Never Surrender

Chapter Eighteen

Adele's POV:

Roman and his team had arrived a few hours ago and had agreed to stay on the reservation, until my sister was healthy enough to travel again. Akita opened her home not only to myself, but to Roman and his team; who had all respectfully declined, stating that they wanted to explore the territory and didn't want to crowd her home. Roman opt to stay with me, I believe it was his connection to my sister that made him stay. Akita had listened to what I had told her and now she was listening to Roman's story. I decided to take one of the guest rooms and shower, before returning to the living room for some dinner. Akita was cooking up something delicious. After a relaxing shower and a change of clean clothes, I lightly padded my way back into the living room where Roman was lounging on the couch, with his eyes closed.I smiled and made my way into the kitchen and asked if there was anything that I could help with, I helped finish dinner and set the table in the dining area, before calling Roman for dinner. The two of us could hear his light snoring and decided to let him sleep. Akita had placed his dinner plate into the microwave for later, before we both sat down at the table for dinner. We talked about anything and everything, getting to know one another better. After dinner, I helped with the dishes and bid Akita a good night and a thank you for allowing me to stay here with her. I made my way back to the bedroom that I was using and closed the door behind me, before I climbed into the bed and snuggled deep underneath the covers and closing my eyes, allowing myself to be surrounded by darkness.

By the next morning, I was freshly showered and dressed in a pair of blue jean shorts and an orange creme colored shirt. I had my hair curled in light curls and placed a few feathers throughout my hair. I was currently in the living room talking with Akita and Roman about the possibility of moving my sister and traveling with Roman and his group. Akita spoke her concern and Roman didn't want to risk Zarina's health. I told them that I was willing to stay as long as possible, but we did need to get back to Roman's people as soon as it was possible to move my sister. Akita had allowed me that much and Roman had left so that he could send his people back home and do a run of the territory. After we all talked and had gotten on the same page, Akita and I decided on visiting my sister. The life here on the reservation was peaceful and quiet.It was buzzing full of life. Children ran around chasing one another, others where doing outside activities, while some were just enjoying the sun. I wish that it could always be like this, but I knew that would never happen. When we finally reached the medic's cave, I went directly to my sister's side; while the medic and Akita talked outside. I could have tuned into their conversation, but I had my full attention on my sister. My finger's combed through her hair and I spoke softly to her "When you get better, we - as in Roman and I are going to be moving you off the reservation and back to his people. I wish you were awake so that you could see how wonderful the reservation is. The people here are so friendly and so free and open. You should see it sister. I hope that you heal soon and come back to me. I'm so very sorry that you had to do that in order to keep me safe my love, I miss you my dear sister. Roman is coming up the hill now, he want's to speak with you. I'll leave you and him alone so you two can have your privacy. I'll make sure that the medic and Akita come with me." Moments later, Roman walked into the cave followed by the medic and Akita. I bent down and placed a kiss on my sister's forehead and stood up, walking towards them. Roman took my place by Zarina and I took that as my leave. Akita and the medic followed me outside and away from the cave, we were headed towards a medium sized building that smelled of medical supplies. Akita spoke up first "this is our hospital, we need to move your sister here in order to get the rest of the poison out of her system. She'll be able to fully heal once the rest of it is out of her system. He did everything he could up in that cave, but he didn't know how much poison was inside of her, until her body started to violently convulse and thrash around. He sedated her enough to stop the convulsing and thrashing. If we don't do this, she will die and I do not want that happening. She has such a wonderful soul a spirit." I didn't speak for a long while, as I was processing everything. When I finally spoke, I could sense Roman returning from the cave; "move her here and do whatever is necessary. She will stay alive, she needs to. She has not only me depending on her, but other people." I turned around just as Roman stopped a few feet away from me and started to jog, before I felt my body shifting and a howl broke through the peaceful air around us.Akita and her people had looked at me with awe and respect. Roman shook his head and smiled warmly, before stating "go take a run around and come back. We move your sister in a few more hours." I gave him a simple nod, before darting off and away from them.

I had taken the few hours that I had to familiarize myself with the reservation. I knew that I wanted to come back to this place some day and show my sister. We could live here with Akita and her tribe, we could protect them and they us. We wouldn't have to hide away or keep running. We could be happy here. I'm sure Akita would allow Roman and his people to stay here to. It was the perfect place. The Hunter's wouldn't be able to gain access into this reservation; which left it a true safe haven. It was heavily guarded and protected by a very strong magic that not even the witches could rival. I couldn't help the smirk that formed on my muzzle, though I'm sure it's didn't look like one. I shook the loose dirt from my fur, before turning around and making my way back to Akita and Roman. When I finally reached the little community, I allowed myself to slow down to a walk, so that the children could come towards me if they desired, which it was. Many people had came up to me with smiled and shocked expressions. They held respect and love in their eyes, while others were cautious and taking their time. The children were all running their fingers throughout my fur and nuzzling against my legs. I eventually lowered myself to the ground and laid there for a while. Allowing the smaller children to crawl and climb onto me. A small boy, had found himself gaining the courage to climb upon my back and sit straight up, his tiny legs had a slight powerful kick to them, when he decided to grip two fists full of my fur and shouted out "getty up pony, it's time to ride!" Roman was watching with amusement and said "you better listen to the boy, Adele. Time to ride the pony." I rolled my golden eyes and started to slowly rise, before I could get fully off the ground, two more children decided they wanted a ride and jumped up onto my back behind the smaller boy. After I had given all the children a ride around the community, I returned them to their waiting parents and shifted back into my human form and walked behind Akita and Roman with a huge smile. This place would definitely become our new home. I just had to talk it over with Akita and Roman and eventually my sister.
