ago. He understood war. My sisters eyes lit up once we spotted the park and she was itching for a run and a hunt. I paid the war veteran and decent amount of money and told him to keep the change and got out of the car. Adele was already running top speed towards the trails. I smiled, taking the bags and headed her way. We had been traveling for over a couple hours now, and we stopped for a quick snack and drink. Adele wanted to shift into her wolf, so I gave her the okay and sent her off to scout the surrounding area. We would set up a small base camp off trail soon, so I needed to make sure we were far from the trails. Out of site. Currently I was tugging through some thick trees, enjoying the sounds of birds and other small animals. Adele was traveling North to find us a good secluded place for a few days. I rested against a large pine tree and took in the different scents around me. Once we have our camp set, I'll be able to shift and do a quick perimeter run. A voice soft and gentle spoke moments later "found the perfect place. Hidden by a small cave and trees. It's safe and I can only detect bears. There's a waterfall not far from the cave, perfect place for bears and other animals." My eyes snapped open to see my sister standing a few feet away from me with a warm smile. I returned the smile "that didn't take you too long. We'll set up there and then we can go for some real food." I say with a wicked grin. She laughs and takes a few bags from the ground and we start off walking again. Once we eventually get to our campsite, I was amazed at how well it was hidden. The cave was huge and spacious, we could leave our bags hidden inside and stay in wolf form for a while. The cave smelt of bears, and other small animals. It was perfect. Adele and I made our way around the cave, setting our bags near the back, incase we had visitors. I covered the bags with our scent; by shifting and rubbing against them. Afterwards, Adele and I trotted from the cave and into the surrounding woods. It was the perfect timing, the sun was still high, but it would be setting soon. I nipped my sisters tail and took off in front of her.
