Never Surrender

Chapter Three

I had dropped my sisters hand and turned to look at her before saying "I need you to go to the party, there's something I need to do. I'll be back later once the people have arrived and things have calmed down with the Alpha." Adele gave me a tight hug and replied, "Stay safe sister. Protect our people. I'll cover for you." We parted ways and I went in search of my three best friends. These three were special and unique. I needed them. Our pack and people depended on them. After a half hour search, I found them on the training grounds not far from the main house. Lukka, Rhett and Jinx were fighting against each other when I pushed my way through the double doors of the building. Rhett was in his beautiful dark silver grey wolf form; while Jinx and Lukka remained in their human form. I leaned against the farthest wall and watched them for a while. Rhett's wolf snarled at his two friends before he made his move on Jinx, easily pinning her to the ground and he was about to snap his large canines close to her neck, when Lukka decided to join in and tag team with Rhett. A smirk played on my lips and I rolled my eyes at the scene. I could hear Jinx whining, "Oh come on! This is not fair! You two always decide to tag team at the last minute every time the three of us come to improve our skills! Come help me out Zarina!"

I laughed and held playfulness in my eyes as I looked at her, before I sobered up and cleared my throat. "I didn't come here to train or to help you in this game you three created. I need help with something and you three are the only three that I can trust wholeheartedly within this pack." Jinx rose from the floor where she was pinned and dusted herself off before turning to face me. "What do you need help with? Everything going okay? You know everyone missed you at the-" I cut her off before she could finish. "No, everything is not okay and that's that important right now. Rhett, go shift back so I can hear your opinion as well please." Moments later, the four of us are seating on the bleachers at the very top in a corner away from the main entrance of the building.

Rhett looked between Lukka and Jinx and then eyed me. "So tell us exactly why you need our help." I sat straight up and looked him in the eyes as I spoke my next words. "The Alpha is out of his damn mind with accepting more wolves into this pack. We're already a large enough pack as is! We are bound to be executed by the H.A.A. I cannot and will not stand by and allow this ceremony to continue. I do not care how nice these people seem to be. We are NOT allowing more into this pack. I believe that the Alpha is hiding something and it's not good. Just trust me, please."

Jinx stood up and stretched before she spoke. "I say we go find out what's going on. It's been a while since we all had an adventure together. What's your plan on finding out what he's hiding?" "The four of us are going hunting. We will patrol the entire territory of the pack, leave nothing uncovered. If we come across anything that is out of the ordinary, we will act as a team to eliminate it. If we are to come across any H.A.A. members, we are to act as a team and bring each and every single one of them down. Leave no survivors. Take as many photos as possible as evidence and proof. Destroy their camp. I will seek out the head of the team. If they are in fact hiding, there will be consequences in the end. Leave the rest to me. I also wish to try something with the three of you. I've never done anything like this before, so I need your complete and utter consent with this."

Rhett crossed his arms across his chest and leaned back against the wall, while Lukka spoke. "What is it that you wish to do? We will always trust and respect you. You and your sister are basically family to us." We took a few moments of silence to let everything set in. "I will need to mark each of you at base of your shoulder and neck. This is not a mating mark. This mark is something my people consider sacred and very special. The only way to do so, is if I bite you. I have to be in wolf form as well. After I bite you, you three need to do the same to me, preferably in the exact same place. This will allow us to communicate through mind link. Don't worry, this will not affect the pack link. The Alpha will not even know about this."

After another silence, Rhett finally spoke, just as I knew he would. "What happens if you're completely wrong about all of this? What if he's just trying to protect his people, our people? Saving our species? You would risk everything for what?" I stood up to stretch eyeing the three wolves before me and narrowed my eyes in on Rhett. "As I said, you will just have to trust me. I can't say it's anything more than a deep gut feeling that something horrible is going to happen tonight and it's up to us to put an end to it."

Rhett growled. "No, it's not our job to do anything. It's your job! I will not put the lives of my mates nor my pack at risk just so you can play pretend and hero! We cannot and will not just go on your word! We need proof! Let's go, you two. There's a party that we need to attend to." He got up and was making his way down the bleachers when both Jinx and spoke out "No. Rhett you need to listen and trust her. She's been with us ever since her and Adele came into this pack. We stick together. Lukka and I are staying and helping her, you can do as you wish. I will NOT abandon my sister in this mission. I will NOT lose anyone. We've heard the stories and histories of the H.A.A. and what they can and will do. If it's proof that you want so god damn badly, then Lukka, Zarina and I will be gladly to shove this proof in your face." Lukka stood beside Jinx and had one of his arms around her waist and was eyeing Rhett with fierce eyes.

A few moments later, the four of us were standing in the middle of a huge clearing deep within our territory. Lukka, Jinx and Rhett all stood in their human form wearing their usual uniform whenever they were sent out on missions; while I on the other hand stood in front of them. I took the dagger that I hid underneath my dress and dug it across my right palm, before taking the same dagger to Lukka's, Jinx's and Rhett's palm. The four of us mixed our blood together as I said my people's oath. As I spoke each of us could feel the difference in the air. It was working. After I finished speaking, the three wolves before me also spoke it, which caused the wind to pick up once more and the leaves blew around us.

After the oath was spoken, we dropped our hands and I walked towards Rhett first and spoke. "It's time for the marking now. Are you all sure you want to go through with this? Once this is complete, there is no going back." Rhett stayed silent for a moment or two before replying, "Just remember if you're wrong about all of this, I will not hesitate to-" "I will be correct. You will see that I am no liar. Accuse me of false information again and you will be the one who will be sorry Rhett Bane."

I didn't give him the chance to give me an answer before my wolf took over and I shifted. My wolf form wasn't the size of your typical wolf, but the size of my human form, which is 5'6". My wolf had beautiful silver grey fur with tan covered ears and bright amber eyes. The jaws of my wolf parted and in a hasty growl, I bite down on Rhett's neck. His blood poured into the mouth of my wolf and I swallowed, before letting go mere minutes after the bite had taken place. The same happened to Lukka and Jinx. Once I had finished marking the three, I had shifted back into my human form, my eyes bright from biting and my body humming with such power. It didn't take long for the three to return the bite mark upon my flesh, and once it was over the four of us could feel the power and shift. Our mind linked had been successfully formed and our bond was now stronger then it had been before.

It was now time for the next stage in our mission.

We would split up and search the entire territory for any sign of danger, threats and if there was, the H.A.A. camp site. I knew I would not disappoint any of my team members, because this wouldn't be the first time anything like this has happened, and I knew it would not be the last. The Alpha will be sure to pay for all that he has put our people though, I will make sure of it.
